Friendly owner welcomed us at the cottage with lots of interesting details of the area. Cottage itself was comfortable and was in a central position for all the tourist things that you would want to see and do. Would recommend to other people and if we holiday in Cumbria again ... would book again.

We've been staying in self catering cottages for over 20 years. This property was the best: so clean, homely, well equipped and spacious. Also, the location was fabulous.

Snow bound in Backbarrow, but snug and comfortable.

We spent the coldest, snowiest week of the winter up at Backbarrow. The weather was so bad that the cottage owner had to make 2 valiant attempts to get there to prepare the cottage for us. We were unsure whether we would be able to get there from south of Manchester through a blizzard. But we did, to find that everything possible had been done for us.
A wonderful week walking through deep crisp snow under blue skies, then back to a warm snug cottage with a roaring log fire in the evening.
What a view!

Spent an unforgettable week, starting with the lovely owners who were very welcoming and helpful, even giving us a bottle of bubbly to help us relax!
The house was great, two very comfortable bedrooms with fantastic views, a comfortable sitting room with a working fireplace, logs supplied! Great kitchen and bathroom with absolutely everything thought of.
The garden was very pretty with fantastic views across the valley, could see the steam train going up and down, and the sunsets!
The cottage was central in a great location, good walking all around, and a short drive from lots of lovely places; we loved it all.
Quaint cottage with beautiful views from thew garden.

The cottage had everything we needed and the owners made us feel at home on the first day. It was our first family holiday with our new baby and everything ran smoothly with all the home comforts provided.
a comfortable home from home; and an ideal base for our walking

We were welcomed warmly by the owner of this property, and found that it was well equipped, and comfortable. Situated at the southern end of the Lake District, we completed many enjoyable walks and site-seeing trips during our week. The cottage is in Backbarrow, up a steep hill; it would be difficult to get to and fro without your own car, but the hill-side location gives you a beautiful view, over the steam railway, and the sun-set from the small garden is wonderful!

Met by owner on arrival. Neighbours also very friendly. Home was very clean and amenities good. The location was very scenic and close to main roads leading into lakes. Liked the area very much and the cottage was lovely - perhaps would have preferred more room around dining table. Overall a great place to stay.

A wonderful homely cottage with open fires with a spectacular view from the garden. I find it hard to leave the cottage as I could just sit and watch the train going back and forth, the waterfall, the woodpecker, the fighter jets and B52 bomber flying past. Wonderful owners always so kind to us. Would highly recommend.
