LondonA fantastic location for a ski holiday
Left on 06/04/2012 for a stay in February 2012
We visited Bad Ischl and stayed at the apline Meadows for the second time in as many years. This time we wanted to share our wonderful experience with our close friends as well and we insisted they join us.
In total, we were six adults and six kids, aged between 2 and 12, and at times the apartment wasn't the quietest place around... Despite this, Karen and Ken proved, yet again, that they can be great guests and accommodated our every wish. We even had a BBQ in their garden, one snowy night, something that unfortunately I don't think I will be doing again, anytime soon!
The apartment is just outside Bad Ischl , with its many restaurants and local attractions, of which Eurotherme is not to be missed, especially after a long day skiing.
If you're after a good standard of accommodation, in a quiet location, close enough to the ski runs or wonderful mountain walks (Postalm is only about 20 minutes away), then alpine Meadows is for you!
And one more thing: book nice and early, especially for half terms. I know I will! ;)

Left on 05/22/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We stayed here for 4 nights and found it to be an excellent choice for a home base while visiting this beautiful area of austria. So much more comfortable than a hotel and being able to cook at home was a real advantage for us. The owner was helpful and friendly.
Don't hesitate to rent this apartment --you will be very satisfied. -

Left on 05/16/2011 for a stay in May 2011
This holiday apartment really stood out from the rest as a great place to stay. Not only was it spacious, comfortable, and clean, but the kitchen was also large and more than well-equipped with loads of kitchen implements and crockery. My friends and I really enjoyed the collection of books (including all 7 of the Harry Potter series) and games/puzzles, as well as the brochures and maps about what to do in the area. Most importantly, Ken was a charming host who went above and beyond to make our stay convenient and comfortable. We can't wait to stay with the Faulkners again.

LondonGood value, excellent all-round accomodation
Left on 03/19/2011 for a stay in February 2011
We stayed at alpine Meadows with family and friends for a week and we had a brilliant time. Right from arrival we were blown away by Karen's home-made chocolate cake and her roast dinner. The rooms are clean and large and the open plan kitchen and dining are perfect for spending cosy winter nights with family and friends. Ken kindly let us use his bbq and the wood fired hot plate was an inspiration.
The area if very beautiful and close to ski areas and there are lots to do after ski as well. -

Wales and BahrainA week in Bad Ischl
Left on 02/06/2011 for a stay in December 2010
In looking for a winter break, Alpine Meadows offered the best self catering option being in a quiet location with excellent acccommodation standards. It is also very close to the town (Bad Ischl), Christmas Shopping Markets at Stroble, St Wolfgang and not forgetting the skiing at Postalm (brilliant). Its the perfect location to see all that the area has to offer and there is much more than we could see in a week.
Excellent restaurants ( at St Wolfgang, but Ken and Karen know of many more), dramatic mountain scenery, friendly locals, and if you do go in winter, Ken will let you shovel the snow off the driveway if you ask nicely (there is a regular snow plough if you are not that energetic).
The apartment was great, very warm (inspite of the several inches of snow outside), all facilities provided (clothes washing, cooking bed linen etc). Meals also provided if you are feeling lazy.
Last but not least, Karen and Ken were great hosts and their help and knowledge of the local area made the difference. Thanks.
Look forward to finding the time to go back for a longer stay.

NorthamptonGreat tour to austria and the Eagle's Nest
Left on 10/19/2010 for a stay in September 2010
We arrived for a long weekend in Bad Ischl, to tour austria and the Eagles Nest on the border with Germany. Arriving at Linz on Friday, we collected a car and followed the exceptionally accurate directions from the landlords to their door with no fuss. Sat Nav could take you miles over the mountains. The journey from Linz is easy: down the motorway and then turning off, straight to Bad Ischl. The Scenery is like a film set, all mountains lakes and blue skies/green meadows. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the hosts, and piled into the apartment. The accommodation was a four bedroom ground floor flat, with living/dining and kitchen areas. There are three double bedrooms and one with a bunk bed. The property was immaculately clean and very well appointed with modern kitchen, new bathroom and W.C. The accommodation exceeded all expectation, and was warm spacious and comfortable, Ideal for a business group, tourist, friends or a family. We woke to a locally sourced breakfast spread of cooked meats, eggs, cereals and museli. We spent Saturday in the picturesque nearby Wolfgangsee and took the cable car up the mountain from where the views are outstanding and the local town is very pretty with external murals and gardens all perfectly manicured. Even the locals played their part by proudly parading the national dress of Lederhosen and Dindles, even in the bars and restaurants it was still the dress code. Sunday, we drove to Berchtesgaden, assisted by Mr Faulkner's directions, which were more accurate than sat nav. This has to be on any tourist itinerary, and I will be back to visit the Museum, which closes at 5pm. It is worth noting that austria is closed on Sunday, only garages are open, not like the UK. Mr and Mrs Faulkner had advised us on our arrival, and they weren't kidding. Overall we had a great break; fantastic hosts, the location stunningly beautiful, and the accommodation above expectation in size, comfort and cleanliness- I would recommend to all.

CaterhamExcellent apartment in Bad Ischl
Left on 08/18/2010 for a stay in August 2010
This apartment is an easy drive from Salzburg and is in an excellent location for exploring the lakes and mountains around Bad Ischl. We received a very warm welcome from Ken and Karen who helped make our holiday so enjoyable, from giving advice on where to go to the delicious 3 course evening meals cooked by Karen and served by Ken. It is modern and spacious with a very well equipped kitchen (including toaster) and was cleaned every day. We were given clean towels and linen half way through our stay. The garden looks out over flower meadows and woods and is a great place to enjoy the scenery or have a BBQ.
The scenery is stunning and there is masses to do even when it rains - we can particularly recommend cycling round Wolfgangsee, summer toboganning at Strobl, the ice cave on Krippenstein, Hallstatt and its saltmines and Gosausee for the most picturesque lake - and coffee and cakes at Zauner's in Bad Ischl.
We have no hesitation in recommending alpine Meadows to anyone and would love to return one day to see all the things we didn't have time for. -

This was our first visit to Alpine Meadows but it will certainly not be our last! From the initial greeting of our hosts and an excellent meal provided for us we knew we would be well looked after. The self contained flat is spacious, well equipped and immaculately clean throughout. Our hosts were on hand when needed and always extremely helpful - even offering to drive us all down to the local restaurant and back again! A totally relaxing holiday in a beautiful scenic spot. Thank you.

NorthamptonComfort, tranquility and some wicked cool views
Left on 06/10/2010 for a stay in May 2010
I stayed at the alpine Meadows apartment in May 2010 and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from it all. When I arrived, the owners welcomed me like one of the family and couldn't have been more accommodating during my stay. The apartment was clean and spacious, with some proper lovely views across the valley from the sun room. The mountain and lakeside walks in the area are breathtaking and Bad Ischl its self is a wonderfull little town with plenty of charm and some lovely cafe bar.
Honestly, just what I needed to chill out and forget about 'real life' for a few days. -

Ken and Karen made us feel at home even before we arrived, they were very helpful from the time of enquiring about staying to make sure we got home ok.
Nothing was too much hassle. Karen helped us book snowboard lessons among things and Ken is very knowledgable about the area and its surroundings. We explained what we wanted from our holiday and they were able to point us to all the views, attractions and places that would cater for this.
The flat is very homely and cosy with everything and more that you want and need. The best holiday flat I've stayed in I think.
It is idealy based and gives you access to many attractions and amenities without having to go to far.
Whilst on our holiday my boyfriend proposed in Salzburg, so if anyone is looking for a romantic place you should definately consider staying in Austria in Ken and Karens flat.
There was nothing that I could say bad about my holiday, was a very memorable trip that was enhanced by the hospitality we reiceved from Ken and Karen. -

Left on 10/21/2009 for a stay in October 2009
I stayed at Alpine Meadows for a week in October, 2009. It is set in the breathtakingly beautiful Austrian countryside, surrounded by forests and snow capped mountains. The apartment itself is modern, clean, bright and spacious and could comfortably sleep a group of ten people. There is a fantastic self catering kitchen with everything you could need to cook food and a large dining table to eat it at. The toilet is seperate from the bathroom which is handy if you are travelling with a large group. It is near to lots of interesting sights that are definitely worth visiting, including the salt mines, Salzburg, the Eagle's nest and the picturesque village of St Wolfgang. In the winter season it is within 20 minutes drive of winter sports pistes with a range of activities for all ages. A perfect holiday apartment with warm, friendly and helpful hosts. Thank you to Karen nad Ken for a fantastic holiday!

Left on 10/20/2009 for a stay in October 2009
We were two and stayed October 12 to October 18. Karen and Ken were
excellent hosts right from the start. The apartment was very spacious. We
used the master bedroom but there would have been plenty of room for
more if we had travelled with friends, which is a consideration for next time.
The kitchen, dining room and lounge were very spacious and made for a
very comfortable stay. The bathroom and water closet were nice and
included heated floor tiles which was nice on cold snowy days.
Our hosts provided us with lots of options and suggestions for enjoying the
beautiful scenery in and around Bad Ischl, even on snowy days, which it did
from day one when we arrived.
The apartment was cleaned and set straight every morning while we were
out and our hosts always available if we had questions or needed anything.
We enjoyed our stay and the countryside, hills and villages around the lakes
are beautiful and the Austrians we encountered were very friendly and
welcoming.
We would stay at Alpine Meadows again, next time with a group of friends
as there is lots of space. -

We had a 3 day family vacation in Alpine meadows in August. That was just a perfect experience. The house is pretty comfortable, clean and big enough. A nice view of the mountains, perfect location for watching stars at night. It is easy to reach Everywhere in Salzkammergut within an hour. Very nice towns just in 10 minutes distance by car. Karen and Ken are so nice people and they did everything for our comfort. I totally recommend it.

As a family of five travelling by car the 900 miles to Bad Ischl we found the road system easy to navigate, smooth and generally free of congestion, apart from some minor hold ups through Germany.
Ken and Karen welcomed us on our arrival and were extremely friendly. Due to the lovely deep snow Ken had arranged for a friend with a four wheel drive to be available should we need our luggage transporting up the hill to the house. Fortunately snow chains had been purchased and were essential throughout the week. (Buy from Ebay before you get to Austria).
The apartment is a well laid out cosy floor of the house with plenty of room for my two teenage daughters and my five year old to have their own space or interact together. Games, books and tv are all provided. The kitchen and dining areas are great for self catering and we found it extremely easy to shop in the nearby town.
The apartment was spacious, comfortable, warm and cosy. We were able to park off the road and had easy access to three ski areas.
This was a fantastic family ski trip and we will definitely be visiting again. Throughout our stay Ken and Karen were the perfect hosts, always available with help and advice but never intrusive. I would highly recommend a visit! -

This is the second time that we have stayed here, the first in December 2007/January 2008 over the New Year when we experienced a very snowy and picturesque time.
The property is located in the countryside a couple of kilometres outside of Bad Ischl in the small village of Eck, in the Salzgammergut area. Its locatiom makes it perfect for visiting places such as Hallstadt, St Wolfgang, St Gilgen, Mondsee as well as Bad Ischl it's self. We found having a hire car was an advantage to get to these places, the car being picked up at Salzburg airport. Having also stayed here in the winter, there are plenty of ski slopes in the area as well as ski buses to get to them. If your a fan of the "Sound of Music" then this area is for you as much of the filming was done in the area.
The hosts Karen & Ken made sure we were well informed about the area, where to shop for food, gifts etc., what to visit, where to eat, nothing was too much trouble for them. They also ensured the accommadation a ground floor flat, was in a clean and immaculate condition when we arrived. There was certainly plenty of room in the accommodation and it was tastefully furnished.
This is a beautiful part of Austria and is well worth a visit which will be made more enjoyable by staying in good accommadation. By staying at Alpine Meadows thats what you get your friendly hosts will ensure that you get the most out of your visit what ever the time of the year. -

This was our third visit to Alpine Meadows. We have now sampled Summer, Autumn and Winter breaks there.
All three seasons have their own attractions and we consider this to be an all year round destination.
Alpine meadows is situated on the outskirts of Bad Ischl so you will need a car to make the most of your stay but the benefit is that it very tranquil place to rest your head.
The apartment is large, clean, comfortable and well fitted and during the cold seasons is warm & cosy.
Within short distances there are lots of things to keep you interested, Bad Ischl has a good selection of eating places if you want to go out for a meal, there are also a good selection of supermarkets and shops close by.
There are plenty of intersting walks on your doorstep and for skiers there are a number of good resorts within short driving distance - we particularly like Gosau which is about 20 - 30 minutes away.
Alpine meadows is around 30 minutes from Salzburg and an easy drive but dont rely on your Tom Tom for the last bit when you get to Bad Ischl - Hosts Ken & Karen provide clear directions which will save you getting lost.
We love the area, really like the apartment and look forward to returning in the future

A lovely one hour drive from Salzburg and there we were, surrounded by most breathtaking scenery so close to the apartment. Karen and Ken were excellent hosts, they made sure we had everything we needed, explained the area, offered to take us anywhere - they were there if we needed them but did not impose themselves unnecessarily.
the apartment was just right, and had everything we needed. we shopped at the local supermarket and so provided for ourselves, although Karen will do breakfast.
There is so much to see in the area, we explored everyday and still no way saw all we planned, so a return trip is definitely on the cards.
a really beautiful part of Austria and we fully recommend it all to you.
