Bald Head Island is a beautiful barrier island located on the Atlantic at the mouth of the Cape Fear River. The island has a plethora of natural environments: wild Atlantic beach, quiet, salt-water creeks and marches, coastal bird sanctuaries, maritime tropical forests, and river front. The best part of the island are the lack of cars, with walking, golf carts, and bicycles being the only modes of transportation. Nights are a star gazer's delight--no outdoor lights are allowed to help sea turtle hatchlings find their way to the sea. Visitors can also enjoy the island's famed golf course, swimming pools, tennis courts and spa.
