      Great time at Ja'a Bali

Left on 11/07/2012 for a stay in October 2012

My wife and I stayed at the villa during the early part of October for our 25th wedding anniversary and have been craving to go back.

The drive from the south is long but scenic and as soon as you enter the villa all aches and pain from the drive up dissapear.

Staff are very attentive and an asset to Ja'a Bali, Mercy is a fine cook and always cleaning or cooking.

The villa was beautiful, views of the sea and a fine sized pool. The only negative things about the villa were that the beach was not inviting and in the evenings lounge and main bedroom were too dark, also could do with more lighting plus a shaving mirror is required in the ensuite bathroom of the main bedroom.

All in all a great time we had and look forward to returning with the kids one day.

I did not want to leave. Simply wonderful.

Left on 08/08/2012 for a stay in August 2012

I stumbled across this vila thanks to google and trip advisor.

The journey from DPS to the villa was long, very long; indeed at times utterly frustrating and at times wonderful. The roads are  congested, winding and you are unlikely to get above 30 klm/ hr. Around the airport, Kuta , Sanur  etc you will crawl along at speeds you can walk faster. The last part of the journey is over an un paved road which must be close to impassable when it rains.

However at the end of the journey is a fabulous villa, it is 2 years old with 3 ensuite bedrooms all with aircon and fans. The sunrise in august from the main bedroom is glorious and the sunsets delightful.

The villa is large with vaulted ceilings and lots of fans, we found it comfortable and ideal for a family looking for solitude and quiet. The villa, aside from having Mercy as the housekeeper and cook, has other great staff. There is a fully equipped kitchen, 3 showers and an extra guest toilet.

The pool area is sufficient for a family and there are  6 sun loungers, 3 sun shades plus various chairs, day beds and bale as well as a decent pool and jacuzzi.

It is absolute beachfront but the beach is black volcanic sand with a great many rocks and sadly a great deal of rubbish. So whilst the villa and grounds are immaculate, the  beach is poor, very poor indeed and quite unsuitable for swimming, especially children. I would also go as far as to say it is unsuitable even to stroll along such is its condition

Our reaction when arriving just after dark was wow! More so the next day in the clear light of day. The view from the dining table is glorious and the view from the master bedroom is wonderful.

Mercy  was lovely providing great breakfasts, lunches and dinners on request. She provided lunch and dinner day one and thereafter but we also used the nearby hotels on two occasions but to be fair, Mercy provided better fayre.

There is a large sitting area with a sofa and large coffee table. There is a modern flat screen tv, DVD player, stereo and satellite system. The villa also has WiFi, but the Internet connection was infuriatingly slow and wholly unreliable.

In today's connected world the access available at the villa could never be reasonably be  described as being high speed. You can access and send email but beyond looking at the odd web site anything else was near on impossible. Forget FaceTime, downloads or watching video. I could occasionally get radio but the constant buffering made it difficult to follow.

As this was during the London Olympics the lack of streaming was frustrating. I should also mention that setting up the iPad to link to wifi and the Internet was very challenging and I did it after an hour of trying. That was due in large part to the way the wifi worked in conjunction with the service provider.( who incidentally disconnected the link every 10 minutes on the dot)

The main bedroom had a huge bed with a net which I was grateful for. It kept the mosquito at bay of which there were many.

The main bathroom had a shower and toilet as well as a wholly useless washbasin and a mirror you needed to kneel down to use. A shaving mirror is urgently required.

Both guest room had bathrooms which were significantly better equipped and were user friendly and open air, which is the custom in Bali and was wonderful

The days slipped by all too quickly and we simply stayed by the pool and relaxed. Mercy produced superb meals and we simply enjoyed the long warm sunny days of august with the stiff sea breezes which keep the temperatures under control.

We had one day out while there and used Putu. We visited a waterfall, the town of Lovinia and the local hot springs. It was a lovely day out but it was great to return to our isolated villa in the afternoon.

We used Zen for spa treatments and again that was fabulous.

In short this is a wonderful place to stay if isolation is what you are after. If it is then go and soon, if however you are looking for night life or even just activities then it may be best to go elsewhere.

My family and I would very much hope to return, we loved it.

Going to Bali..? Choose the North...

Left on 03/20/2012 for a stay in March 2012

Having now been, I think it would be a terrible thing to miss out on the north of Bali. If you are stopping for more than 3 days then do more than just the tourist usuals.

I could tell that Ja'a Bali was going to be well run from the correspondence I had with the owner. He was punctual in replying, concise and even suggested itineraries. I had a special request for the newlyweds in my party and it was no problem, and of course completed for our arrival.

After an eventful trip we were glad to arrive at Ja'a Bali. We were welcomed by Mercy with fresh fruit juices (prepared on site) and a nice chilled face towel. She then gave us the tour and prepared breakfast for us. Mercy was lovely, and we all looked forward to see her in the mornings and enjoyed the breakfast she expertly prepared for us.

Mercy also prepared an evening meal for us, which was lovely, went to the market for us and of course tidied everything, and ensured everything was in its place when we returned from our daily excursions.

The Villa is lovely; we all enjoyed our rooms, the open-plan style, the tasteful decor, and the little touches here and there. Our party ranged from 12 to 50+ and it suited each of us.

The grounds were lovely and well kept, and so close to the sea, the breeze was fantastic, and the patio area and pool were well lit, just perfect for al-fresco dining.

We could not resist spending one whole day in the Villa, just chilling. There is an extensive film selection and games etc, we also had Balinese massages by the pool, which we asked Mercy to organise for us.

When planning to come to Bali I was toying with the idea of driving a rental car myself, I am glad that I chose not to, I settled on a car with driver, in fact Putu, the driver recommended by the owner. This was one of the best decisions, as I think I was able to enjoy the journeys out so much more. Putu was not only a driver; he was a tour guide, a 'fixer' and a friend to us.

Ja'a Bali is certainly not on the doorstep of the airport, you have to travel further to enjoy the authentic Bali, which is made much more enjoyable when you leave the logistics to Putu. He is very knowledgeable and a very safe driver. I was also more than satisfied with the vehicles he used. He greeted us at the airport and took us everywhere we went until it was time to send us back. We managed to see a lot of the island, north and south. Once you are in the countryside the views are stunning, as is the journey to Ja'a Bali. I particularly loved the lakes and mountain, and it’s great to stop at a warung for a Kopi Jahe.. (Ginger coffee) Do it..!

By all means, visit Kuta and Denpasar to say you have been, but stop at Ja'a Bali in the north...

Truely amazing did not want to leave

Left on 12/17/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Arriving at Ja'a Bali was like coming home after being away.
Was welcomed by Mercy and Made we felt like we knew them already.
Truely amazing home absolutley loved being there. With 2 teenage children we thought this would be a test as kids get bored..but saw such a difference in them, they loved Ja'a, the pool the beach they even cleaned up after themselves so to make Mercy's job easier. They fell in love with Mercy as we all did and wanted to kidnap her and take her back to australia with us. Mercy would cook for us and all our eyes would light up with what she put on the table, nothing was ever a trouble for her. We would all look forward to her arriving in the morning and would hate to see her go of a night.Made, who looked after the garden/pool was a very nice young man and a hard worker did a great job. Aguse, who was the night security also did a great job as well, my children got on with them really well, they were all like part of the family which we needed as a family as staying at Ja'a we got to know each other all over again. We did not want to leave. On this trip which we did for 8 weeks and stayed in 26 different homes, hotels and resorts this was for us as a family with teenages, by far the best ever with the most fun and memories. To the owners of Ja'a.. Thankyou Lara for all your help in the beginning and information and Steve for your information also this was a nice personal touch. You have the best home the best location and the best staff we have come across in our travels. Can't say enough as it would turn into a book.We will be back!

      Magical, Lovely staff, paradise

Left on 12/12/2011 for a stay in October 2011

The pictures dont do this lovely place enough justice.. It was the perfect place to get away from it all. Mercy was our beautiful housekeeper, she was so humble and sweet and so happy. I suffered a slight accident the week before in the south and she was the utmost accomodating.. The villa was so clean and everyday she would prepare breakfast. Made and agus were very lovely boys who kept the grounds in stunning condition and looked after us at night. There is plenty to do, I recommend that is staying you organise Putu as your driver as it is remote! He took us all over the island and nothing was too much trouble. By the end of the week they were like part of the family and made the trip to Bali all that more inspirational.. Rooms were beautiful, the pool area was great and there were just two other properties nearby so it was very peaceful for walks along the beach. The nearby town of Lovina provided us with fun nights out, and I would highly recommend Mercy's cooking... the best I ate in Bali!!! I would love to return to this beautiful place and hope I can one day!! Amazing, the sea greets you in the morning for breakfast and the sunsets over the mountains behind were magical!!

      Fabulous Villa

Left on 09/30/2011 for a stay in August 2011

We stayed a Ja'a Bali for 11 nights and had an amazing time.

The villa is spacious and well appointed inside and out. The patio, pool side and garden has numerous beautiful spots to relax whether you want sun, or shade.

From it's beach side location you also get to see a little bit of local life with fishermen and small fishing boats passing from time to time. We even saw dolphins on our first day.

The staff who work at Ja'a Bali are amazing and will truly do whatever they can to ensure you have a great time. In particular Mercy the housemaid and Putu the driver.

Location is rural and quiet, and for us was all the better for it but in our eyes it made a driver essential as we didn't want to drive ourselves on the rather chaotic roads. With the cheap cost of services in Bali - this isn't a bad solution.

Only negative comment was that the beach is not great and we didn't use it at all. However the sea views make up for it and and as long as you don't mind that your kids can't really play on the beach or go in the sea, it's fine.

A fantastic holiday in a beautiful location.

Left on 07/02/2011 for a stay in June 2011

The house, the location, the service was all fantastic. It was incredibly relaxing with day beds dotted all round the place. The weather was wonderful - we dived in Menjangan Island, cycled from the 2 lakes to Seririt, snorkled off the beach at the villa, visited the hot springs and shopped in Lovina - if you wanted to do things there was plenty to do, if you just wanted to relax - that was easy too. An absolutely fantastic holiday and we would love to go again. Thanks team Jaa Bali for such an amazing place!

      Ja'a Bali rocks our world!

Left on 06/28/2011 for a stay in June 2011

The most relaxing holiday we've ever had, in the most idyllic place with the friendliest staff! The villa itself is very well equipped with amazingly comfortable beds with wonderful cotton linen, beautiful bathrooms and a great sofa with tonnes of Dvd's for those lazy afternoons/evenings. The staff running the villa are some of the friendliest people I've ever met and nothing is too much trouble. The setting of the villa is perfect, being secluded yet close to town so shopping and eating out is easy. It is very different from the south of Bali which tends to be plagued with hawkers and tourists, we felt it was a much more authentic experience of Bali and much more relaxing. We travelled with our 18 month old son and the villa was totally baby friendly and with fantastic grounds and pool he never got bored. There is also so much to do around the area, dolphin watching, snorkeling, scuba diving, cycling, trekking, yoga...it's endless! The only bad part of the stay was that I had to leave and couldn't move in permanently! We will definitely be back!

      Great Villa!

Left on 06/01/2011 for a stay in May 2011

Many people who have stayed in a villa in Bali will have been disappointed by the 'unusual' design features in their property - no joke if you are there for a couple of weeks. Jaa Bali will not disappoint - the owner has obviously put a lot of care into making this property a delight. The three bedrooms are large and comfortable and the living areas both within the house and the patio and pool areas are spacious, comfortably furnished and fitted out to a high standard where everything works! The villa staff, led by Mercy, all do a great job in keeping the place looking fantastic, and if you are lucky enough to stay there, make sure your sample Mercy's home cooking - especially her Balinese breakfast! Our holiday there was brief but we certainly hope to return. For anyone looking for a peaceful holiday destination this is a great place to be.

Left on 05/09/2011 for a stay in May 2011

The location of this Villa is definitely worth the drive from Denpasar airport. The property is absolutely beautiful and does not lack for anything! It has all the up-to-date conveniences including high-speed internet access. There are excellent Spa(s) very closeby, you can walk there or they will pick you up or they will come to you. The road to the Villa is great for a run in the mornings. You will require the services of a car and driver to get to restaurants because it is a bit remote but the cost of acquiring the car service is inexpensive for the entire day and definitely well worth it. We went grocery shopping for the week's meals, so that we could enjoy the pool/ocean longer and ate in and watched DVD movies. On our last day,we left around 10am and headed to Ubud which was a perfect plan as it didn't cut into our blissful week by the pool/ocean at the Villa and Ubud was on the way back to the airport on our departure day anyway (well closer to the airport than the Villa). The driver took us up to the top of the mountains and stopped along the way at the Water Temple and a few other photo opp places. Great to have the Driver for the entire day as he also acted as our Tour Guide. The housekeeper at the Villa was very sweet and incredibly accomodating with helping to prepare meals. Breakfast was always prepared for us, Villa cleaned and beds made every day. We did not want to leave...it was absolute heaven! Would love to go back again (tomorrow if possible)!

Enjoyed an absolutely stunning few days at this idyllic villa on the peaceful north coast. The 'off the beaten track' location truly adds to the feeling of relaxation as you float in the pool looking out to sea, watching the local fishing boats coming and going. Beautiful accommodation inside and out and truly excellent service from the friendly staff. I will definitely be going back.

I think one event summed up my time at Ja'a Bali; when I was sitting in the jacuzzi watching a stunning sunset and saw dolphins and a whale swimming by! I have travelled alot in South East asia and this place is by far the best place I have stayed in. The location is so peaceful and the villa is beautiful yet comfortable with excellent amenities. I was very impressed with how welcoming and attentive the staff were too. The owners have done a really fantastic job in creating a friendly and relaxed atmosphere at Ja'a Bali. I would recommend this place to everyone and I will definitely, definitely be visiting again!
