Villa Bunga Wangi is constructed in the traditional Balinese style consisting of separate pavilions located within 1500 sq.ms of landscaped gardens, designed by the award winning landscape architect, Made Wijaya. From the Balinese entrance gates to the villa grounds, one finds oneself descending the white stone steps through the landscaped gardens to the extraordinary ten metre high main living/dining pavilion which overlooks the natural green stone swimming pool nestled adjacent to the Pangi River.

The main living and dining pavilion, with its flagstone floor, is well suited for small functions or family reunions, while the adjacent fl...at lawn is perfect for Balinese dance performances. This sizeable open air pavilion is furnished with antique daybeds, an antique wooden coffee table, large cushions and a dining table for eight. Ceiling fans ensure the comfort of the guests, sturdy pillars support the shingle roof, and a bar to one side serves as a breakfast bar or a drinks bar. The pavilion is also graced with a number of antique artifacts including an ornamental painted wall panel that forms a striking centre-piece, flanked by a pair of Javanese statues resting in softly lit alcoves.

Each of the three individual air-conditioned bedroom pavilions is a short stroll through the villa grounds and each consists of a bedroom with king size bed, balcony overlooking the gardens and spacious ensuite bathroom and private courtyard with outdoor shower.

The lovely terraced garden was created by the acclaimed landscape architect, Made Wijaya, who is well known for his romantic garden designs. White Palimanan steps lead past pink hibiscus, hand carved stone statues, and a lotus pond filled with Koi fish.

At the lowest level of the garden there is a kidney-shaped swimming pool, fashioned from green Javanese slate. It is characterised by an infinity edge and is bordered by flowering heliconia, coconut palms and the Pangi River. The pool area is furnished with sunloungers and also features a thatched relaxation balé pavilion.

  Hard to Beat

  This was our first stay at this friendly and incredibly serene Villa, but hopefully not our last. We travelled with two other couples, one of which had stayed at least twice before, and for them, it was like coming home. After an hour I felt the same way. Chef Ketut and the staff were all so welcoming, attentive and funny, friendly people. I didn't know how I'd feel being surrounded by staff all day, but we all genuinely enjoyed their company. The food was outstanding - we tried to make our way through the entire menu but were defeated by such extensive choice - and Ketut's sambal is to die for!
  The setup is perfect for three or four couples holidaying together, we had ample space and privacy to ensure we were all still talking at the end of the week. Four poster beds and the primitive luxury of a warm outdoor shower add a real touch of tropical romance in the bedroom quarters.
  The lush garden setting is immaculately maintained, and comes with a soundtrack of lowing cattle, birdsong and running water. Timeless. We were hard-pressed to leave the poolside somedays, and if you've seen the sights before, there's no real need to get in a car even if you want total r&r; Balinese style - local dancers, musicians and beauticians all make house calls! A short stroll past the rice paddies into the local village provided us with some terrific photo ops and a chance to meet some very gracious locals. We were welcomed off the street into a young girl's family home, simply so she could introduce us to her grandmother. Kids posed for photographs and thanked us for taking them. We were the only tourists around, which made us feel very special.
  If you're used to staying in the bustle of Semanyak and other tourist hubs, the location may seem a little out of the way, but in reality there's a cab rank up the road (and conveniently, a money exchange shack with pretty decent rates) and a driving service available through the villa. Would love to come back one day!

  We have just returned from our 4th visit to Villa Bunga Wangi - need I say more? I will anyway. This villa is just bliss - set in a tropical paradise, nestled next to a rice paddy. Wherever you are in the immaculately kept villa grounds there is something beautiful to look at. The bedroom pavillions are all separate and tastefully furnished with luxurious bathrooms and amazing outdoor showers. They each have a terrace with a huge daybed where you can curl up with a book or have an early morning cuppa or afternoon tea. The magnificent dining pavillion is very grand and a wonderful place to relax on the comfy Balinese daybeds or for dinner with friends. We were looked after splendidly by the staff and the cook makes the most scrumptious meals. The pool is in a wonderful setting and there is also a bale where you can have a massage. It's a little way out from all the hustle and bustle but we never want to leave the peace and tranquility of the villa anyway. You can however easily get a taxi into Seminyak or hire a car or mopeds.
