With open views to the surrounding Highlands of Scotland, the cottage is set within enchanting grounds.

Follow the path at the end of the garden and you will find yourself on the Speyside Way; a 50 mile footpath that leads from the Moray Firth, with its beautiful beaches and fishing villages, through to the stunning Grampian Mountains and on towards the Cairngorms.

Situated in Scotland near Aberlour, known locally as “The Jewel of Speyside”, The Old Byre holiday cottage is in the heart of Malt Whisky country, indeed the world famous Malt Whisky Trail weaves right past the door.

The Cairngorm National Park is only... five miles to the south, with all it's walking and climbing opportunities.

Iideally located in the heart of Speyside. From here, you can relax amongst stunning mountains, lochs, glens and forests, walk along miles of beautiful Moray Firth coastline, see an incredible array of wildlife, immerse yourself in thousands of years of history and indulge your senses within the whisky capital of the world.

Only a few miles away from the holiday cottages are the Cairngorm Mountains where you can ride Scotland’s highest mountain railway and walk amongst beautiful Caledonian pine forests. In winter the Cairngorms, along with the close by Lecht ski centre, have attracted some of Britain’s best snowboarders and skiers.

A walk around the stunning Loch an Eilein is highly recommended, so is a trip on the Strathspey Steam Railway, where you can take afternoon tea as you travel through the wonderful Scottish scenery and beside the wonderful River Spey.

For outdoor enthusiasts Scotland offers everything from watersports to walking, mountain biking to fishing, golfing to surfing.

The holiday cottage owner, who lives close by, is a qualified mountain bike instructor and can offer guided rides or tuition around the myriad mountain bike trails or just suggest Scottish Highland rides that will suit your style of riding.

  A lovely, modern cottage with all the mod cons you could wish for. Very comfy beds, warm and well kept. Nice bathroom with powerful shower and a big bath.
  
  The Old Byre is a good base for walking, biking and whisky tasting! But equally good for staying in sat on the comfy sofas in front of the wood burning stove.
  
  We really enjoyed our stay, the owners were very friendly and happy to offer advice on local sights and activities. We would recommend the cottage to anyone and will definitely stay here when we come back to the Cairngorms.
