Coastal Cottage near sea beach and mountain views

This large Kerry self-catering holiday home is a spacious detached house. It has 4 bedrooms, two very large rooms each with a King size bed and a single bed & two with Double beds all rooms with sea views, 3 bathrooms (one with jacuzzi bath), two large reception rooms and is fully equipped with everything to make your holiday an enjoyable one. There are extras to make it a home from home e.g. extra china & utensils, a fully equipped picnic basket & beach mats, among other things. Condiments, such as olive oil, salt, pepper, spices etc and cleaning stuffs. Even wellingtons & fishing equipment & lots more. The extra large upstairs sitting room... has two balconies offering panoramic views. There is satellite TV in the 2 sitting rooms each has a tv. It has some of the most scenic views across Balinskelligs Bay. Ballinskelligs is renowned for its miles of golden beaches (Blue Flag Award) and turquoise water. The area has its own Irish College, where children come in summer to learn the Irish Language. The area has a unique history and culture and was the mainland connection for the monks that lived on Skellig Michael.

The Blue Flag Beach, where the 16th Century Castle of the McCarthy was built to protect the bay from pirates, is a few minutes walk from Dungegan and is spectacular in fine weather but also makes for a beautiful setting for walking or some quiet thought on a blustery day. The village of Dungegan is typical of most rural Irish villages. Village life is centered on the local shops and pubs in the evenings, where you can enjoy traditional Irish music and dancing.

It is is easily accessible through Cork and Kerry airports and 1 hour drive from Killarney train station. 1 hour drive from Kerry Airport (Direct flights with Ryan Air from Dublin, London Luton & Stansted and Frankfurt Hahn)

At the rear of the house is a secluded Large patio area for outdoor eating with BBQ & wooden garden furniture, it overlooks the expanse of the Bay and there is an landscaped gardens, a dry stone wall & Ranch style wooden gate at the entrance.

For the lazy days there are plenty of distractions in the house to keep you amused including satellite television, DVDs, books, X-box, games, and board games. There is a real open fire in the sitting room.

Some of the nearby lakes and beaches attract anglers from all over Europe and there are fishing rods and tackle for use by anyone interested. Ballinskelligs Water sports is locally based & hires kayaks, boats and windsurfing. , scuba diving can be done also. Local areas of interest include Valentia Island, Knightstown-Cahirciveen Ferry, Glanleam House Sub Tropical Gardens, Skellig Rocks Boat Trips, St Finians Bay (Surfing), Waterville & Skelligs Golf Courses, Portmagee Village, Waterville Lake Fishing, Sailing and Kayaking and Skelligs Chocolate Factory. Beautiful walks, cycles and drives. Award winning seafood restaurants within 10 minutes drive.

A highlight is a boat trip from the local pier to the stunning Skellig Michael .Skellig Rock

The Skellig rocks, which are located 12kms off the coast of Kerry, are of such an importance that they have been made a World Heritage Site. When you first see The Skelligs you wonder how or why anyone would live on such a remote rock in the middle of The Atlantic Ocean, when you visit and stand on the site of the monastery and Experience the Skelligs then you begin to understand.

Waterville is just 10 minutes drive The late Henry Cotton, three times British Open Champion, probably said it best when he commented: "Waterville has to be one of the greatest golf courses ever built. If it were located in Britain, it would undoubtedly be a venue for the British Open. I have never seen a more consistent succession of really strong and beautiful golf holes than here."

Another jewel in the crown is Dooks. The golf course is laid out on one of three stretches of sand dunes at the head of Dingle Bay. In the immediate foreground are the dune peninsulas of Rossbeigh and Inch, while just a few short miles away, the whitewashed houses of Cromane fishing village provide another eye catching distraction. To the southeast are the famed peaks of McGillycuddy Reeks, while looking northwards across the bay; one can see Slieve Mish and the Dingle mountains dominate the landscape. Dooks offers the visitor a unique links experience in a majestic setting and is perfectly suited to the golfer seeking a tranquil environment in which to enjoy a superb golf course. The par 3, 13th hole, measuring 150 yards, probably best represents the charm and magic that is inherent at Dooks.

Other nearby activities include cycling, walking, horse riding, fishing, diving, windsurfing,& many other water-sports.

The house is located walking distance the small village of Dungegan which has a wonderful art gallery run by Noelle (which has a seasonal restaurant) and pub. It is also walking distance from the blue flag Ballinskelligs beach and Cable O'Leary's hotel and bar.

  Overlooking the tranquil Ballinskelligs Bay on the Ring of Kerry is this luxury house which is fully modernised. We stayed here a whole week and it served as a perfect base to visit Waterville, Caherdaniel, Killarney, Tralee, Valentia Island and of course the Ring of Kerry. Provisions can be sought in nearby Carherciveen such as top quality local meats and of course barbecue charcoals. In Ballinskelligs itself there is a great pub serving delicious home-cooked meals, again overlooking the bay.
  
  The beach itself is only a few minutes walk away and is a great spot to unwind in after a day's holiday touring.
  
  The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave and a full set of lovely crockery and cutlery to make the home-cooked meals special. There are lots of rooms to retreat to and this house would suit a young family like ours or groups of friends or couples looking for a quality place to relax. There is of course ample golfing if you want down at Waterville, and frequent boat trips to the Ballinskelligs Rocks and out to see dolphins, as well as fishing. Locally there is the delightful chocolate manufacturer and a cultural centre. As this area is in the Gaeltacht - which is Irish speaking, a few words in Irish in the local shops will go a long way to make people welcome you.

  Wonderful, Peaceful a home from home

  We had a wonderful family holiday at this cottage. Everything one could think of was supplied. Our every need was met. It is the first time we experienced a house that thought of supplying so much even a food mixer and slow cooker.

  My husband & I truly enjoyed our Irish adventure, the cottage is in a superb location overlooking the sea and Ballinskelligs bay, the views were breathtaking. The cottage was well equipped, had all the amenities needed and felt very much like home. Leesha, whom we rented the cottage from was very organised, efficient and answered all of our questions with speed. There was so much to see and do around the area and we found that the ring of Kerry really did live up to name of being one of the most scenic places to visit in the world. I would always recommend visiting Ireland and if you are going to do it, then this would be the best place to start!

  Amazing Relaxing Holiday Home

  This is a great house to stay in while exploring
  South Kerry, or just enjoying the locale. Plenty of
  space, with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and two
  living rooms! We had great weather during our stay
  and enjoyed barbecuing in the garden. The owners are
  very pleasant to deal with, and the house is very
  well appointed. On the few days where the weather
  wasn't great we used the x-box, DVD player and
  numerous games that the owners make available for
  your use. The house is walking distance from the
  marvellous Ballinskelligs beach, and all the local
  amenities, including Cill Rialig arts center.

  Heavenly Vacation

  We had a wonderful vacation in this great home. It truly was a home from home as everything was supplied more than the usual - above and beyond what we needed. We enjoyed the great golfing which was just a short drive from a number of courses. Even though the cooking facilities were excellent we enjoyed several of the magnificent restaurants in the area. We will be back and have told friends about this home from home.
  Extremely relaxing, and the view from all the rooms overlooking the Atlantic cannot be beaten,especially if you enjoy curling up and reading. There is lots of space and nothing is missing. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with all the pots, spices,oils etc that you would need and we wanted for nothing.
  
  We cannot recommend this property highly enough, and will definitely be back again.

  Simply Stunning and Spectacular

  Stunning and spectacular are the first two words
  that spring to mind when I think back to our stay
  in this fantastic property. The views are simply
  breathtaking from every window in the house. One of
  the greatest pleasures was waking up and looking
  out at the amazing scenery from the comfort of the
  bed, with the same view available in each of the
  four bedrooms. Indeed, there was nothing more pleasurable than having a glass of wine on the
  upstairs balcony and watching the sunset over the
  islands. The kids loved the place as there was
  about 1/2 an acre of garden to play in. We were
  only a couple of hundred yards walk from the beach
  where we hired out sea kayaks and also did a bit of
  wind surfing. The local gastro pub overlooking the
  beach is very child friendly and serves great food
  while the Cill Rillig arts centre is even closer
  still and offers coffees/lunches all served,
  incredibly, by a Michelin star chef. We recommended
  this place to friends who are booked to go down in
  August and we're looking forward to returning ourselves next year as it was a very memorable
  holiday for the whole family.
