Description from the manager
This typical Scottish farmhouse sits in a spectacular location at the head of a beautiful glen, deep in the mountains of the Trossachs on the renowned ’Braes of Balquihidder’. Freshly decorated and comfortably furnished in a simple, unpretentious style, this would be the perfect base for an outdoor activity holiday. With double glazing and an open log fire it is ideal for a relaxing break away from it all, at any time of the year. The owners working sheep farm is nearby and there is a lovely atmosphere of tranquility and remoteness. Local hero Rob Roy McGregor lived most of his life in the original house on this site in the early...Read more

A house full of history in idyllic surroundings at the head of a glen. For our party of three generations of adults it was just what we wanted. There was little reason ever to go out of the glen; simply sitting in the garden and painting the views, in all directions. The young mountain biker and hill walker was absolutely thrilled with his achievements. Venison from the farm was delicious; the kitchen spacious and we found all that we wanted. The best thing of all, for once, was the weather,

InverclydeLarge, traditional cottage but very, very cold
Left on 03/02/2012 for a stay in February 2012
This remote, traditional cottage is lovely and spacious, but due to very poor heating (storage heaters) and an additional cost for heating the cottage, the holiday was somewhat ruined by this. By the third day, we could still see our breaths in the cottage! We lit the coal/log fire frequently, but really, to no avail. Every night we were huddled up, three layers of clothing and a duvet!! The cottage is lovely, very spacious, but unfortunately, the heating is a big, big turn off, despite the weather being relatively mild for the time of year. We've been to a quite a few traditional stone cottages and this one is, by far, the coldest ever! Not very happy with the initial price being displayed on the website for less than the actual price once vat and other fees are included either.

we had a lovely week here, it was quite remote with deer coming around the cottage, the cottage had a lovely open coal fire and it was very warm and extremely cosy, we reckomend it highly to anyone who is looking for a cosy remote, roomy cottage with lovely scenery around it, just make sure you bring plenty of food and drink because it is a long drive to the shop !! lovely bike rides can be taken here as well

This is our third stay here and as always you get what you expect stunning views of the mountains ( when its not raining ! and it usually rains a lot ) , great walks in the valley and more importantly no one bothers you ,its just total peace. The 8 mile single track road could be a problem if you are not a confidant driver, it does test your abillity at times, but as I say we have been 3 times so it suits us fine.

Left on 03/09/2011 for a stay in February 2011
We had a very restful week at the house. The owners were very welcoming and friendly.
The house is about eight miles off the main road (a few pot holes to watch out for!) and perfect for getting away from it all - no mobile signals, traffice etc.
A stunning location with cycling and lots of mountain walking from the house - no need to get in a car at all.
Nearest main town for shopping probably Callander, but there is a little post office just by the Kings House Hotel. There is a hotel about half way up the glen just past Balquidder that is very welcoming - they do food but we didnt try it, just had a pitstop for drinks mid way through a bike ride.
The house was well equipped and furnished, beds comfy and the coal fire was lovely. Heating on night storage heaters so a bit chilly at times but no problem as fuel was included.
Just what we needed!

Left on 11/05/2010 for a stay in April 2010
We choose the cottage as it seemed remote enough but not too far to travel from home ( around an hour and a half). The cottage is actually quite remote and the road to it has some of the most beautiful scenery. The cottage itself is located amidst the farm but don't let that put you off as it never intruded on us. The owner could not have been more helpful and we were delighted with the service received. The house was very comfortable with everything you could wish for provided. When we stayed it was a single dwelling but the owners seemed to be renovating the other half of the building so it might now be a semi-detached but I would still highly recommend this cottage , just make sure you take all the groceries/wee luxuries necessary as the closest shop's are a wee bit away!!
