We were pleased with our choice
Left on 02/15/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We stayed 5 nights in apartment Rose, on the 24th floor. We loved the peace and quiet after our hectic outings in Bangkok! The apartment was very comfotable, and well equipped. We didn't cook for ourselves, but could have if we wished, and it was useful to have a washing machine. As others reviewers mentioned, the building exterior is a little tired, and a few tiles had come off the swimming pool surround, but these were minor niggles. The pool itself was lovely (on 6th floor with views over the river) and there was a well equipped gym. You can walk over Taksim bridge (quite a climb up to it though, and arduous in the heat!), taking the building ferry or the little local ferry which only costs 3 baht if I remember correctly, and then you have the choice of the Skytrain or the river express ferries to travel round Bangkok. We also had a brief interruption to internet service, but it was pretty reliable while we were there.
Having the directions to the property in Thai in the downloadable pdf file from the site proved really useful -

Stayed in the Marigold apartment with our two adult children for 7 nights. Our first time in Bangkok and having an apartment was good value and gave us plenty of room to stretch out.
The apartment was well appointed, although the decor was a bit dated. It was handy being able to set up three separate bedrooms to cater for different airconditioning requirements. Kitchen was handy for cooking breakfast, but really not necessary when it is so cheap to eat out. Beds were typical Thai hardness!
The view from the 25th floor was great, it was interesting to watch the comings and goings on the River.
The private boat for the apartment building was great and once on the boat it took about 15-20 minutes to get across the river and into Siam station on the Skytrain. Very convenient.
The building itself felt a bit deserted, but there were no problems and the general area felt extremely safe. The building has its own security staff as well. Paint peeling on the buildign looked a bit strange, but there was some maintenance going on while we were there, and there were no issues.
The only real problem was intermittant wifi, which affected our ability to organise our outings into Bangkok. I think this was a problem with the building itself, rather than the apartment managers, but it was very inconvenient. It just shows how dependant we are on the internet these days!
I would stay here again if I needed the space, no problems at all, but I would also consider staying closer in to the city in a hotel, rather than an apartment.Response from Jonathan Watkins - 02/08/2013

Dear Dave,
May I thank you for choosing to stay with us at TheRiversideBangkok apartment Marigold and for the time that you have taken to write a review.
I certainly welcome your feedback as it helps us to maintain our standards and the experience you share is precious for us. Over the new year we did experience some discontinuities for the WiFi services which have been promptly solved by the local provider.
Thank you again

Penang Island, MalaysiaExcellent apartment and base for exploring Bangkok
Left on 11/05/2012 for a stay in September 2012
I have stayed in this apartment block twice and to me it probably one of the best value deals I have come across in my travels. Just across the river from the Shangri La where a room is smaller and several times the price but the views are the same.
The building staff from the doorman to the guard at the front gate could not be more professional nor welcoming.
The pool area is lovely and one could just go on.
On my second visit I upgraded to a corner apartment and the view was spectacular. The only negative was that our apartment did not have an air conditioner in the bathroom and as the windows did not open it was very hot in that room. A pity as I could easily have soaked in the big tub watching the river boats ply the waters. -

We stayed in one bedroom apartment Orchid. For the price, the apartment was fabulous. Tall windows frame the Bangkok river skyline and at night with the city lights, the apartment is very romantic indeed. It's also a great place to chill with Dvds, which are so cheap and abundant in Bangkok.
The air con is quiet and non-drafty and you can open it up and use the ceiling fan. The building is pretty quiet, seems like it isn't fully occupied, so it feels rather private. Location is not fancy but you will never starve. There's a lot of cheap hawker food in the neighborhood, plus convenience stores. The clincher was the washing machine in the apartment - no more long treks to laundromats! All in all, it was pretty ideal for our needs.
A minor point- duvets are not provided so bring your own if needed. The apartments are cleaned once a week but you'd probably need to clean it an extra time. -

Flat was well-furnished/equipped..the ferry service was very useful..housekeeping service was very good..Diamond was extremely helpful and Jonathan is a really splendid chap..they are an excellent team and really made the whole process of booking/payment etc very smooth and fuss-free
Criticisms: 1. tv channels are very limited; 2. shower temperature was impossible to control, and was basically just short of boiling/scalding -

Travelled with 7 girls and rented Bouganville unit. The condo was clean, big and spacious with a stunning river view. We had a great time staying. Owner was very attentive. Included beverage, fruits and food in the fridge for us.
However, owner need to service the air-con because a few of them are leaking. Hot water are not really available when we need it.
And mind the neighbours. Very rude. One of the neighbour purposely send their maid over to warn us not to make noise, move furnitures, not to messed up the apartment, not to cook leaving unpleasant smell to other units and throw the rubbish at the designated bin. We thought this was the condo staff. Only found out not. The best part is, we are not in the condo most of the time!
We get the feeling that we are not welcome. But aside from that, everything is fine. Great location. -

The apartment was clean,& well presented. Access was easy. We recommend using the "preferred driver" to meet you at the airport. Unfortunately the condo river boat was out for service so we used the public boat each time we crossed - easily done just a little further to walk on the other side of the park. the view was a continuous panorama of activity - so entertaining and interesting. We ate out at the local restaurants 3 minutes away every night and very cheap rates - no need to cross the river unless you want something special. We never did master the washing machine cycles. The pool was great after a day sightseeing - very clean and diamond, the on the spot agent was very helpful with advice and interpretations. Highly recommend the Orchid apartment.

Stayed in Orchid appt 13th to 20th July. What can I say except it was exactly as described. Very nice 1 bed appt in a decent part of the city. Easy access to everything, taxi's, ferry boat, express boats. Pool is nice, gym is good, people are great. The appt did not need anything, the welcome pack was there on arrival, we saw Diamond once she was very helpful, told us to call if we needed anything but we didn't :) excellent !
Had a really good time in BKK and this appt was a great "base". -

Saskatoon, CanadaThe Riverside Bangkok – Geranium
Left on 06/21/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This is a first class property! After 3 months of traveling on the road, we splurged and booked 1 week at the Geranium Suite and couldn’t be happier. This 26th floors suite boasts amazing day and nighttime views. The suite is equipped with all of the amenities of home, with the exception of spices, etc. The suite was beyond clean and supplied with the fluffiest towels. We loved the full stock of DVD’s provided. We even asked for some more DVD’s and the staff had them brought to us within the hour! The Wi-Fi is strong and is a secured network, which is much appreciated.
The building is equipped with a wonderful pool area, steam room and sauna and gym on the 6th floor. There is ample room in the pool for swimming and there are really nice deck chairs for your enjoyment. There is also a purified water machine on the main floor, close to the car garage, where you can refill your bottle with very inexpensive drinking water (1.5L for 1 Baht)! The ferry service made crossing the river and getting to the BTS Skytrain easy and simple.
Jonathan and his staff were all amazing and provided us with great service. Their excellent communication made booking this property effortless. We also booked the airport transfer through Jonathan’s contact Peter. This was worthwhile for a simplified experience. Our driver was a great ambassador and gave us such a great first impression of Thailand.
Bottom line is you get what you pay for. This was worth every penny and we would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a 5 star experience at a great price. We loved it so much! -

Oxford, UKGreat stay at Riverside apartment
Left on 02/22/2012 for a stay in January 2012
I recently had a great stay at Riverside apartments. I could not fault the location, service, cleanliness and comfort. In addition to all this the recommended limousine taxi service provided by Peter was superb, so much so we continued to use this service throughout our stay to visit other areas of Thailand.
The apartments have their own river boat which runs every half hour across the river and every 15 minutes during peak times. Once across the river you can easily access all main tourist destinations either by boat or the wonderfully cool sky train. This makes cocktails at the Hilton, shopping at MBK and visiting the reclining Buddha all so easy.
In addition to this there are plenty of facilities within easy walking distance from the apartment. You can eat well and very cheap, get a very decent cappuccino, have your hair done, washing laundered and indulge in a massage just around the corner. And if you want to escape the heat the apartments have their own pool which is particularly splendid and somewhere you would be happy to while away the hours.
On a practical level the apartment had everything you could need and was furnished to a very high standard. The air con worked very well which in my opinion is very important given the Bangkok heat. Jonathon and his team were all very friendly and helpful and nothing seemed like too much trouble.

This is a fabulous apartment. The views are breathtaking. Pool and facilities amazing. The situation perfect. I couldn't have found a better place for a weeks stay if I had tried. Close to the action but not engulfed by Bangkok. Loads of restaurants within in two minutes walk if you want to go local and the choice of three five star hotels within walking distance if you had big budgets. A short river ferry crossing and you are by the BTS station the best way to move around Bangkok. I was supposed to have an intensive week working but found myself totally distracted by the fascination of Bangkok and so cheap to move around and eat. Joanthan and Diamond extremely helpful. I am trying ot work in a months stay later in the year it was so good.

We spent a week in the Orchid apartment last april and we are still dreaming about it!
This corner apartment is beautiful. The place is elegantly furnished and the kitchen fully equipped. The rent includes free Internet and the use of the swimming pool. The swimming pool was an unexpected surprise - we did not know we had access to it until we got there. The floor-to-ceiling view is magnificent ... visible even from the soaking tub! The place was worth every single penny. -

I stayed in Rose apartment for 7 days it was great. It was near the river great view. Got boat trip across the river the Saphan Taksin BTS station for free. I really recommend the place its quiet no noisy neighbors actually i had a neighbor across the hall way from me and the most i saw of that person was it's slippers outside. The apartment itself is great, you get free fast internet in the apartment to keep in contact with family and all, the couch is like a bed. Its a great place for the family to enjoy. I have travel a like 6% of the world and i have stayed from Santosa island in singapore to Peermont D'oreale South africa. A place that makes me feel at home surpass any 5 star hotels. I'm really planning to go back again in a couple of months and this place will definitely be the only place on my list of logging.

My wife and I stayed at three different apartments through this owner, and each of them were well-appointed, with excellent space, great views, use-able kitchens and overall perfect comfort. The owner makes good suggestions on a driver in and around Bangkok (you must use Peter!) and is very responsive via email.
Once at the building, the staff is courteous and there is assistance on site, if required. Sombat even made some great restaurant suggestions! It is very easy to get around Bangkok from this spot, as you can take a great stroll to the pier and then catch the elevated train just across the river. We obviously loved staying there, given our first 3 nights turned into two more returns during our time in Thailand! -

BerlinFirst class home away from home in the best location in Bangkok
Left on 07/01/2010 for a stay in June 2010
The Orchid suite offers stunning views of the Chao Phraya River and the skyline as well as stylish furnishings, and the building's beautiful pool, and is safe and secure. This is an ideal "home away from home" if you'd like first-class amenities but rather not put up with intrusive hotel service.
It‘s in a real city neighbourhood away from the usual tourist haunts, with plenty of local eateries to try out and street food to bring home. Across the river, the Tops Supermarket in the basement of the Robinson's Department Store has a huge assortment to try out.
The suite has a vast amount of closet space. The complimentary wifi (wireless internet) worked seamlessly. The air conditioning, fans and light switches are a bit complicated, but you get them sorted out quickly thanks to the thorough documentation in the suite. The suite was extremely clean.
I was unable to find the laundry recommended in the suite, but I found a laundress in Charoen Nakhon soi 21 who perfectly washed and pressed two pairs of trousers for the princely sum of 30 baht. Prices for these kinds of services are dramatically lower away from the tourist venues.
There's no problem being on the "other" side of the river in Thonburi. The owner‘s website provides very good taxi instructions. During the daytime, you can take the free shuttle boat across to Sathorn Central Pier, where you can go up the river in an Express Boat or take the BTS Skytrain.
The Chao Phraya River is Bangkok's heart and soul, the city at its most atmospheric, and in such an advantageous location on the river, most of your needs for tourist sites, dining, entertainment and shopping can be met and surpassed.
Full disclosure: Jonathan Watkins offered me a complimentary 2-day stay in this apartment when it wasn't rented so I would be able evaluate it as a Bangkok Destination Expert. I received no payment or other incentive and I have no personal or business relationship with Mr. Watkins and his associates.

My family and I had planned to stay at the Riverside in May 2010. Jonathan was very prompt in responding to our emails before we left and even when we were traveling within Thailand. Since the worst of the political issues occurred while we were there, we decided to bypass Bangkok. Jonathan was very understanding in our cancellation and even gave us 50% of our deposit back due to the circumstances. I am very grateful that he was so willing to work with us during an unfortunate time in Thailand and hope that we will be able to stay at the Riverside when we return.

It is hard to put into words just how wonderful this apartment is-- but I'll give it a try! This past visit was my third one, and I truly feel at home when I visit Baan Sathorn. To start with, the apartment is immaculate and the furnishings and facilities are beyond compare. Whether taking in the spectacular view of Bangkok from the bathtub at night, or swimming in the infinity pool by day, guests have access to both city convenience and resort-style relaxation. The building is within easy walking distance of several nice restaurants and bars, and the free-of-charge building boat crosses over to the sky train station regularly throughout the day. Friendly on-site staff can assist you with any questions or concerns you may have, and they provide invaluable care and assistance during your stay. Truly, you could not find a more beautiful, relaxing and interesting place to holiday, and I am proof positive that you'll keep returning for more!

Thank you so much for letting us stay we had a
wonderful time! Sombat recommended lots of places
to go including a lovely seafood restaurant
"Somboon" which was very tasty. Kho San road was
good for some nightlife and perfect for us as we
are backpackers. We also liked shopping at the Siam
centre, Siam Paragon but we found the MBK centre
better for cheaper clothes and deals and we loved
bargaining to get lower prices! The Grand Palace
etc was really impressive but left us very hot
and sweaty however the gorgeous pool was great to
relax and cool down after a long day of sight
seeing.
Overall we had a wonderful stay, Bangkok is a crazy

I was in Bangkok for 5 nights at the end of June beginning of July. The apartment itself was absolutely gorgeous with amazing views of the city as it's located on the 23rd floor and the location was perfect - close to all transportation - skytrain and numerous river ferries (which take you to all of the attractions, temples etc). The apartment is definitely located in a quieter area yet was so easy to get to anywhere in Bangkok. If you'd like a more relaxing vacation away from the hustle that Bangkok can be, I'd definitely recommend it.
