The Rocky Roost is a three bedroom/three bath (upstairs loft includes twin bed and trundle) hand-hewn log cabin located in The Lakes Resort at Seven Devils, featuring a true southern SLEEPING PORCH which is open mid-May through mid-November! Fall asleep to the sounds of the bullfrogs and crickets and wake up to sunrise over the Blue Ridge Mountains!

Beautiful views of Devils Lake and surrounding mountains. The cabin sleeps 2-12 (sleeps 14 mid-May through mid-November when the sleeping porch is open) and also includes a pack-and-play for the smallest guests! An ideal location for a family gathering, or a get-away from life in the big cit...y! Swing on the vine twig swing on the porch or hop in the hot tub to enjoy the breath-taking beauty of the North Carolina mountains!

This cabin has been beautifully transformed into a real roost! Attention to detail can be found in each room and eclectic accessories will set the tone for your vacation away from it all. Each bedroom has its own private bath and each is located on a separate floor. There are queen beds in each bedroom, an additional twin bed with trundle in the loft bedroom, a sleep sofa on the main-floor living room, a sleep sofa on the lower floor and the Sleeping Porch, which includes a full bed. We have wireless internet access for those who have to keep in touch with the office!

Entertainment abounds with a state-of-the-art slate pool table, Wii, lots of board games! Take advantage of the fire pit and two ponds on site - perfect for fishing!

Enjoy all that the mountains have to offer...We are 15-30 minutes from all the major ski resorts - Sugar, Beech, Appalachian and less than a mile from Hawksnest - which features the longest tubing runs in the southeast and a huge zipline, 15 minutes to downtown Banner Elk and Boone and 20 minutes to Blowing Rock! There's so much to do up here! Take a hike - our kids LOVE to do that - go to nearby Jacob's Ladder which is a local hiking favorite and see the waterfalls up close! Or, take a short drive to the Elk Falls, just across the Tennessee line and get a look at a breathtaking waterfall and enjoy the swimming hole! We are close to Wildcat Lake, where you can rent canoes, fish and swim - or enjoy a picnic lunch, volleyball and a great playground!

Mountain biking is HUGE up here! There are some great trails on the Lee's McRae campus and some really daring ones on Beech Mountain - something for everyone! And, if you are feeling it - you can hike the Profile Trail on Grandfather - you won't be sorry you did! And, while you are here you MUST visit the Mile High Swinging Bridge and natural animal habitats at Grandfather too - this beautiful mountain was left in a trust to the state of North Carolina by Hugh Morton, and we are so blessed to have it! You can also ride the Blue Ridge Parkway and see the Linville Viaduct - Mr. Morton would not let North Carolina disturb his mountain by building a road, so they had to build the road around his mountain - and the ride is spectacular!

North Carolina's High Country is a favorite destination of families, couples and adventure-seekers. North Carolina has the highest mountains east of the Rockies and caters to adventurers of all abilities. While you are here, visit some of our favorite spots - Bald Guy Brew on the 105 Bypass in Boone for some AWESOME coffee, Stick Boy Bread Company on Hardin Street (across from ASU) in Boone for some serious sweet stuff, or Peppers Restaurant which has some great homemade soups and sandwiches...call us - we would love to introduce you to the High Country!

What a warm and welcoming place to relax and enjoy the company of friends! From the fireplace to the beautiful, eclectic and fun decorating, I cannot think of a better way to spend a March weekend.
