Booking
I organised our week's holiday to Bansko, Bulgaria through Piste & Peakes back in July 2012. I was organising it as a present for my boyfriend's 30th as a surprise. Victoria emailed me back with all the info and pretty much bent over backwards to help, even arranging for a dryer cider to be sourced as myself and my other half are big cider fans!!! The correspondence throughout the run up to the holiday was exceptional, some of the best customer service I have ever had.
Getting there...
After I had finally given my boyfriend the trip in October, we were on our way the week before Christmas. We were collected from the airport by Jeanette & Richard, Victoria's parents. It was lovely to know its a family run business and they gave us a guided tour on the 2 hour transfer. Pointing out lots of interesting spots and giving us some info on the country. They made a great first impression on where and who we would be staying with. Thanks!!!
The Chalet
On arrival at Chalet Diana we were instantly impressed. Slightly out of the main centre, in a residential neighbourhood it gave the trip a more authentic experience!
We were greeted by Victoria and our chalet hosts Russ and Sophia, and instant warmed to them all. The cake on arrival was also very much appreciated!
Our room was very spacious, comfy beds, with ample storage. We had a lovely balcony with a beautiful view! The bathroom was lovely too.
The sauna was in daily use! We loved it. It was great to have at the end of a long day boarding. We did try out the hot tub one night which was fun but we preferred the sauna.
A very spacious lounge downstairs is very comfy and perfect for relaxing after a long day and putting on a movie.
Food glorious food!
Russ and Sophia cooked delicious meals every night! Bulgarian night was awesome and any form of potatoes Russ made were exceptional. From good hearty dishes to local cuisine they paid a lot of attention to get it all right. The afternoon tea & cake was also fabulous.
The actual snowboarding!
The mountain in Bansko had runs for all abilities! We were very lucky that so early in the season that the snow was so heavy. The lifts were quiet so there was no queuing! The only slight downside is that the gondola takes about 30 minutes to get to the top.
I had lessons, starting on the first morning. My instructor Jordan spoke great English and taught with a great and relaxed style. After 3 x 2 hour lessons I was on blue runs and linking turns. Victoria arranged them for me through Ski Mania where the kit is from. Incidentally the kit hire from Ski Mania is fantastic. George at the shop was really friendly and happy to help!
Food & Drink prices
On Russ & Sophia's one night off we went on Victoria's recommendation of a small restaurant, like a local inn, called Dedo Penne. We wanted to try lots of the local cuisine and so ordered 3 starters, 4 mains with 4 beers and 2 rakias. The bill came to 80 lev! That's only £20 each, bargain.
The food & drink on the piste were cheap in comparison with other ski resorts. A draught beer is about £3.50, with coffee/tea/hot chocolate being about the same. If you ask Victoria nicely she can recommend a little bar off piste about halfway down that the instructors use a lot and a beer in there is only 3 lev (£1.50). We had lunch and beers for 2 of us for £10!
Overall
We had the best holiday. The organisation and smooth running of Piste & Peakes has to be commended. The friendly and helpful attitude of the team made the holiday even better.
I would highly recommend Chalet Diana and Piste & Peakes to anyone looking for a great ski or snowboarding holiday, with the bonus of it being really reasonably priced!
A massive thanks to Victoria, Russ, Sophia, Richard and Jeanette for making our holiday so fantastic! Looking forward to booking our next holiday with Piste & Peakes soon! -

Left on 01/07/2013 for a stay in December 2012
I stayed at Diana's sister chalet, Juniper, and it was simply fantastic. The extent Richard and Jeanette went to to make our stay comfortable and relaxing was outstanding. The cooked dinners every night were amazing, the rooms were great and the communal area had a real rustic charm that made it a delight to come back and relax in after a day of skiing. On top of all that it was affordable! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing ski holiday. If I had to say one bad thing it would be that the wifi wasn't working at the time of our stay but I understand that was temporary and should now be fixed. Otherwise I could not speak more highly of this place. A+++

We had a great Summer vacation in Bansko at Chalet Diana. Big comfy rooms with views of the mountains.
The food was delicious and we were even treated to a mountain barbeque with some of the best BBQ ribs I have ever had.
We tried hiking and biking in the mountains in amazing scenery and had a couple of relaxing days by the pool.
We were surprised how much there was on offer in Bansko during the Summer and we didn't have time to do everything so I guess that means we will have to come abck! -

Left on 04/13/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We were constantly amazed by the lengths to which our extraordinarily hospitable hosts, Richard and Jeanette went to make us feel so welcome and relaxed. Their attention to detail and proactiveness during our stay in Bansko, made it one of our most memorable holidays - for all the right reasons. For example, our six-year-old Jasper has severe allergies to nuts and dairy produce. Richard and Jeanette saw this as a challenge and intuitively amended their menu to produce gourmet food that we could enjoy together as a family - during our stay Jasper earned the nickname 'The Little Gourmet'. A huge thank you to Piste & Peaks for a spectacular holiday - we can't wait for our return visit, Lawrence, Sue and Jasper.

Great chalet, fantastic and easygoing hosts, and the food was incredible!! Exceeded all expectations. The rooms were lovely, location was great, free transfers always useful and the snow was the best I've skied in. I can see how this chalet would be perfect for families, but it was also perfect for a drunken group of 24 who stayed up every night making a mess... Thanks to victoria, debs and sian for making our trip such a memorable one.

We went to Chalet Diana as a group of 24 and we really couldn't fault anything about it. The food is amazing, didn't expect it to be so good, service was outstanding and the staff were so accommodating, organising lessons for people, driving us to the gondola, guiding us on the mountain and cleaning up after our all night parties! Big thanks to Victoria, Richard, Jeanette, Sian and Debs for making our holiday so awesome.

Food- was superb! coming in from a hard day ski-ing is great knowing you are going to get quality home cooked grub!
Service- the best! nothing was too small or to little felt very relaxed and they felt more like extended friends then workers.
Chalet- Lovely spacious rooms with the added bonus of things like hot tubs, sauna, lounge with a wii etc.
This is a home from home! if your looking for a relaxed comfortable warm environment, this is it! If i had to give a negative it would be the location simply because it wasnt closer to the centre of Bansko and would have to get lifts or walk (which in ski atire can be very tiresome) however walking only took about 15mins so not too bad!
Will I stay again? Most deifnately!!! -

My partner and I stayed at Chalet Diana for a week in March and to be fair Richard and Jeanette made it for us.
They guided us through everything we need to know about the local area even skiing with us on the first day so we could get our bearings.
Their food is delicious - I managed to put on at least half a stone and every mouthful was worth it!
The chalet is super and the sauna hot at the end of a long day skiing.
This place is better than value for money, it's a holiday to remember and for half the price of france or austria.
Will definately come again. -

London, United KingdomChalet Diana - Great Hosts, Great Holiday!
Left on 03/13/2011 for a stay in March 2011
From the first moment we arrived in Bansko, Jeanette and Richard were the perfect hosts. Despite our awkward arrival time, Richard had stayed up and provided us with a meal when we got there which was lovely and just the start of things to come.
The Chalet itself is very spacious, well decorated and feels very homely too. Our room was very large and clean and the bathroom was great including hot powerful showers at the end of the day. The Chalet is based about 15 minutes walk from the gondola however Jeanette and Richard run transfers in the morning when you need them. Whilst we wouldn't recommend the uphill walk to the gondola in the morning it is very easy to walk back (if you have missed the transfer bus due to a few extra apres ski drinks!) as it is all downhill to the Chalet.
Our 4 course dinners each night were fantastic, Richard and Jeanette really put on a good spread, we couldn't thank them enough for their efforts! (And as for the afternoon tea and cakes, the cakes were amazing and far too moreish - kindly Jeanette gave us some extra pieces to take with us on our return journey, needless to say, they didn't last long!)
Not only did Jeanette and Richard go to great lengths with the food/transfer arrangements etc... but also they are a really lovely, affable couple who we really enjoyed getting to know. It was a shame to leave in the end but we will certainly look to return in the future!
One final thing I should say is that Victoria is very helpful when it came to arranging our trip and when we had questions about transfers, ski hire etc... so a big thanks to her also!
Anyway to sum up we would definitely recommend Chalet Diana to anyone thinking of heading to Bansko for a holiday!

We were looked after so well from start to finish on this holiday. Everything was organised ahead of tiem so that when we arrived in Bansko there was no stress and no worry. From a great transfer to the chalet to fantastic hospitality and fabulous food we had a great time. The ski conditions were not great the week that we were there, but Richard & Jeanette showed us all the best secret spots and we had a great time.
The ski school that was recommended to us was brilliant - Ski Mania - and our beginners got going straightaway.

Marty and victoria sadly don't run this one anymore they are in italy in there new chalet. Dave ex fish and chip shop owner and Sue his wife run it as of December 18th 2010. A nice enough retired couple but sticklers for timings rules etc, sometimes making you feel like you were at school . Its is no longer a gourmet chalet as advertised on the website. The food was Ok but very cheaply bought and reused from day to day in disguised dishes. Breakfasts were very boring no yogurt ,nice bread or fruit, just cheap white bread from the freezer and under cooked eggs occasionally. Wine with the meals was from a low budget Large plastic container then disguised in carafes . Don't look at the pictures on the site as you will be very disappointed no fresh fish or crapes . They did do nice cakes but gourmet it was not !!! They gave everybody a gift of socks for Christmas which was a nice gesture. We felt that the budget left for Sue and Dave was poor and thats why we were not given the best produce and also the expectation of the voted by the times gourmet chalet ( this is not true and should be taken off the site ). The lounge is to small for 10 people but comfy if you get a seat. Beds were very comfy. Shower facilities very odd but manageable .
Not a bad place but not what was advertised at all.
Bansko itself is not that cheep lift pass £150 and food and drink in the area uk or more prices. Snow poor only the slopes open all weekResponse from Richard, Jeanette, Marty & Victoria - 01/05/2011

I'm very sorry to hear that you felt this way about your holiday with us in Chalet Rozov.
I will be back in Bansko next week and I will be speaking to our chalet hosts about your holiday, but in the meantime I would like to clear up a few misunderstandings.
We have fresh bread delivered to the chalets every morning from a local bakery except for Christmas Day and New Years Day when the bakeries are closed. There is always fresh fruit available in the chalet - our hosts are always happy to provide you with more if you ask. Breakfasts have a hot option of eggs and/or porridge each morning apart from the hosts' day off. If you prefer your eggs to be cooked in a particular way, just ask and your hosts will be obliging.
Our wine is locally made and completely organic - we selected the grapes ourselves and I can assure you that they are of the highest quality, each evening we decant the wine straight from the barrel to be served with the evening meal. However, if you prefer to drink a branded product we do have a good selection available.
We buy fresh meat and veg from the local butchers and veg market on a daily basis to ensure that we can choose the best produce. The cuts of meat and choice of vegetables are not always the same as those in the UK but they are the freshest and highest quality available locally.
In the mountains, it is difficult to source fresh fish but we do offer trips for ice-fishing where our guests can catch trout and bring them to the chalet to be prepared for their evening meal. In a mixed group, if there are individuals that do not like fish, we change the menu accordingly.
Dave, the chef in Chalet Rozov is professionally trained and has been working as a chef all his life. He has owned a fish and chip shop but has also worked in several exclusive restaurants and most recently had his own business, catering for directors' dining rooms.
Please be assured that we will be taking this further and speaking to our chalet hosts. We do our best for our solo skiers but if you feel like your individual needs were not met please feel free to contact me directly on: office@pisteandpeaks.com
Warm Regards,
Victoria -

We stayed in chalet Diana, a most clean and spacious place. The food was prepared by Marty and his team and was plentiful and of far better quality than we have come to expect of skiing chalets.
The chalet is situated on the edge of town and has panoramic views of the the valley and mountains from the extensive balconies.
The shuttle service to the hire shop and lifts was very organised and relaxed and at times to suit us, and we were show round the attractive old town where we were introduced to to some of the locals, many of whom spoke good english and proved to be very entertaining.

Chalet Rozov lies on the outskirts of Bansko, giving wonderful views from the balcony of the snow covered mountains and the surrounding countryside.
The location provided peace and quiet yet all the amenities were within a five minute walk.
Greeted with a cheerful reception and a drink on arrival, we were shown to our upper floor room. It was warm and spacious, and the en-suite made it feel like home.
Evening meals were prepared by the hosts, Victoria and Marty, who delighted in presenting the most delicious, mouth watering dishes I have ever had the pleasure of eating in a ski resort. Each meal was a gastronomic delight, with ample local wine quaranteeing a good nights sleep!
Throughout the week, we were pampered by Victoria, who made sure we had a most comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Facilities at Chalet Rozov included a sauna, which after a days skiing is the most relaxing way to prevent your muscles from seizing up!
In my opinion, the ambiance and friendly nature of Victoria and Marty at Chalet Rozov provided a most memorable holiday and excellent value for money.
I wish them both good luck with their business venture, in the knowledge that all prospective guests will also have an amazing gourmet experience at Chalet Rozov -

The service that we had when we stayed at Chalet Rozov was amazing and the food was exceptional - I would expect this sort of food in a top London restaurant so a chalet in Bulgaria was a bit of a surprise! My friend is vegan so she was a bit concerned before we left but I have to say that at times I was quite jealous of some of the food that was specially prepared for her!
The chalet is lovely and cosy and we din't want to leave - there was a bit of skivving off skiing so that we could spend the day in the hot tub!
This was our first visit to Bulgaria and we so so surprised at how fantastic it was. You could see on the way from the airport that the country still has some very poor areas but Bansko is very nice and the old town was lovely. The people were friendly and we managed to learn about 2 words of Bulghaian which seemed to go down quite well.
The only downside was that as we were booking our flights the price was going up so although some of us got cheapies, by the time we had all booked sopme of them were a bit pricey, so I guess you should book your flights early!
All in all, a huge Thanks to victoria & Marty and the guys for making our holiday such good fun (especially the fancy dress bar crawl). -

We were a group of 8 and 2 babies at the chalet and were very happy with it. The chalet itself was comfortable, the rooms a decent size and the hosts and helpers very helpful and friendly. This includes the owners Anna and her husband who were very helpful with helping with the babies!! Victoria and Marty made sure that we had everything we needed and helped when advice was needed for certain things. The chalet was in a good location and their transfer service worked well. Victorias parents were great at making sure we were kept well fed and watered!! A great holiday all round!

I stayed at Chalet Rozov in Feb 2010. The Chalet is well appointed with a dining area which provides a welcoming rustic feeling. The food is excellent with a menu you will not be disappointed with and you certainly will not go hungry. The dining room has an excellent open fire which burns all night long and adds to a really good atmosphere. The chalet has a lounge with lots of extra entertainment and although situated 10-15 minute walk from the main lifts a few shuttle bus runs are put on morning and afternoon to take you door to door. I would definately go again.

I would highly reccommend staying with Marty and Victoria if you are visiting Bansko. From the hugely impressive food, to the warm and friendly atmosphere your welcomed in to, we enjoyed every day of our stay.
All the bedrooms are a good size and they know all the best local bars and restraunts. Plus the lift's to and from the chair lifts are a welcome plus!
The only negative is that the hot tube in the back garden isn't big enough to fit more than 3 people in and lacks a little on the heat and bubbles - however a complaint about the hot tube is hardly vital!

Left on 03/16/2010 for a stay in March 2010
We stayed in chalet Diana, the sister chalet of Rozov and just down the road, in early March 2010. Our stay was great, with breakfast, afternoon tea and an evening meal provided (with two nights uncatered on which we ate out in the town). The rooms were comfortable and clean, the food was great, and all transfers to and from the ski lifts in the morning were provided. Though the resort isn't big by European standards, there was definitely enough in Bansko to keep us entertained for the week, and the prices were really good for a ski resort (£2 a beer and £5 for a meal up the mountain). We had several good nights out in the town, and also visited a hot springs spa in a neighbouring town (less than £10 per person for a sauna, hammam and naturally heated swimming pool). I would highly recommend Bansko, and the Christopher Chalets (Diana and Rozov) for a luxury ski holiday on a low budget!
