Yorkshire, UKFabulous Property
Left on 05/17/2013 for a stay in May 2013
This was one of our first stops on our first ever visit to New England from the UK and we wish we could have stayed longer. Fabulous spacious property with wonderful views and so exciting for our daughter to see deer in the woods at the back of the house. Very clean and excellent facilities throughout. Great location for easy access to acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, lots to see and do within easy reach. Bob and Marcia were lovely and supportive hosts and made us feel very welcome indeed. If we get the opportunity to return to New England this will be one of the first places we head for. Thank you.

Left on 12/03/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Kebo View exceeded our expectations! It's very spacious, comfortable, well appointed, and it has everything you need or want. The location is perfect, giving you the option to enjoy the views and solitude, visit beautiful acadia National Park, play golf at Kebo GC, or travel 5 blocks down the road to the center of Bar Harbor and all it has to offer. Bob and Marcia are very gracious hosts, and we would rent this property again if we planned to revisit the area. We thank them for their hospitality and kindness during our stay. We had a wonderful time and brought home some great memories!

Atlanta, GAWe had a really nice quiet stay here.
Left on 11/08/2012 for a stay in October 2012
The owner is very accommodating and made the booking process very easy. I was a first time renter and felt very well taken care of. We came in late so we didn't end up meeting the owner until the third day of our stay but he was down the street if we needed anything.
The home is totally a nature lover's dream. The view's of acadia and the surrounding area are breathtaking. You can see Cadillac Mountain to the Southwest, the Kebo Valley Golf Club hills and meadows to the West and the town of Bar Harbor below you to the North with a little ocean peeking out just past the town. The panoramic windows and elevated floor plan make you feel like you are in a tree house above it all. Everything was taken care of within the home and the owners provide fresh linens and towels, laundry supplies and extra down comforters in case it gets chilly at night.
The location was great for us because we were a short walk from the town which has some really great dining and a lot of unique shopping. We had a fantastic meal a Galyn's and there are ample casual options too. Most evenings we spent walking around the town and harbor area and stopping in at the bars.
Acadia National Park was the huge draw for us though and I wish that we had been able to spend more time there. I think we could've been there another month and still would've left wanting more. It's only a five minute walk from the front door to the park but you can do some driving through the park as well.
You are also about a forty minute drive to Bangor which was a great way to spend a day as well. We took a Stephen King tour (www.sk-tours.com) which was informative.
I most liked to coziness of the house. Even with a large open floor plan it still feels warm plus all the windows act like a natural heater during the daylight hours so no cold mornings unless you're a very early riser.
We will definitely be back to Bar Harbor some day and I hope that this home is available whenever that day comes.

New JerseyGreat Fall Getaway
Left on 09/29/2012 for a stay in September 2012
My husband, sister, brother and I rented this home for a fall getaway in September 2012, and found it to be exactly as described in its listing - and then some. The views were fabulous, the accommodations comfortable and inviting, and the locale close to the center of Bar Harbor. After a long day exploring acadia or the town or the coastline, it was delightful to come "home" to Kebo 1. Owner Bob Rechholtz was friendly - right down to welcoming us with a blueberry pie! - and helpful, and eager to hear any suggestions we had to make this an even better place to stay. We couldn't come up with a one!

AtlantaTruth Be Told
Left on 08/08/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This house does have a great view of the surrounding area. It is large, comfortable and clean.
The kitchen and breakfast area are open and comfortable. There are only enough dishes for 6. We had friends over for meals (they were staying in a local hotel) and had to buy paper plates and do dishes all the time.
I haven't figured out why the other reviews haven't mentioned this important aspect of the location of the house. On the drive up the road, first you go by the water treatment center. One day during the week the air stunk of sulphur like rotten eggs. On the other side of the road is the public works area. There is a huge pile of sand and city yard buildings. Keep driving up to the house and you go thru the Strawberry Hill dump and transfer center! The area around the dump smells like garbage. The transfer station has large trucks go in and out of it and the sound of compressing garbage trucks in the morning. The description says you can walk to town which you can, although it's a long walk and uphill back, but the smell of the dump is not good to pass by. I want to emphasize though that you can not smell the dump up at the house.
All in all I would not stay here again at the price of $2400/wk and the fact that we had to walk or bike by the dump multiple times a day. If you were driving everywhere, the dump area would probably not be a issue.Response from Robert Rechholtz - 08/29/2012
Owner
You stated in your opening sentences, “The house does have a great view of the surrounding area. It is large, comfortable and clean. The Kitchen and breakfast area are open and comfortable”, but then your review turns and takes on a negative tone. We suspect the reason behind your dissatisfaction is due primarily because of our objection of housing another family whom were not under contract with us. We feel you abused and took advantage of the situation; after repeatedly seeing other vehicles up the driveway, and at times your visitors were using the home while you were not there! (hence the “lack” of dinnerware and needing to buy paper plates!). Our signed rental agreement with you states one family of 5. As conscientious property owners/renters, we felt something needed to be said and addressed with you.
Yes, the town facilities are located in a residential area; however not boarding, not visible, nor are smells noticeable from the house. In the past 5 years of our rental history, we have been booked solid from May to November with wonderful, happy families and guests renting our home; some even repeats! It is important to us that we try our very best to make our visitors feel welcome and comfortable.

HoustonA Great place for peace and rest!
Left on 11/01/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We visited Bar Harbor Maine during October for fall foliage season. First I would like to compliment the management of the house - the owner Bob was very nice and helpful. Even before the trip, he sent us Bar Harbor pamphlets when we booked to plan our stay. When we arrived Bob was so helpful in suggestions and answering questions about the area. He then left us for rest and privacy through the week but was readily available if we needed something. The Kebo House is located up on a hill for view of the acadia mountains, and very private with surrounding trees. It is very close to Main street but away from the bustle. It was kept very clean and comfortable. The reversed living with living room and kitchen upstairs allowed us to have a wonderful view of the mountains. Kitchen was very nice and spacious to cook lots of lobsters! The master bed was comfy and the master bath has a two-person tub. My family always rents a house for our vacations, and all in all, this was a very restful stay in Maine! I highly recommend staying at this Kebo House!

Brentwood, Tennesseegreat place to stay in Bar Harbor
Left on 10/07/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We just got back from our trip to Maine. the house was terrific. there was enough room so that our teenage boys could have some space to themselves and so that we could all cook and eat together. the rooms were comfortable and the kitchen had enough equipment so that we could cook lobster in often. the house is located on a dead end backing up to the golf course. it is located just outside of the touristy area of bar harbor, but we were all by ourselves in the woods--very convenient without having to be in the tourist crowds. Bob was very helpful. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting a vacation on Mt. Desert Island. We did rock climbing one day and whale watching another day. we saw 1 humpback, 3 razorfin (?) and 1 minky(?) whale along with many dolphins, seals and sea birds. I had thought that the whale watching would be a deep sea snipe hunt, but it was really terrific. My son wanted to go fishing, but we discovered that there really isn't any good fishing on the island, and that the deep sea fishing is no good. I wish I had done my fishing research before we tried it. We might have gone inland for that.

Woodstock, GAA Beautiful Home with a Great View.
Left on 10/03/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We just returned from our stay at Kebo View. We found the home just as described. The views from the top floor were beautiful. The home was very clean and comfortable. This is a great home if you plan on cooking and eating in. The kitchen is large and well equipped.
Pros: Clean, great views, comfortable, close to town, washer and dryer, lots of room.
Cons: Only two. The top floor can get very warm on sunny days. Lots of stairs.
I would not hesitate to return to Kebo View. Bob is a wonderful host and the views are awesome.
