SydneyFirst visit to Barcelona
Left on 05/09/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We were very fortunate on our first trip to Barcelona to find the Carders apartment. It is centrally located, very clean and homely. Close to a friendly bicycle rental shop (Budget) which allowed us to explore even more of Barcelona that we had originally planned. Everything we wanted was within easy reach and when we returned to the apartment we felt like coming home. Great place!

Left on 05/07/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Habitat apartment is a very good and efficient company. We did not have any problem with the house or any other thing. They are organised and precise. They give to the tourists a folder with all the things to know about the apartment, suggestions on the places nearby and restaurants close to the ap. Check out very easy.
The apartment in Carders is not luxurious but it has everything a family may need.
Also very quiet.
The location is good if you like staying in a walking street: no cars! Many bars and restaurants close to it. -

UkGreat apartment in a good location
Left on 04/23/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Light, airy and comfortable, main bedroom with ensuite is internal which means it doesn't get much natural light, however this worked really well for us as it meant our toddler stayed asleep until 9am which was great! Second bedroom is external and really bright so something to suit both preferences.
Well located, 5-10 minute Walk from las ramblas and 5-10 minutes in the opposite direction to the port. There is a lovely little square outside which has 3 or 4 nice little cafe bars to enjoy the evening sun.
Habitat apartments are a great company to book with the customer service is great, there were close to 40 guests as part of our party and all were happy with the service and would book again. -

Left on 04/03/2013 for a stay in March 2013
After a last minute change to our rental apartment we were pleasantly surprised to find that the replacement was in an excellent part of the Gothic area and adjacent to a small plaza with bars, etc.
The apartment was clean and modern. The only issue is that I could not link up to the wifi with my ipad because I didnt know that I would require a link up cable!
As I have said, the location was very good - close to La Rambla and a 15 minute walk to the port and beach. Lots of bars and eateries - we particularly enjoyed El Born cafe (wifi and lovely chocolate and churros!).
I loved the many quite back streets and the breathtaking architecture in Barcelona. Also, we spent 2 great days on rental bikes and saw a lot of the city that way.
In summing up, our stay was very nice and our location was a bonus. -

Los Angeles, CAGreat place with only a few annoyances
Left on 01/09/2013 for a stay in January 2013
The location is excellent, except for the fact that taxis cannot drive on the street, so it is impossible to be dropped off at the apartment. You must drag your luggage through some cobblestone streets, which are beautiful, but this should be made clear to all guests before booking the apartment. Once inside, the building is clean and modern. Beautiful lobby area with a tall atrium ceiling. The apartment is super clean and modern. I loved the big window in the dining area which opens out to a long balcony.
I really enjoyed my stay at this apartment, except for a few things. The beds were terribly uncomfortable. Super hard and firm, with no padding at all. It was just like sleeping on a wooden floor. The pillows were flat and not comfortable either. the towels seemed old and worn. If they would upgrade the bedding and bath towels to that of a 3-star hotel, it would have been far superior, and I would definitely have paid more for better comfort. After a long day of exploring the city, a nice bed is imperative. I did not have one good night's sleep for an entire week in Barcelona.
The second issue was with the wi-fi internet. It worked, but it was extremely slow. Slower than dial-up. When I ran a speedtest on the connection, it was only a 30kbps downstream. Loading basic websites would take several minutes. I was working while in Barcelona, and this severely impacted my productivity. I could not use Skype, so I had to make international phone calls via my cell phone, which cost me an additional $600. When I asked the management company for a credit, they told me that they could not offer any credit, since I did not tell them about the problem until the second half of my stay. Very disappointing.Response from Habitat Apartments - 01/22/2013

We stayed here with our family of 5 in Nov. 2012. The location can't be beat. It is convenient to everything and relatively quiet. The furnishings are basic but very clean and well kept. We could not get the Wifi to work, which was frustrating. The showers leave something to be desired but overall, a very nice apartment. The restaurants in the plaza below the apartment were quite good.

Ordinarily we would not have been able to afford this appartment but as it was reduced we snapped it up. It was worth every penny. Fantastic location in Born area - far better than La Rambla in our opinion. Pedestrian area, square outside, live music, character, beautifully firnished. Would highly recommend it and would love to return!

Handy for everything and above a Placa with 3 or 4 bars and local shops, everything you need is at hand.
Good sized apartment with good facilities.
Difficult to find as the entrance is around the corner from the Steet address. We called the office to say we were struggling to find it and they told us there was someone there to meet us. Unfortunatly the member of staff waited in the apartment instead of waiting outside to meet us. But other than that everything was very good overall. -

I stayed here for 3 nights and it was perfect for my family of 4. It was very central to everywhere I wanted to be and right in the heart of my favourite area, El Born. There is a little piazza at the front and alsur Cafe is a great place to eat. Also other quaint little cafes and small restaurants in the area. It's about a 15 minute walk to La Rambla and also about a 5 minute walk to the Picasso Museum. There are little supermarkets, a bank and other convenient stores if you need to grab something, so if you're a young family, this is perfect for you.

On our arrival day the cleaning was not done so we had to move for 2 hrs to let the people to do the cleaning. After we saw water coming from the ceiling in the bathroom and we try to reach the administration of Carders apartment for advice. The water came also in in the hall so we try again to phone the administration and the locator of the apartment on the upper lever. We had a lot of difficulties to use the exterior phone, we lost around 10 Euros without reaching somebody. We considered having lost our Sunday. We would have liked to have a phone in the apartment for local use only.
"more towels would have been appropriated in our case" and also the shower in the master bedroom was not working but it has been repaired by the men who came to see the damage with the water".
Having said that, we liked the home, a wonderful area and we loved Barcelone. -

I stayed in Carders apartment with my daughter. The apartment was magnificent - exactly as described and very clean. It was located in a great spot which was very safe and only 2 minutes walk to the nearest Metro. The apartment is on the first floor and had great security. Great alleyways, shops and only 10 minute walk to Las Ramblas. Barcelona was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the city and it was always great to get back 'home'. The only thing it didn't have was some handsoap in the bathrooms which would have been handy.

Staying at careers apartments was great. The service and help on arrival was really useful. The apartment is in a fabulous location within easy walking distance to la rambla, the harbor, hop on hop off bus, taxis and lovely restaurants just downstairs.
It was really good having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with teenage kids and was nice for everyone to have some space as the apartment is very spacious- especially after some of the smaller places we had stayed in throughout Europe! Barcelona is an amazing city, lovely people, food, sangrias! We would definitely recommend staying at eh careers apartments in Barcelona -our favorite city in europe! -

The apartment is in an excellent location -- a really nice neighborhood and close to many sites of interests.
The metro is less than 5 minutes walk. As noted by others, the apartment is smaller than appears in the pictures, but nevertheless quite comfortable. It's in good condition, though some wear and tear is evident. Overall, it's excellent for a family (though if you are 5, you'll need to use the sofa bed) and contains all the needed equipment. Staff were friendly and our experience was very positive. -

FrankfurtGreat apartment, good location, area a little on the dodgy side.
Left on 07/07/2011 for a stay in June 2011
The apartment is great. We were four adults and the apartment was a perfect size and quite comfortable. The air conditioning worked great and the apartment was reasonably well apointed. The apartment is located right on a small square that has three quite decent tapas-style bar/restaurants. Several small grocery stores are within 100m of the place.
Service from Habitat was also very good. They met us at the apartment at the agreed time and were flexible when we had to arrange a later meet-up at the last minute. Also, they were quick to send someone to fix the TV/Satellite set-up, which wasn't working the first day.
The only qualm I have with the apartment is the immediate area in which it is situated. The Born is quite a neat little area full of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops, but this apartment is situated in a more "dodgy" part of the Born. To be honest, I didn't feel that safe walking the streets to the apartment at night as there were groups of men just hanging around under every second street lamp. Case in point, we were robbed (bag grabbed from the back seat of my just-parked car, with me still in the driver's seat!) less than 100m from the front door of the apartment.
If you are ok with a more edgy location, then this apartment has everything you need. But if you want something with more "peace of mind", I would look elsewhere (e.g. Exiample). -

We were met promptly by Jennifer who explained everything we needed to know about the apt. Shopping and eating in the area was convenient, Only problem was the washer/dryer. Dryer never really dried the clothes, but we just used the drying rack. Before dinner one night, we noticed a small leak into one of the bathrooms. We called Jennifer and by the time we returned, the handyman had been there and taken care of it. My husband I rented this with another couple and having two bathrooms was a main reason for us to select this apt. We're glad we did. The kitchen was well equipped, though having at least salt and pepper provided would have been nice. We felt the apt. was as offered on the web site and for the price was an excellent value. It truly was a nice place to return after a day of touring Barcelona.

Location in El Born area of Barcelona = incredible, very close, walking distance to many places you'll want to visit. Just below apt is very good tapas restaurant, and 2-3 other restaurants with outdoor tables on plaza next to the bldg; many fruit/veggie stores, little supermkts, little bakery, cheese store, etc on same block, as is big market.
Apt itself is pleasant, nice balcony overlooking pedestrian street, good appliances, clean, not exciting otherwise, but you aren't going to spend that much time in it, altho it is comfortable for eating, reading etc.
Elevator in bldg, no need to use any stairs, but bathrms not really handicap accessible. -

I selected Habitat based on the good reviews on Tripadvisor and was also able to contact travelers who had actually stayed here from their posted reviews. Thru these messages I was also able to get more details and more information. The interior pics are pretty accurate, furnished modern minimalist like Ikea. I traveled with my wife and two young daughters so safety was a major concern even though we wanted to stay in the old Born section. Friends also told me the area near Las Ramblas or Via Laitana could be quite noisy so we wanted to a bit away from those streets. The bathrooms are really nice as in the pictures. I tend to pick units with washer and dryer, it's handy for us and enables less clothes to pack, but I also find that the units with washer and dryer are more upscale. The unit is very quiet even though the placa below has three restaurants. The convenience of the location cannot be overstated, it is fantastic. It is in the middle of all the pedestrian streets and old part of town, so much fun. We always felt safe. Right outside the entrance are three restaurants (pizza, El altril, and one other), an aTM cash machine, a wine shop called Vino, a gelato stand, and many bakeries and small grocery shops, butchers, tapas, and bars. The larger covered market Mercat Santa Caterena is a block away and Picasso Museum a five min walk. Metro is close too. We walked to the beach from here. It was so much fun to walk these narrow streets, especially in the evenings.

I travel to Barcelona annually for work and have found staying in apartments more cost effective as well as more homely during my extended stay. I have tried several apartments over the years but the Carders apartement is the best one by far.
It is reasonably priced, comfortable, in a great location... and best of all, in a quiet neighbourhood so I no longer need to wear earplugs whilst sleeping as I needed to in all the other apartments!
The only things that detracted from my stay was the electricity that kept cutting out despite there not being many appliances on at once, and the terrible check-in on this occasion. -

Left on 11/09/2010 for a stay in October 2010
I liked the apartment. The living room and dining room are bright and welcoming. One window shade though had been pulled off its moorings, and never got fixed during our stay. The window shades, while stylish, were really getting banged up when being pulled up and down. With regard to the bathrooms, our bathroom across the hall needed some hooks on the door for hanging clothes or a dob kit. The hall bathroom needs a little table to hold toiletries or clothes. I'd put hooks on the back of most of the doors. Charming hooks, not trashy stuff.
But I loved the location, watching the street from the balcony and the little markets. The only down side to the neighborhood was when we were walking back from around Santa Maria del Mar one night around 12:30 and my boyfriend's sister had her purse grabbed, and she was roughed up a little. It was stupid on our part, because she was carrying purse under her arm
also, not everyone drinks tea. Some of us drink coffee and enjoy making espresso coffee at home. (we actually bought a pot but took it back to the us.
I would also put some information in the book on getting a cab early in the morning. We had a number from my nephew who lives in Barcelona, but it wasn't clear if a cab could actually get in to Carrer Carders pedestrian way, so we went back to Vermeel alllada and Carrer Princesa to get the cab.
When we called after the robbery and asked about changing hte lock, the locksmith was there the next day which was great. No complaints on that front.

Left on 10/12/2010 for a stay in September 2010
My husband and I and my father-in-law arrived at the apartment, but without the help of a local passing by, we would have had trouble finding the entrance. While the address is 23 Calle Carders, the entrance is around the corner. It would be helpful to add the detail to your check-in instructions.
We arrived to the representative from Habitat apts. being there along with the cleaning people still in the middle of cleaning the apartment. We had a quick introduction to the apt. and waited for the cleaning people to finish. There was a blind down in one of the bedrooms & someone was to come and fix it yet the day we arrived.
We found the apartment to be mostly as represented. The walls were beat up a bit and had marks on them. The furniture seemed a bit worn. Also, the television picture was not great. The Habitat representative told us that she had no control over the owner replacing the television, even though she knows it should be replaced.
One of the main reasons we rented the apartment was due to it having wireless internet access. We were instructed on how to access the internet. When we tried, we could not connect. After contacting the office a few times, we gave up on having access and had to go to a local bar each time we needed internet and buy something in order to use the internet. The office did, however, credit us $100 euros because of the problem. I would strongly encourage you to have the internet access improved.
The blind was never fixed. A man did come to put a cover over the window, but would have eliminated all light to the room. We chose to keep the blanket over the window.
We found the apartment to be very centrally located, easy to get to most areas of Barcelona by foot and felt very safe throughout our stay. The local neighborhood was great and we met some very interesting people. -

We couldn't have been happier about our stay at the Carders apartment. The location is amazing. It's not easy to find a sunny corner in the narrow streets of the old quarter, but as it is situated on a small open square, this apartment is wonderfully bright and cheery with a beautiful view of palm trees outside of your window. And in the evenings, after a long day of sight seeing, you can enjoy a pitcher of sangria at one of the cafes on your doorstep. Better yet, the apartment is located only a block away from the Santa Caterina market, which is a foodies' dream and also boasts an excellent restaurant and traditional supermarket in addition to traditional market stalls. The apartment itself is remarkably spacious and well laid out - it really lives up to the pictures. It was prefect for two couples. We were travelling with my brother-in-law and his girlfriend, who are starting their own design firm and ended up having to do some work and take a conference call during our stay. I am happy to report that the wifi in the apartment worked beautifully. This is the second time we have stayed in a Habitat apartment in BCN, and we plan to do so again for our next visit and recommend it to all our friends who are visiting the city. It was a really wonderful stay. Thank you, Habitat!

apartment great and well located. 3 suggestions for future:
1. it seemed a bit mean to have absolutely nothing helpful for arrival from overseas - no soap, no milk, no tea bags. even just a few things would be inexpensive and very nice to provide
2. we wanted assistance booking a cab to airport from habitat who refused, other than for very expensive limo service. this was very disappointing especially as we then found a hotel to do if for us. even if you said `it's not our fault if the taxi doesn't come' that would have been better and quite reasonable
3. we were told we could get wireless access and nothing happened and no explanation. when we called on the apparently 24 hour number we had no reply until next day -

The customer service from start to finish was excellent. We were met outside the apartment on time, shown around the apartment in a professional and thorough fashion, and any queries we had were responded to promptly. Habitat also facilitated a later than normal check out from hte apartment as we had a late flight home.
The apartment itself is modern, clean and comfortable. One bedroom is located off the living room and is quite small, but the other is spacious with an en-suite. The area in which the apartment is located is mainly residential, is very quiet at night and we felt safe at all times, although we were told that there are many pickpockets hanging about(a feature of Barcelona).
The area is a great base for sightseeing in Barcelona, and also has a lovely market (Santa Caterina) and local shops close by so dinner can be bough easily if you plan to eat in, which we did.
Overall a very positive experience and we would gladly recommend to friends.

A spacious two bedroom apartment with good equipment and comfortable living area. Tiny balcony but a fun place to sit out and watch the world go by.
Ideal location for exploring the centre of the city. Yet also a very quiet apartment
Excellent service on the ground from Habitat Apartments, especially in dealing with all the issues of having a bag of key documents and belongings stolen. -

the appartment needs a bit of loving, fixing up, there are leaks, the
organisation of Habitat is so and so, people coming in and out anytime...
but the appartment is really confortable, I am used to rent in Europe, the
location in Barcelona is perfect, in the middle of everything, one feels like he
live in this city because Carders is a real street with all kinds of people...
so I disliked the organisation of Habitat, but I must state that we were
expected on time which is a plus... Rain made a huge mess one night in the
bath room, this should be fixed and seems to be a recurrent situation...
but we were 3 adults staying there for 2 weeks and we would all return to 23
carders...

We were delighted both with the apartment and with its situation. The
covered market a couple of minutes walk away was a joy, and in the
opposite direction the tapas bars and restaurants gave a wide choice or
eating opportunities. Ten minutes to the Playa Catalunya, the Ramblas or
the sea made sightseeing so easy. We would definitely recommend this
apartment to friends, with one big proviso - you improve your service! See
below.
On the down side, having been met by your charming agent on our arrival
and been given a number to call if there were problems, we were less than
impressed when we called to report water pouring through the ceiling of the
main bathroom to be told to call back in office hours. This problem
continued throughout our stay until the last evening. Perhaps the
inhabitant above us did not take a shower that night? A considerable time
during our sightseeing trips was taken up with calling and emailing your
offices, all for no effect. We frankly could not use the bathroom in the
evening which meant that we were obliged to use our en suite for the four
of us. Not convenient and definitely not what we wanted, given the
considerable time I had spent sourcing an apartment with two bathrooms,
and the extra money which we had to pay for this privelege. -

We had a great time in Barcelona, apartment was in a great location near lot's of nice bars and restaurants in the the Born area.Apartment itself was very nice and the apartment block also very quiet.British pub (Blackhorse) round the corner if you need to watch british football during your stay,Pizza Love next to the apartment offer very tasty pizza's which you can enjoy with a few cold beers. It's a great location to explore the city and we found everyone at Habitat very helpful and we will use them again when we return.

We have stayed in this apartment twice now and love it. The apartment is big and light, has everything you could need and is nice and quiet despite being a minute away from a busy square. The location is fab, we always stay in Born because there is a lot going on, the local restaurants and shops are great, the local market is brilliant and you can walk to the beach.

Denver, CONice Barcelona apartment in great location
Left on 06/21/2009 for a stay in June 2009
We stayed 3 nights in the Carders apartment in Barcelona and enjoyed it very much. It is in a convenient location that allowed us to walk to many attractions (we like to walk and didn't mind walking several blocks as opposed to taking a bus which was also convenient for those who don't like to walk longer distances). This is an old area of town near many narrow streets filled with shops and restaurants. We also enjoyed the peaceful walks in nearby Parc de la Ciutadella which shouldn't be missed.
The only negative was the very small shower in the one bathroom.
We had a minor problem with the clothes washer and the service was great. We called Habitat and they had someone on site in less than 30 minutes so that was an unexpected surprise.
Overrall we would recommend this apartment which was a great value for the money! -

We loved the location of the apartment and the size. The following is a list of things we didn't like.
1.Blinds were broken in the dining room we had no privacy.
2.tv didn't work
3.jets in the bath tub were so dirty I couldn't use the tub.
4.The beds were like sleeping on the floor, very hard and uncomfortable.
We love Barcelona and will probably be back next year. The experiance of making reservations with Habitat was excellant, if I were to use them again
I would make sure to check out certain amenities in
the apartment before renting.

Kansas USANice apartment, but dangerous location
Left on 06/17/2009 for a stay in May 2009
Five minutes before we arrived to check in to the apartment, two of my older sons were sitting in the courtyard waiting for us. One of my sons had his backpack between his legs, because we have been warned the area has thieves. A guy yelled at my boys and as my son turned, another guy ran by and stole his backpack. He lost a new camera and hundreds of vacation dollars. He was able to chase the crook to the point they threw out his passport and charge cards, so my son stopped the pursuit because he was running in flip flops. We heard of this happening all over the area, so I can not recommend this apartment until someone cleans up the neighborhood. The lady that checked us in told us it happened to clients in the same apartment the week before. Someone stole a computer off the shoulder of a kid. We asked about a police report and she told us it probably wouldn't do any good.
The apartment was large and clean. Many appliances available. One of the beds kept falling down, the leg kept folding in. We called about it, but nothing was done. The towels were a bit worn and the sheets and pillows were not a nice quality. The apartment door was very secure, so we slept o.k. The cooling system worked well. A good deal of space for your money. No soap, shampoo or paper goods provided.
No matter how nice the apartment, there is no way I can recommend a place where I walked around looking over my shoulder. Just my opinion.Response from Habitat Apartments - 06/17/2009

We regret what happened to our guest. Unfortunately the areas where tourists love to be, including the Gothic Quarter and the Born in the city centre, are hot spots for thieves. We advise our guests of this but stopping thieves is out of our power. Thieves, as in any large city, are a problem and we are rallying for more police surveillance in the city centre to reduce this. In the meantime we do warn our guests of these risks. The Born area and Gothic Quarter are a great place to explore and are full of history...but we advise our guests to be aware at all times.
