Barceloneta is a neighborhood in the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona. It is known for its expanse of beaches , as well as its numerous bars and seafood restaurants . You will find the town close to the famous Barcelona port, near to some great museums, and within a short walking distance or a quick metro ride from all of the top spots for sightseeing in the city. La Barceloneta was originally constructed for the residents of La Ribera, who were displaced by the construction of the Ciutadella fortress built by King Felipe V in the 18th Century. Since then, with the development of Port Vell and Port Olímpic, the area has become a major attraction for tourists and residents. Nearby is the Barcelona aquarium and IMAX theatre, a large shopping center called Maremagnum, and a number of nightclubs, although the neighborhood itself is relatively quiet. If you walk down Passeig de Colom from Barceloneta, you will soon find yourself at Las Ramblas . Plenty of the beach apartments in Barcelona are located in this area, making it an ideal choice for a spring or summer vacation.

4 females stayed following a cruise. Beds were comfortable, pull-out not so much but I expect that of sleep sofa or fold-up. Linens & towels freshly washed. Washer in apt was godsend!! We needed it after the cruise to wash some essential items. Apt had a drying rack so we joined the locals and put 'em out on the balcony to dry. Kitchen was stocked with basics but we really didn't eat-in except breakfast. Also stocked w/ cleaning supplies, laundry & dish soap. 1st floor apt which was up 2 (maybe 3) flights of stairs. Security locks on entrance to building and on apt door. A/C worked well. Hot water held up through 4 showers. Market and lots of restaurants nearby. Bus, metro, and main street easy walking. Beach area also has walkway, bikes, & rollerblade paths (reminds me of California). Great people watching. We didn't run into any people problems on the beach or in the neighborhood.
Our only complaint was no shelve or caddy in shower to put soap or shampoo. Like any vacation rental, furniture and stuff are showing wear but the colors in apt are bright and happy, besides, that didn't matter to any of us when we looked out the doors and saw the view of beach and sea!!! We'd go back in a second. -

We had travelled here in July of 2011 and stayed 4 days prior to boarding the Disney Cruise. It was a bit tough to actually find the location and when we did we buzzed the owner and he let us in. We are used to very nice accommodations and were a bit nervous to be honest with you with the way the area looked and with how everything had bars and multiple locks on the doors but after the 1st day of exploring and speaking to others with children our fears were put to rest. You still need to be cautions of pick pockets but you should be looking for that anywhere.
The apartment is small, with 2 separate bedrooms, bathroom with shower, small kitchen equipped with a washing machine. Tv and radio. The rooms were clean, the beds were acceptable as far as comfort goes. We were concerned because there are a couple bars near the room but we did not hear any noise at all at night other then the fantastic music of the sea!
The location is amazing!!! Right on the beach and a close walk to lots of fantastic restaurants. There is a market very close by where you can pick up great snacks/sandwiches for lunch on the beach. If you are a good walker you can get to both La Rambla and the Gothic area on foot. We even walked all the way to Sagrada Família and enjoyed Spain as the Spaniards would.
All in all a great place with lots to do! -

The apartment is very well situated with beautiful views across the sea. The main bedroom was spacious and nicely decorated. The kitchen facilities were cramped,the kettle leaked and much of the crockery and utensils were greasy and needed wahing before we could use them. The bathroom was extremely cramped and we couldn't get any hot water form the tiny sink there. We had a good week as the weather was beautiful and we love Barcelona, but we will look for a different apartment when we visit our son in Barcelona again in april.

Un buen fin de semana pasado en este piso (localizacion, limpieza, vista sobre el mar)pero cualquier problemas fueron un poco desagrables. La lavadora estaba rotata. Entonces, habia agua que fluia por tierra en el suelo sin cesar en la habitacion durante los 2 dias.
Habia tambien mucho viento durante una noche y los postigos de la habitación crujían, temblaban.
