There are plenty of small, local shops in the area, particularly along the Carrer de Sants, where you will find household goods, as well as all the essential groceries. For fresh produce, you’ve got the large Hostafrancs covered market, which is like a more orderly version of the famous Boquería market just off the Ramblas, it’s a good way to get some first-hand experience of an real Catalan shopping experience.

For more shopping, there’s the large converted bullring of Las Arenas, just on the corner of Plaça de Espanya. It has fashion and footwear stores, a basement supermarket, a cinema and restaurants on the top floor where you can enjoy a panoramic view over the city.

Just off the Plaça de Espanya you’ll find the entrance to Montjuïc and Barcelona Fira, with the grand spectacle of the Magic Fountain and escalators leading up to the Palau Nacional, where the art museum MNAC is housed. Up in the other direction is Camp Nou, for any ardent football fans, while towards L’Eixample Esquerra is the green Parc de Joan Miró, presided over by his iconic statue ‘Dona I Ocell’ (‘Woman and Bird’).

  We were very happy with our stay at Fira Place 2. The staff were very helpful during the booking in procedure. The apartment was clean, the beds comfortable, and overall the apartment was well appointed.
  The negatives - there was not a roof top area available (as had been advertised), the lift was not in operation (despite being in place for a number of months) and the parking was very "tight" - we had a large car which was difficult to manouver around corners.
  Positively - the location was great, there were shops, supermarkets and resturants very close by, and the sub-way station was only a couple of minutes walk. We felt very safe in this area, and the door security added to this.

  El apartamento es muy cómodo y con todo lo necesario. Tal vez por el hecho de tener un solo cuarto de baño no sea recomendable para más de 4 personas, aunque tiene capacidad para 6.
  Durante los días que estuve el ascensor ni funcionó. Aunque era primera planta subir y baja las maletas fue un poco duro porque nuestro viaje era para varios días y las maletas pesaban.
  Otro pero es la distancia del centro de Barcelona. Está un poco alejado. Yo estaba con coche y costaba unos 15-20 minutos llegar sin contar el tiempo para aparcar.
  En resumen, muy buen apartamento para 4, zona tranquila y si no te importa la distancia del centro muy recomendable,
