Dear Guest, thank you for sharing your experience at the flat.
We have taken the appropriated measures, to provide better furniture, cupboards, and TV for the near future. The apartment price is according with the area where it is located. In order to be central, inside the historical district, and close to most city monuments a traveller must understand that the streets sometimes will smell like urine because there many dogs, and the streets are made of stone and narrow. Nonetheless the streets are washed with sea water by small trucks on daily basis. We are sad you had a bad experience, because we do consider that the apartment would not deserve a so low qualification. Many thanks for your comments. -

Rotterdam, The NetherlandsRun-down appartment in a run-down area
Left on 10/04/2010 for a stay in September 2010
Good quality hotels are extremely hard to find in central Barcelona. I'm told 85% fill rate is not unusual. This (I guess) is why short-let holiday-use appratments have sprung up.
This one in Gothic is centrally located - but Gothic isn't somewhere for the solo or all-female traveller. It's dark narrow streets forced me (middle aged male) to be very aware of my surroundings, especially at night. And since Barcelona is fairly small and has an excellent metro system, I would advise staying somewhere slightly less central.
The appartment was not well looked after and full of old cheap Ikea furniture. Although reasonably clean, the kitchen utensils required a thorough scrub before first use. AirCo as advertised operates in only the lounge. The terrace is over-looked by many other appartments and noisy and nosey neighbours. It also above a metal workshop whose fumes drive you back indoors when they're working (and they start at 07:30 by raising their metal shutters immeadiately below you with a clatter). It's one advantage is that it can cater for a large group (3 bedrooms: 1 dbl; 2 sngl) plus sofa bde in lounge, indeed the whole appartment felt like student accomodation.
In short, it's OK to use as a base for a large young group operating on a budget and wanting to be centrally located, but nothing else. Don't expect frills or to sit outside.Response from TRAVELLING 2 BARCELONA - 12/24/2010

with all due respect, we consider that Mrs Oliver Davis was not able to pick up the right apartment for her needs and requirements.
We do considering the flat a money well spend investment considering the size of the flat, the terrace, the price per night and the central location.
For this reason we consider it a great option for a short stay in Barcelona.
Indeed there is no frills, but we truly consider that the terrace itself is quite luxury for Barcelona that some know how to appreciate,
Many guests have enjoyed it very much and is the best attribute of the flat.
The terrace is indeed a interior terrace but there are very few windows from neighbors, and we consider it very private.
Her low quality experience at the flat make us think also that Mrs Oliver Davis is not used to stay lodged in the historical district of big European cities.
The Gothic and the Historical District is not old, they are ancient, and the buildings are monuments catalogue as cultural heritage.
Regarding security of the area we consider that the area has no significant factor that makes it unsafer than any other Barcelona district.
There is no knifes, guns or violence I Barcelona, therefore less dangerous than other Europeans cities or even New York City.
In seven years we have been managing this unit the furniture have been changing often, and as most of the average standard apartments in Barcelona
The furniture is all Ikea. It tends to be more practical, functional and easier to replace. But is a pretty decoration from our understanding.
For a design apartment we could recommend other options, but the prices would be higher.
We would be glad to assist her in a future time for a more suitable unit to her needs.
