Additional Location Information
El Barri Gòtic , also known as the 'Gothic Quarter' is the heart of the old Barcelona city and the first part of the original Barcino, the ancient Roman city of Barcelona. El Barri Gòtic is located in the center of Barcelona, and with Las Ramblas on one side and Via Laietana on the other, its boundaries stretch all the way to the Mediterranean coast . The area is characterized by small, labyrinthine streets, intimate plazas, public spaces, and beautiful Gothic architecture . In the Barri Gòtic you will find the famous Barcelona Cathedral, as well as the political and public heart of Barcelona, Plaça de Sant Jaume , where the Generalitat de Catalunya operates. El Barri Gòtic is the perfect place to get an authentic feel for the rich history of Barcelona, as well as its effects on present day life in the city. Starting from Plaça de Catalunya, a walk down the Portal del Àngel, the first medieval entrance to the city, will take you to the many commercial shops and cafés that line the streets. While staying in an apartment in the Gothic Quarter, get lost among the many winding streets to discover quaint restaurants, shops, boutiques, and bars. Plaça Reial is also amongst the many must-see spots in the Gótico, all of which highlight the diversity that can be seen within the Catalan capital.

Dream 'N Go Travel - Canada
Pickering, On CanadaOrganized Check in/out, Good accommodation, Location fabulous bu
Left on 01/12/2012 for a stay in October 2012
The owner was most accommodating for an early check in and was waiting for us upon arrival. He showed us around the apartment and ensured we were settled in. The apartment is a spacious 3 bedroom with full modern kitchen and bathroom with tub/shower. It would satisfy a North american tourist. The location is overlooking the ocean with spectacular views. Each bedroom has a large window or door opening to the outside. There is a narrow balcony that wraps around the floor.
That being said there are some downsides. The location is at the very end of Gran Via the main tourist thoroughfare. It is therefore noisy. There was a band set up with loud music until midnight (not bad really) but from then on all you heard were voices of people yelling outside and the garbage trucks (reverse bleeping sound and banging as they loaded the large containers) as they manouvered around the sidestreets. As the apartment is not air conditioned, we needed the windows open for some fresh air. The beds are hard at best. We did not have a good night sleep.
Overall the opinions of our fellow travellers were that it was a good spot for young people and fine for one night, but they would not want to stay for a longer period of time. -

The unique value of this property is the great location. It's situated on the Ramblas of Barcelona. The rest was OK as well: clean, friendly owner, etc. All you can ask for. We had a great time here.

Excellent apartment in a great location close to tour bus stop, taxis and lovely marina as well as Las Ramblas of course. Could really have used air conditioning but in an old building this just may not be practical.

Washington DC Metro Area, USAOk- but not as nice as the pictures.
Left on 07/05/2010 for a stay in June 2010
We stayed here for our honeymoon at the end of June/beginning of July. The pictures of this apartment must be very, very old.
First the good: This place is very convenient to the metro, close enough to the beach, and easy to identify to cab drivers by asking for the "statue de Colombe." There was plenty of nice natural light, and there were 2 fans provided. Check in was pretty easy, checkout was a breeze, and we felt safe and secure even with the window-doors to the balcony open.
The bad: Everything inside has fallen apart since the pictures were taken. Everything in the kitchen seemed like it hadn't been washed in months, the floors were disgusting (black feet after walking from the bathroom to the bedroom). None of the bathroom lights work, except these little spotlights hooked to a new (but uglier) mirror, so there was no usable light in there. The shower chooses its own temperature, regardless of the knobs, and it changes at whim from freezing to scalding. The drain doesn't empty for hours, leaving the tub really gross (after showering, not even taking a bath). There are no screens on the windows and no air conditioning, so prepare to be eaten alive by mosquitoes, or sweat all night. There is also now a mammoth dresser blocking the door from the main bedroom to the middle bedroom, so there is no airflow there. We didn't spend a whole lot of time in the apartment (mostly out doing things), but if you plan to use the kitchen and/or hang out in your room, you should probably choose another place.Response from Apartment Barcelona - 07/08/2010
