The central location is ideal for exploring the city and to combine cultural visits to the near Picasso Museum or Santa Maria del Mar Cathedral, shopping in the most fashionable shops in the city, enjoying a mojito in one of the bars in “Paseo del Born” and also going to the near beach. We recently stayed at Flavia's penthouse and we highly recommend it for several reasons. First, the individual who met us, Angela, to provide keys, etc, is a terrific person who went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and checked on us to see how we were enjoying Barcelona.
Secondly, the location is superb. We walked many of the neighborhoods and this was our favorite by far with great restaurants, bakeries, outdoor seating, street musicians and arts shops everywhere. Simply wandering around the narrow alleys teaming with life was a blast.
Finally, the apartment, though small, is well designed making the best use of space possible. The two outdoor terraces are perfect for a snack, a glass of wine or sunbathing. This is an area with significant nightlife so there is a lot of sounds throughout the night but we found them part of the great fabric of a wonderful Barcelona neighborhood. We enormously enjoyed our stay in Barcelona this past March, mainly because of the great location of the place and the two balconies! Most our nights ended with a bottle of wine and some cheese on the balcony while we enjoyed our view of the stained glass from the Santa Maria cathedral. The apartment had everything you needed, great restaurants were right around the corner, and the size was perfect for a party of two. Thanks for the great visit!

I had been to Barcelona before, but this was a great new experience. We went to sleep seeing a faint glow through the stained glass windows of Iglesia de Santa Maria and woke to the (not too loud) sound of church bells. Also, the apartment is very close to many interesting bars and Barceloneta is not far to walk. A little pricey, but a great place to stay.

My wife and I stayed in Flavia's apartment for 10 days in September. We loved everything about the apartment. The location is fantastic. It is a 3 minute walk to the Picasso Museum. Lots of good restaurants in the neighborhood. We had our choice of having our morning coffee on either the bedroom or kitchen terrace. The apartment is very comfortable. The owner was very helpful with restaurant recommendations and places to see. Flavia was also a great resource for helping us plan a driving tour of the Costa Brava. We would recommend this apartment to anyone who is looking for a home away from home in the beutiful city of Barcelona.

Hi Muriel, I am sorry the hot water was not enough for 4 persons. That is why we left an advice note to use the hot water with moderation. It is a small apartment and unfortunately we do not have a gas boiler but only an electric one.

The apartment is located in a beautiful central area of Barcelona called El Born and I can't recommend it enough. It's full of tapas bars, restaurants, boutiques and cafes. The entrance to the apartment is right opposite one of the side entrances to Santa Maria del Mar - a magnificent gothic church.
The apartment itself is very interesting, as it's arranged over two floors and has two sunny terraces. We loved buying croissants in a bakery on Santa Maria del Mar square and having breakfast on the top terrace overlooking Barcelona roofs - very romantic.
Flavia and the check in guys were incredibly helpful and spoke very good English. -

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. Flavia called to offer support. Ingrid was punctual and really friendly when checking us in and out. The church bells stop between 11pm and 7am. The BFC won their match! ... All together a wonderful vacation.

It is absolutely worth the few extra euros to be in the premium location in Barcelona.
So many cafes and restaurants and a great street scene. We walked everywhere, even to the sangria familia because Barcelona itself is a work of art. Flavia was most courteous and helpful, she phoned to ensure we were content and I have no doubt she would have responded had there been any problem. The flat is lovely, just as shown, we loved the terraces. The bed is comfortable and the shower works very well. This apartment is best for a couple as anyone sleeping on the sofa bed would be disturbed by a person using the bathroom in the night. It would not be good for disabled persons and young children. We'd love to recommend this apartment to friends. Shop at the Carrefour on Las Ramblas for the best prices. -

We stayed in this apartment for 7 nights in May. Everything went well from check in to check out and the apartment was comfortable and quiet by Barcelona standards. The appliances, although a little dated all worked well. We especially enjoyed the large lower terrace as it was sunny for most of our stay. There are stairs in the apartment and a flight of slightly grungy stairs to the elevator on the ground floor so this may be of concern to some.
The location is also very good, close to a small supermarket and bakery, food shops, cafes bars and restaurants. There is a bike rental shop a few minutes away, a huge park and the beautiful Santa Maria del Mar church opposite. The metro is a few minutes away. -

The location is excellent, just across the narrow street from Santa Marie del Mar, a beautiful cathedral built in the 14th century. The penthouse was a bit difficult to find as the taxi driver finally had to call for directions, but we were met as promised and were quickly situated. Everything you need was there including a clothes washer and good Wifi. A couple of cautions - the elevator is located at the top of a flight of stairs and the bedroom is located a floor above the bathroom - meaning that anyone with mobility problems should probably shy away.

We just returned from a wonderful week in Barcelona. The apartment was just as described and a perfect home away from home. It is situated in a great area for food and general ease of getting around the city. We slept like angels and were never bothered by the church bells. Flavia called to make sure everything was in order for us and helped us with friendly suggestions. The apartment was clean and well-appointed. We hated to leave! The terraces are a big bonus. The bed is super comfy. We used the WiFi to communicate with family back home. All in all a truly great experience.

We just had a great stay at this location. It is right next to Santa Maria del Mar and a half block from Bubo, a great cafe and dessert location. We found the location to be very handy, as it is so close to the Picasso museum, the PreColumbian art museum, the historic El Correo post office, Set Portes, and Ciutadella Park. Every day we toured from this location and without fail it was scenic and central to where we were going. Lucas was our check-in and out person. He was excellent. Even though we were 45 minutes late, he materialized the moment we touched the bell and got us situated. He informed us of all the little quirks of the apartment. Check out was just as smooth, and he was one minute early, promptly supplied our deposit, and that was it. The apartment itself was simple and efficient. The living room sofa bed was more like 2 twin sized in an L shape for sleeping, since it doesn't really "fold out", so be aware, and the downstairs sliding door does not fully lock, but has a covering sliding door that rolls down to cover it, so this is not a security issue. The upstairs bedroom is spacious, The mattress is comfortable and queen-sized, be ready for the staircase to get there. It was perfect for me (on verge of 40) my son (20) and okay for my mom (64). Not recommended if you have mobility issues, or need to use a stroller for little ones, but this was all disclosed on the website in advance. The flat even has a clothes washer (no dryer) that is beyond the website description. Other reviewers have described the church bells, it is true you can definitely hear them - I was not awakened by them until 11 am, even though they start at 7 am, and end at 11 pm. Not a problem for me. You will love both terraces. Truly a lovely stay.

My wife and I stayed here for two weeks in November, 2011. The location is fantastic, lots of narrow walking streets, cafes & restaurants in the neighborhood (see the address, as the map location in Trip advisor is wrong).
Apartment was as described by the owner. Check-in and check-out were easy and right at the times we requested.
Drawbacks, that might concern some people - you must walk up about 20 stairs to get to the elevator. In the apartment, the bathroom is on the main floor, while the bedroom is on the 2nd floor, making nightime bathroom trips a bit challenging.

This was a great experience all around. Our contact with Flavia, the owner and her aide Cristian was always extremely helpful. The apartment is as good as the photos, and everything was neat and clean and functioned properly. Tons of room, and a superb view.
The location couldn't be better, as it is right beside the lovely Iglesia Santa Maria del Mar. This made it very easy to find initially, and is walking distance to most museums, galleries, etc. that you would want to see. Also, just a 15 minute stroll to the beach, where we went to spend a couple of afternoons soaking up the sun.

Our family stayed at Flavia's penthouse apartment for 7 nights in July 2011. Everything about this experience was wonderful from the communications with Flavia to the check in and check out with Cristian. First, the apartment: The kitchen had everything we needed including a refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher and microwave. We had breakfast and either dinner or tapas each night on the terrace which was a wonderful. Our two children (9 and 11) shared the futon to sleep. The upstairs bedroom and terrace was a lovey respite for the adults and a chance for everyone to have some space. The best was on Saturday night when the church is lit up at night. Also the ceiling fan and air conditioning made sleeping perfect.
The location: We wanted to have a neighborhood experience and this apartment was perfect for that. There are wonderful stores nearby (including an unbelievable sausage store on the first floor) and each day we tried items from the various specialty shops. We recommend Vila Vinatecca and the grocery store next to it as well as the pastry shop just down the street. There was enough hustle and bustle to make things lively and safe however the street noise never reached the top floors. The beautiful chimes of the Santa Maria Del Mar added to the ambiance.
Getting around: Take the R2Sud train from the airport to the Franca Station and you are three blocks from the apartment. There are two Metro stops nearby (Jaume and Barceloneta) that take less than five minutes of walking. The Barceloneta beach is 10 minutes and well worth a visit. We also recommend La Bombeta in Barceloneta for bombas. Again, this was the perfect location!
Also, we highly, highly, highly recommend Cafe d'La academia for dinner. The best experience is to eat inside. It is just 6 minutes away and worth every step!

The place is way better than the pictures suggest.
There is a huge terrace off the kitchen and another
great terrace off the the master bedroom, upstairs loft style.
The location is amazing...it is right next to the cathedral.
Great restaurants nearby, around the corner from Picasso museum free on Sundays and the Born, old town area is great to ramble around. Super close to Barri Gotic and 7 minute walk to Ramblas but super noisy and full of drunk tourists, gets old fast. Super market near by. Walk to Beach!!! The place is super quiet, elegant, brand new tv, and a super easy to use Kitchen. Flavias was very gracious allowed an early check in and an early check out to catch a flight. Best place to stay in Barcelona!!! Historic and modern!!! -

We just had a great stay in the penthouse flat; comfortable for 4 people, great location, very well equipped, spotlessly clean and helpful staff. We appreciated the supplies like olive oil, coffee, tea and sugar that were nice to have. You can communicate with Flavia easily before your trip via email and during your stay. The photos on the site are true. Great location on the Calle Santa Maria - next to the square and church. Wonderful to sit on the patio for morning coffee and for "happy hour" before going out for the evening. Deli right next door and supermercato just around the corner. Be sure to bring your earplugs for sleeping through the church bell chimes. Very safe area and building.

What a beautiful place to stay!
We were lucky with the February weather and enjoyed a few dinners on the main terrace in the glow of one of Santa Maria del Mar's stained glass windows, and cups of tea in the sunshine on the upstairs terrace listening to the church bells. It would have been helpful to have a little more space to dine indoors if we'd wanted to (there was seating for at least four people at the outside table, but just a ledge with two chairs in the kitchen). The bed was very comfortable and we slept well.
The location was perfect, on a pedestrian street near a plaza that's lively until quite late, but we didn't have trouble with noise. There's a fantastic sausage shop just downstairs, and Santa Catalina market and other good shopping nearby. The Picasso museum, the cathedral, the history museum of Barcelona, and the Jaume 1 metro station are just a short walk away. Franca rail station is also close by, which made it easy for us to take a day trip to Tarragona to see the Roman aqueduct.
The apartment's owner, Flavia, was great about making sure that we had everything we needed for our stay, and gave us some tips for things to do in the neighborhood.
We'll certainly want to stay here if we visit Barcelona again.
