Barceloneta is a neighborhood in the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona. It is known for its expanse of beaches , as well as its numerous bars and seafood restaurants . You will find the town close to the famous Barcelona port, near to some great museums, and within a short walking distance or a quick metro ride from all of the top spots for sightseeing in the city. La Barceloneta was originally constructed for the residents of La Ribera, who were displaced by the construction of the Ciutadella fortress built by King Felipe V in the 18th Century. Since then, with the development of Port Vell and Port Olímpic, the area has become a major attraction for tourists and residents. Nearby is the Barcelona aquarium and IMAX theatre, a large shopping center called Maremagnum, and a number of nightclubs, although the neighborhood itself is relatively quiet. If you walk down Passeig de Colom from Barceloneta, you will soon find yourself at Las Ramblas . Plenty of the beach apartments in Barcelona are located in this area, making it an ideal choice for a spring or summer vacation.

  Once we got over the shock of the entryway appearance and stairwell, we found the apartment very comfortable for 4 of us. Renovations are underway. We didn't use the washing machine but did hang our clothes on the line overlooking the street--like the locals. The balcony was as big as a kitchen table--even one person could not sit out there. Any requests were met promptly by the staff whose office was just a block or so away--we requested a bigger coffee pot and more sheets and towels. They were delivered before supper. We were just across the road from the beach--gorgeous walking area and we walked into the main downtown area finding lots of things to see on the way. Might add--one of our party was using a cane.

  perfect location, but bad equipment and not very clean

  As we saw the photos, we decided us for this apartement because we wanted to have breakfast at the balcony. But don't believe the photos. It looks bigger as it is. We was 4 persons and the equipment in the apartement was not enough. But all in all a nice small apartement.
