We had a really lovely stay in the apartment for the Easter week. The location is so central that everything is on your doorstep, not only the Old City and sights but the convenience of restaurants, bars, cafes, bakeries etc. There is even a Carrefore supermarket just around the corner.
The apartment is a studio flat that is very cool, comfortable and well equipped. The stairs up do seem a bit daunting at first especially as we had a weeks luggage to get up them, but Mario came to the rescue and took them up for us. But without luggage to carry the stairs are easy enough once you get used to them even at my age of 56.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment, so much so that I am thinking of going again! -

A great apartment, in an ideal location, just off La Rambla.
The apartment was very spacious, clean and a perfect base to explore the city.
As well as being within walking distance from the great nightlife/restaurants in the Raval district and Gothic quarter, the apartment is a 2 minute walk from La Placa Catalunya metro station, which we used to get to The Nou Camp.
We would both highly reccomend this as a place to stay.

The apartment is very nice, well decorated, self-sufficient and it is location is what one needs to explore Barcelona by feet. It is so central that most of tourist interest spots are in couple minutes walk.
The apartment is small but very comfortable quite enough for a couple.
Mario is a very welcoming and helpful host.
As the room is near pl. Cataluna it can be reached by aerobus from the airport which is inexpensive, quick and comfortable option.
If you have much heavy luggage the stairs might be challenging, otherwise it is a good excercise -

We spent 13 nights in this lovely studio apartment over Christmas and New Year and absolutely loved it. It's very central and surprisingly quite for the location. After a day out sightseeing we looked forward to sinking into that comfortable red couch. Mario was very friendly and helpful and the apartment is as you see in the photos very stylish, clean and cosy. We highly recommend this little Gem and great value over a hotel.

We stayed at this apartment from 12-16 November and cannot fault the place. Mario was brilliant to deal with from the initial query right to the day we left. The apartment is in a great location just off Las Ramblas & a couple of minutes walk from Plaza de Catalunya. The apartment is compact but has everything you need and more and the furniture etc is really lovely. The only slight downside is the stairs as everyone else has commented but as we knew about them before we went and are fit enough for them not to cause a problem, they really weren't an issue for us. Barcelona is a beautiful city with lots to see and do and we would recommend a trip to Camp Nou, Parc Guell and the harbour area - there are so many others we could recommend but these were our favourites.
Overall we had a brilliant stay and would highly recommend this apartment to anyone who would like to be centrally located in a very comfortable apartment. Thank you Mario. -

The apartment is situated right between the La Rambla and El Gotic- but far enough away from the busy streets that we were not disturbed by noise. We were proximate to all of the sights that we wanted to see- and convenient to La Plaza de Catalunya to get transportation to the airport.
Mario was very accommodating with our schedule in checking us in and out, and we had no need to contact him during our time there because everything was perfect.

Mario was responding promptly for my messeges during the reservation time. He was able to negotiate the price in lower season time. He took care and was active before our arival and during our stay. The flat had everything we expected and knew from descriptions and pictures + a few additional small things that we needed. The apartment is perfectly located (old city, close to tube and buses).

We have spend 15 days and we stayed at this appartment in Barcelona. We were very happy with the choice that we made and, in fact, all the comments that made regarding this place, on this website, are absolutely true !!! At the beginning, we were not very confortable to travel from Canada to Spain and not having a reservation made by credit card. Bringing the full amount in cash to give upon arrival was a bit worrisome but everything went perfectly well. When we arrived at Place Catalunya, it was pretty easy to find our way to the appartment and Mario was already there waiting for us and he helped us to bring the luggages to the 4th floor. As mentionned in previous comments, all those stairs could be a challenge for someone who has some health issue but, for us, it wasn't a problem. Being in the center of the city and so close to the Ramblas and Place Catalunya gave us the opportunity to benefit fully from our stay. We definitely recommend this appartment!!!

The rental unit was very clean and cozy. It was in an excellent location close to all amenities, situated between Las Ramblas and Portal del angels. We were only a 15-20 minute walk from Port Vell and the Mediterranean Sea. Mario was very helpful upon arriving - he carried out luggage upstairs (the stairs may be a bit tricky for some people) and helped us the day we departed as well. We stayed at the apartment for two weeks and it was a great alternative to a hotel. We were extremely happy with our stay at Mario's apartment.

The apartment is really like on the pictures. It's clean, very beautiful and just to feel immediately at home. It isn't very big, but it have everything you need. Although it is in the middle of the old town and near to the Ramblas it is quiet.

I really cannot speak highly enough of this apt- really clean and stylish (just like the photos)- it has everything you need- WiFi, Ipod Doc, washing machine, comfy bed (and some lovely extras like a rainfall shower) and all in a great location. It's right off La Ramblas but on a side street so its not very noisy (a little noise some mornings but you will have a little noise sometimes if you are in a city centre location). Mario was easy to contact and really helpful- he could not have done more to make our stay more comfortable. There is quite alot of steps up to the apt but unless you have mobility issues you should be fine. If you are looking for the perfect base to explore the city stay here! When we come back we will definitely be returning to this apt!

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour chez Mario. L'appartement est bien situé nous n'avons presque jamais pris le métro (dans une petite impasse au calme) et propre avec la clim. La déco est sympa et l'espace est bien aménagé. Le lit et le sofa sont confortables. Seul petits bémols l'appartement est assez sombre et on ne peut pas payer par carte mais il n y a pas de caution à payer...
Nous recommandons cet appartement!! -

L'appartement est idéalement placé à 2 pas de la rambla, bien décoré et surtout très propre, ce qui n'est pas si fréquent que ça. Il est climatisé (indispensable pour dormir!) et silencieux (car dans une impasse)
Mario nous a renseigné rapidement pour la disponibilité et pour notre arrivée.
Notre séjour était parfait.
Nb : c'est au 3ème sans ascenseur, avec un escalier en colimaçon un peu "sportif" -

The apartment is located in the heart of las ramblas, perfect for a tourist visit to Barcelona. The open plan decor and the host of amenities meant it felt like home for the few days we were there and I would definitely rent again.

We had a really great stay with perfect weather and a great location in the gothic area. The apartment is really nice and clean. Everything works, and we were very pleased. It is a bit fare away from the beach, hence the last missing star. But if you are looking for a place, where you can get the amazing atmosphere of the old city - this is the place to pick.

Mario is great. He will e-mail you promptly and give you all the information. When we meet him in Barcelona, he was also great. He explained everything about the apartment, how to use the washer, etc, and then told us a bit about the neighbourhood, like where to get groceries. The apartment is great, very spacious, the decorations are awesome, the kitchen was nice and had everything you will need. There is a full fridge so you have more then enough room. And when we got there Mario had two cold beer in the fridge for us. The location is also amazing. It is right off La Ramblas, but it is quiet! There is also a grocery store in the La Ramblas strip, so it is very manageable. As per other reviews, there are a lot of stairs to the apartment, but it is completely manageable.

This studio apartment is in the perfect location for your stay in Barcelona. It is clean and modern with all of the amenities you need (full kitchen, washer/dryer, etc.) and just the right size for a couple or single person.
Situated in a prime location just off Santa anna, you have quick access to Las Ramblas on one side and Portal d'Angel on the other side (walking distance is within minutes to each).
We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone wanting to rent an apartment in the heart of the city. -

Perfect location. We never had to use the Metro except to and from the train station.
Mario was so helpful, he even helped us with our bags up the three flights of steps.
We loved being out all day, and being close enough to go "home" to get freshened up for the evening.
Washing/drying machine was very useful.
Definitely will stay here the next time we are back in Barcelona. -

Mario is a very nice and friendly guy who speaks excellent English. He is very helpfull and is a man of his word.
The appartment is very nice and ideal for a couple. Altough it may appeal small, everything you need is provided. It is clear that a great deal of tought went into the decorating of the appartment to use the most of the available space. The interior is also quite modern and trendy (smegg refrigirator) It is very well located in the hart of Barcelona between the Rambla, the plaza Catalunya and the old city. So it is a great basis for those who want to discover the city. It is located in a small and very quiet alley, that is kept very clean by the city. Although there is not that many natural light, this must be a positive point in the hot summer as it keeps the room quit cool. This is also ideal for those who are fan of the siesta.
For those who like to cook, the basics (pots, pans, glasses,...) are provided. There is also a supermarket on the Rambla.
I would highly recommend this to everyone, but especially young couples. -

This apartment is in a great location in central Barcelona. It is well equipped and maintained. Mario provided good information about transport and access to the apartment. The steep narrow stairs could be a problem if you are not fit but provide a good workout.

We stayed at Mario's place for 6 nights in May and loved it! Location is the best --very close to everything, right in the middle of the old town, 1-2 minutes walk to La Rambla (you don't want to stay right on it --too noisy). The appartment is on the third floor, no elevators--for us it was no problem, little exercise won't hurt, but it can be a potential problem for elderly and people with special needs. Mario was very helpful carrying our luggage upstairs and downstairs when we were leaving. The appartment itself was nice, clean, modern, has fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer,a/c, free WiFi.
We highly recommend this place and will stay there again when visiting Barcelona.

this apartment in the La Ramblas is in an excellent location, only a 5 min walk from the airport bus, and 1 block off of the main shopping strip. The utilities in the apartment are new and work great. There is also a very busy grocery market across the street.
The only downside to this place is that it can be a little noisy (don't worry one of the Italian ladies that live by will yell out her window telling the loud locals to be quiet!). If you have difficulty with stairs this might also not be your place as the stairs are narrow and steep and the place is on the 3rd floor.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this place to anyone that can navigate stairs, likes to be in the center of the action, and who likes to have a very comfortable place to go back to between sights or shopping. Mario is very helpful, and although he try's to tell you his English isn't very good, he's wrong.

This apt was perfect for our 5 days in Barcelona. The value was great and location was perfect. Mario met us promptly and was very nice. He had a few bottles of water and beer waiting, a thoughtful touch. The street on which the apartment is located has tons of shops and cafes. We had originally hoped to rent an apt with a balcony, and although this one doesn't, you can open the doors on the living room and make your own little balconetta, which was especially nice with a bottle of wine and cheese - we took advantage of the proximity to La Boqueria. We were also pleasantly surprised by the unassuming La lluna Restaurant next door, too, which had a lot of local Catalans when we went. As others have said, the spiral stairway up to the flat was pretty narrow and a few floors up - but not surprising for such a historic building, and not a problem at all. We'd stay there again!

We loved Barcelona, and more so because of this great apartment. Mario was very helpful with great communication before we arrived. He met us at the apartment and helped carry our bags upstairs. The apartment was very clean and tastefully decorated. It was great having a washing machine to wash our clothes, the location was fantastic and although it was very close to the Ramblas it was quiet. The only negative is the narrow spiral staircase to the apartment. For anyone with limited mobility it would be a problem, but on the other hand it adds to the character.

Just come back from a great time in Barcelona. The apartment was lovely, very clean, tidy exactly like the pictures. The bed was extra comfortable, which just made it harder to get up in the morning! This apartment has everything you need and more. As per the other reviews, if you have limited mobility this may not be for you as it has three flights of narrow stairs to get up, but don't let this put you off I can't recommend it enough. The location is also brilliant, very central and close to Plaza Catalunya/Ramblas/Gothic Quarter etc. The owner Mario is also very helpful.
I will be coming back to this apartment and recommend it to my friends.

We were delighted when we arrived to find that our apartment was just as lovely as it seemed in the photos. It's an incredibly convenient location and everything worked great (including very fast wi-fi and loads of hot water for the lovely shower).
Mario was super friendly and helpful. He still had a great big smile on his face even after we called him at 9pm on Sunday evening to inform him that we'd accidentally locked ourselves out (please learn from us not to leave the key in the inside door when you leave - it's very difficult to get back in again even with another key!).
Two things to note - it is on the 3rd floor of some very windy stairs - we were fine but others might struggle. The apartment is slightly on the small side but we actually found this quite cosy and attractive - even after a week!
I would happily return to this apartment on visiting Barcelona again and I would definitely recommend to friends. Thank you Mario for a great stay. -

My husband and I stayed here for a week in august and it was perfect! The other reviews pretty much sum it all up: Mario was super ~ very helpful and accommodating to our departure time; the apartment's location is great; it is clean and nicely furnished...Another plus is that there is a Carrefour supermarket just down Las Ramblas. My only complaints would be the crazy steep staircase and the hot water tank, which would shut off sometimes mid-shower and you have to jump out and push the reset button. Someone commented that there aren't English channels, but if you change the settings using the remote control, some programs are in English.

what a little gem! Mario met us before the sun was even up and gave us the keys to our little place to stay. No lift was made up for by Mario helping with our suit cases. The apartment is tucked way on a little street off the main shopping mall just a short walk to la ramblas. Markets and bars just around the corner. Comfy bed warm quilt and hot shower all made for a great stay.thank you Mario!

The location of the apartment couldn't be better than this! It's near everything: historical sights, shopping, great food, nightlife etc. The best amenity in this apartment is the lighting speed wireless internet connection! Mario was very sweet and helpful :)
On the downside: 1) The apartment is actually on the 4th floor not 3rd. 2) There are no English TV channels in the apartment.

We stayed right off Las Ramblas and only a 5 minute walk to the beach! Mario was also such a great help with our luggage and getting us acquainted with the city.I highly recommend you to stay here and I would definitely stay at this apartment again.

I recently had a seven night stay at this great apartment in October 2011. Mario was a big help at beginning and end. Every aspect of the apartment was perfect for a short stay. It came with all needed appliances, even a washer which came in handy. The apartment had constant hot water and a lovely bathroom. Perfect size for two and would be good for even four people. Only negative aspect would be the stair case and he noisy people from the restaurant below, however these are not a big deal. Mario was great helping with the bags up/down the stair case, and was very friendly. Absolutely loved the stay at the apartment and would recommend this to friends and family.

The apartment in Barcelona is comfortable and convenient to La Rambla. This place is perfect for a short stay in the city. The apartment is tucked into a small side street off La Rambla and is very quiet at night. There is a grocery store right around the corner and it's right in the city center. My only caution is the super steep/winding/narrow staircase. Don't let this scare you off unless you can't climb a few flights of steps (there is no elevator). The bed is comfortable, the washing machine came in handy to do a bit of laundry as we were out of town for 2 weeks and we felt safe in the location. Perfect apartment for 2! Thanks again, Mario! :)

We stayed here during the week of La Merce 2011 and were pleasantly surprised to find how centrally the apartment is located. Mario was excellent and arrived within moments of us texting him that we had arrived early in Barcelona.
The apartment is clean, comfortably decorated with all mod-cons to make the visit convenient.
The thing that surprised us the most is how quiet the apartment is considering it is located so close to La Rambla on one side and Portal Del angel on the other.
The stairs are a little daunting (56 in total and steep) but once you get used to them it's good exercise.
The building is very safe as all residents lock the main entrance at all times. There is a hotel and a restaurant in the street so the place does not feel deserted if you return late at night.

You literally cannot get closer to the heart of Barcelona than this. Not even a full city block off Las Ramblas, you walk out of the place in the morning right into the center of everything. The nearest metro stop is steps away; same thing with the aerobus to the airport on Plaza Catalunya; the Barri Gotic is right there too, along with everything else you'd want. The apartment is on the small side -- but by no means cramped. And Mario keeps it spotless and reasonable price-wise.
The only thing that might be an issue for some is that, as others have noted, it is on the third floor (it would be considered the fourth floor in the U.S.), and the stairs are narrow and a little steep. But all that means to me is I wouldn't recommend it for my grandma. For anybody else, absolutely. I hope to make it back to Barcelona someday, and when I do, I'll try to book this apartment again. -

Our stay at livinglasrambles was excellent. The apartment was clean and even had a washer/dryer. The location was great, very central, close to the Metro and about a 20 minute walk to the beach. Mario was very helpful. It is very easy to get to and from the airport on the aerobus at Plaza Catalyuna. The only surprise was that the apartment was located on the 3rd floor with the only access being a steep winding staircase. If this doesn't bother you then we highly recommend this apartment!

The location, price, and amenities in the apartment were excellent. Just a min from the Ramblas, but so quiet! Kitchen and laundry for a longer stay. Stereo, TV, wireless internet, all there.
Minor negatives: the narrow stairs to get up to the apartment and the fact that the apartment is somewhat dark. -

We knew we were staying very close to Las Ramblas but we ended up being in such a prime location; it was even better than what we expected. The metro entrance and pick up point for the bus tours ended up being a stones throw away! It was very noisy at night but that is expected when staying near the main strip and has nothing to do with this apartment - just an FYI. Never once did we hear the tennants above or below us. We would definitly stay here again as it had everything we needed and more! Images and ammenities listed in description are exactly what you can expect upon arrival. Great place, great price...highly recommended!

Loved this little apartment. Such a cool place right next to everything yet hidden off the main avenues so it's quiet. The owner was very nice and helpful. Everything was modern and clean and safe. Perfect for one person or two. Can't wait to go back and stay there again.

The best location in Barcelona as can get. Only a one minute walk to Ramblas. The apartment was very clean with a modern interior. Great value for the money.

We stayed in the apartment Ramblas/ Plaza Catalunya
while holidaying in Spain and Portugal.
The apartment was exactly what we wanted and more. The location was spot on, so close to everything. The apartment was very clean, well appointed and comfortable.
Mario met us and took us to the apartment. He was very friendly and helpful.
I would absolutely recommend this apartment to anyone and would stay there again.
The only thing which may be a challenge to some is that the stairs are very narrow and there is no lift. No real problem though.
Stay there when you are in Barcelona you will be pleased you did... -

We had a fantastic stay in Barcelona. The unit was very clean and well maintained. The greatest benefit was its position. It was very central to everything; around the corner from the Placa Catalunya, Las Ramblas at the end of the street and a short walk to the market and train stations. Mario met us at the door to hand over keys and give instructions. Highly recommended for a couple

This appartment is very well located but however a little bit small. As you can notice the appartment is located in a very narrow street so it is kind of dark inside. But it is the compromise you have to do if you wish to stay in the old part of the city

This is a nice, clean little urban apartment. It is tucked away in a quiet side street right off the Rambla. It was perfect for me. There is a crazy spiral staircase up a few floors to get to the door, which was only a problem when moving luggage. Overall the apartment met or exceeded my expectations.

He pensado escribirte para decirte que el piso es fantastico aparte de las escaleras, Menor detalje.
El piso es muy bién equipado, centrico y me gustaba mucho. No es la última vez que he estado en él.
En total pasé unos días fantasticos en Barcelona. Tuve la suerte que podría ver a mis amigos que vive en Barcelona y ellos gustaban tambén el piso.

My partner and I stayed at the apartment Ramblas/Palza Catalunya for 5 nights in early September 2009. We had reserved the apartment based on what reviews I could find, but there wasn't a lot to go on.
On arrival, I called Mario from the airport and took the bus to Plaza Catalunya. The apartment is just a few minutes walk from Plaza Catalunya and we soon met Mario, who took us up to the apartment. Be warned that access is by a very narrow spiral staircase, which is difficult with heavy suitcases! However, Mario helped us with them and this little difficulty is nothing compared to what a great place it is to stay!
The apartment is in a little dead-end street and it's very quiet, clean, bright, and modern. It has almost everything you need, though we did have to buy a coffee pot. The location is fantastic: Moments from the Ramblas and just a few minutes from Plaza Catalunya. And just outside, at the end of the dead-end street, is what we found to be the best restaurant we ate at in Barcelona, though it was unfortunately not open every day.
We were very glad we had chosen the apartment for our stay and will use it again if we return to Barcelona, which we hope to at some point.
By the way, although there is undoubtedly much street crime in Barcelona, there is no need to be paranoid about it, just be careful! It's a beautiful and unique city and well worth visiting.
