Sant Martí is a district in the northeast of Barcelona, located just right of Eixample Derecho. It maintains the grid pattern of L'Eixample, in keeping with Illdefons Cerdà's plan for the city's development during the 1900s. Sant Martí is the second most populated area in Barcelona, with many local restaurants, bars, and shops along its streets. Located just north of the Barcelona beaches , it is surrounded by many recent development projects, including the Fòrum and Diagonal Mar neighborhoods. These developments have added a new cultural aspect to the area, with an influx of stylish, recently constructed buildings, hotels, and restaurants. Sant Marti is also known as District 22@, or the innovation district, due to its new business development set to increase leisure and residential spaces in the area.
