Located in the heart of the gothic district of El Borne, this apartment offers guests all they need for a realistic Barcelona experience. It is situated at 40 steps from one of the most famous examples of Gothic architecture in Barcelona: the Santa Maria del Mar church, which overshadows the neighbourhood. Tastefully decorated, comfortable with balcony views of the busy walkways below this apartment will make you visit special.

The area surrounding the apartment:

The Manel apartment is situated literally steps away from one of... Barcelona's most distingushed Gothic churches, the Santa Maria del Mar, in the center of El Borne or Born. The Born district is an intricate maze of narrow, medieval streets where you will find lots of trendy boutiques and great bars, cafés and restaurants. Another option for the visitor staying at this great Barcelona apartment is to visit the Gothic quarter situated right in the heart of the old town and about a ten minutes' walk from the apartment. This is the area that fell within the medieval walls and, until 150 years ago, made up the entire city of Barcelona. The area is a body of interconnecting narrow, cobble stoned streets where you can potter around for hours and explore the shops and restaurants.

The apartment:

The Manel apartment has been decorated to retain the original architectural details combining modern appliances with elegant antiques in a building that dates back many centuries. The original mouldings, exposed wooden beams, but especially the typical shuttered windows give guests the true Barcelona feeling. This first floor apartment is perfect for accommodating a family or group of friends, with two bedrooms and a pullout sofabed.

The Manel apartment is situated on the corner of the building and as such it is surrounded by large wooden shuttered windows. The living room and dining room is accommodated in one large room with a pullout sofabed. The master bedroom has a large double bed with plenty of closet space while the second bedroom houses bunk beds. The beautiful kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, oven, fridge, pots and pans, toaster and all the comforts of home. The spacious bathroom is clean and comfortable with shower, bath and a sink unit which have been newly installed. Please note that the actual toilet is separate to the bathroom. The whole apartment has been tastefully decorated with some rustic and antique furniture pieces.

  Our apartment stay was central and we became a part of the the city not only visitors. Our Business neighbors were friendly and helpful as well as useful parts to our day. Groceries, cooked chickens, spices and advice all useful and appreciated.

  We loved our stay in Barcelona and really enjoyed our stay at Manel. Friendly rentals was easy to find, very accomodating, including our need for English speaking help. The apartment itself was very clean and spacious with all the amentities needed, including fully-equipped kitchen. The location in the middle of El Born is fantastic. Just far enough off the tourist track to feel like you are getting the real Barcelona experience. Great restaurants, bars, shopping, close to Parc de la Ciutadella and walking distance to the Barcelonetta beaches. Santa Cristina market is close by so you can purchase some fabulous seafood and try replicating some Spanish cuisine in your own apartment one night.
  
  All in all this is a very very nice apartment (though not luxurious) in a superb location.

  Beautiful apartment in a hip and friendly area of Barcelona

  The apartment was very nice and clean - but dark. The building was safe and although the location was on a somewhat quiet street, the street behind the apartment had a couple of bars/clubs that were very loud. Bring earplugs. Very centrally located - walking distance to museums and other attractions as well as restaurants and shops. Many well known restaurants and bars actually - which I think makes this apartment a good base if you're interested in this kind of thing. Touristy but still had a nice neighborhood feel - there is a fantasic wine bar on the square in front of the church and a cava bar around the corner. And the church itself is worth a visit.
