Sleeping 12 in 2 inter-connecting cottages, Beltingham House and Cottage are an

ideal retreat for families or a group of friends who wish to retain some

privacy yet be together. The cottages are luxuriously furnished with

one bedroom having a four poster bed and have all modern conveniences

including Wi-Fi and Ipod docking station to make your stay here truly

memorable.

Beltingham is one of Northumberland's prettiest hamlets and is

located in the South Tyne Valley and within easy reach of Hadrian's

Wall, the Northumberland coast and the Lake District. Just across the

river is the village o...f Bardon Mill with village shop and pub, the

market town of Hexham with racecourse and Abbey is 11 miles east,

Newcastle with a wealth of activities for all the family is 23 miles and

Carlisle is 28 miles to the west.

Beltingham House sits on the edge of the hamlet with the same name

and has recently been refurbished to provide luxurious accommodation for

up to 12 people in 2 inter-connecting cottages. This Georgian house,

dating back to 1750, was once owned by the Bowes-Lyon family and the

late Queen Mother and Princess Margaret have both stayed here whilst

visiting Lady Mary Bowes-Lyon.

The cottages have been renovated by the new owner using his wealth

of experience in interior design to provide 3 luxuriously appointed

cottages:- Beltingham House which was the main residence of Lady Mary

and her family, Beltingham Cottage was occupied by the servants and The

Bowes housed the grounds men. The house is set in 5 acres of grounds and

has walking opportunities from the door to Hadrian's Wall and some of

the historic sites including Vindolanda and the National Trusts woodland

of Allen Banks.

Beltingham House

This spacious and luxurious house is centrally heated and comprises:

* Dining room with table under a chandelier.

* Well equipped kitchen with original flagged stone floor,

electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and

microwave.

* First floor: Master double bedroom with King size four poster bed, original Georgian fireplace and en-suite bathroom with hand basin and WC.

* Double bedroom with King size bed, fireplace and en-suite bathroom with hand basin and WC.

* Double bedroom with en-suite wet room with hand basin and WC.

* Double bedroom.

* Bathroom with hand basin and WC.

Beltingham Cottage

Adjoining the main house, Beltingham Cottage is centrally heated and comprises:

* Lounge with feature Inglenook fireplace housing a wood burning

stove, freeview TV, CD and DVD players, radio, I-pod docking station and

French doors lead to a private patio area overlooking the garden.

* Dining/kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and microwave.

* Shower room with hand basin and WC.

* First floor: Double bedroom with hand basin.

* Twin bedroom with zip link beds which can convert into a King size bed and hand basin.

* All cottages have all gas, electric, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi provided.

* Cot and 2 z beds available for children's use.

  The owner was most welcoming and incredibly helpful when we had a problem with the central heating, sending out a plumber early the following morning. The quality of fittings and furnishings is to a very high standard and the beds were exceptional, especially for holiday accomodation. Luckly our party of 10 had the run of all three properties so we were able to use all fridges, cookers and dishwashers. Although crockery and cutlery was in short supply for a 3-course meal as we had to wash up in between courses. However the decor and ambience far made up for this. For our annual get-together the objective is to use the property as much as possible and cars as little as possible and this was easily achieved with a pub being within easy walking distance as was Hadrians Wall and other good walks. A boot/drying room would have been handy as we did return muddy and wet. But we had a fantastic time and the house was a perfect venue - especially all the games provided.
