Great base for Tuscany
Left on 08/26/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We stayed in Bella Vista which is basically a studio apartment with a wet room. Although the room was quite small we didn't feel at all cramped especially as we only really went indoors to sleep or shower (we either ate out or barbecued on our own balcony). The view was awesome from our balcony. The apartment contained everything we needed. The pool wasn't overly big but was perfect for cooling off during the odd pool day. I believe a bigger pool may be planned though. Julia and Tom were great hosts and very helpful with their advice. Max and Sophie were good fun too. Barga is certainly the pick of the towns in this part of Tuscany and is a good base for the coast (Marina di Venacchio is great) and Florence etc. Barga has some great restaurants of which our favourite was definitely al Tana. The town centre is less than 10 minutes walk away.
Will we back? If they'll have us, without a doubt! -

Tom and Julia were very welcoming ,giving information on local amenities etc was never too much trouble. A spacious and well equiped villa with excellent outdoor space too, views were spectacular . Barga is a quiet ,relaxing place situated close to Lucca, Florence and Pisa . An excellent introduction to Tuscanny.

LondonLovely views and position, good hosts.

Tom and Julia were lovely hosts and looked after us when we needed something and gave us an insight into the local area and made some good recommendations.
However the apartment did not have air conditioning and whilst this wasn't a problem in itself, there were no fly screens so when windows were open, we were eaten alive by the mosquitos. We bought a fan in the end, but this did not resolve the mosquito situation. The bathroom was nice but the extractor did not work and I had to empty a humidifier morning and night to make sure there wasn't a build up of moisture. The kitchen was ok but the fridge door didn't close properly on occasions and we had pools of water on our first morning. Once we learned the trick, it was fine. I think that these details are important and effect the comfort of the stay, especially the screens and that for the money, these should have been fixed properly before we arrived. -

The villa is in a beautiful setting with a lovely pool. The accomodation had everything you need. We Loved Barga. The most relaxing holidays we have ever had. Tom and Julia couldn't have been more helpful. Would go back tomorrow!
