Barichara lies in the border of a plateau, 2 and a half hours from the closest airport of Palonegro in Bucaramanga. In the center of Colombia's tobacco producing area and famous Bocadillo or guava sweet industry.
Adventure sports as kayaking, rafting, caves, rappel, horseback riding, etc are available. 90 minutes away from the spectacular Panachi National Park with its magnificent view over the Pescadero river and where you may take a 6.3 km cable car to the Mesa de los Santos is another of the attractions of this area.

Sleepy town during the tourist low season, Barichara welcomes the world traveler seeking solace, repose and quietness. But there is always excitement around the corner, rafting, skydiving, caving and hiking are also available as well a plethora of good eateries. Casa Huarira is a perfect place. Attention to details makes the house a unique delight for those that are looking.

We just rented the Huaira House for 3 nights and had an amazing time here. Not only Barichara really is one of the most beautiful towns in Colombia, the house also holds true to this statement. It reflects the colonial architecture of Spanish times, with Colombian charm and modern day comfort.
Attention with bread in the morning and a bottle of wine to celebrate our arrival were just the icing on the cake.
Completely would recommend it for anyone looking for an incredible experience in Barichara.

My family just returned from a great trip to Casa Huaira. The house is really special. It is a wonderfully and artistically restored old home. The living room, kitchen and main bath are indoor/outdoor which is perfectly suited for the temperate climate in the town. The owner is really friendly and helped with our travel plans. She answered e mails quickly and helped arrange transportation. We travelled each day to San Gil for outdoor activities and travel to San Gil is quite easy. Barichara is a very quaint town which is not as touristy as some websites suggest. Staying at the historic Casa Huaira makes the traveller feel part of this historic town. Casa Huaira was a definite highlight in our Colombia trip.

The person that greeted us was lovely, and the cleaning lady as well. The house is really clean with very confortable amenities. I would repeat if I ever go back to Barichara. Also, the shower of one of the bathrooms is incredible, hot water and no roof. A truly great experience.

We loved the house, the location, the atmosphere. Casa huaira was definitely an excellent choice for price and comfort.
The house was totally cozy and clean, the town is an incredible place to visit with family and friends.
Many activities to do, great places to eat , nice town , friendly people.
Marisa the owner ,and Gloria who helps a lot, were Great hosts.

The housekeeper was gentle and eager to help.
The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It is located in a walking distance from the plaza and many restaurants and shops, yet in a very quiet place.

Very pleasant house with all the things you need to have a wonderful stay. The service is perfect. They are always willing to help you in all your needs.
Te location is two blocks from the "parque" in a very tipical Barichara street.

We stayed at Casa Huaira with our two young children (ages 3 and 1). The house is beautiful and was perfect for our needs, and Marisa and her housekeeper, Gloria, went out of their way to make sure we had everything we need. Barichara is a gorgeous town, and its residents are extremely friendly. We made many friends there during our short stay.

The owner of the house set up everything perfectly for our arrival. We were expected and met at the door. Fresh bread every day was courtesy of the house and very good. The house was beautifully maintained, and the person who helps clean and cook was kind, helpful and organised. The cooking was great! The rooms were clean and tidy and everything thing we needed was there. The owner also sent us a complementary bottle of wine on our first day there...everything, down to the last detail, was just perfect. I'd definitely return there.

We stayed for a 4 day weekend which was absolutely great. The town and people are lovely and unique. The house is decorated beautifully and has all the amenities you need. The beds are sooo confortable. And the open air shower is a treat in that great weather!
It is located 4 blocks from the main center. Near restaurants and shops. My husband and I enjoyed it inmensely and look forward to visiting again for a relaxing vacation. -

After a long and busy time in Colombia and Germany I was looking for a peaceful place to relax. A friend recommended the village Barrichara. She told me it was one of the most beautiful and magic places in Colombia. She was right! I spent a relaxing week walking many paths in and around the beautiful Colonial town. The locals are very friendly. Casa Huaira is a really nice and comfortable house closed to the centre of the town. It has a tasteful accommodation. You can experience some peaceful hours. The owner is an excellent host and a very special person. I have already recommended both Barrichara and the Casa Huaira to some friends and hope to go back myself one day. A fabulous break! "Barichara, the only risk is wanting to stay!?

This is a very comfortable and beautiful house in one of the most amizingly preserved colonial towns of Colombia. We were very satisfied at every level of our experience, from the house itself, to the amazing possibilites of adventure in the vicinity. My family and I experienced the lovely town, great hikes, white water rafting, horseback riding and an amazing trip to the Chicamocha national park. One of our best vacations ever and we have travelled all over the world!

I really love this place! I am from Colombia and have been planning a New Years Trip with my friends from abroad (Canada, us and Sweden). After much thinking and planning I decided to take them to Barichara. I cannot describe their faces when we enter the town and furthermore, when they came into Casa Huaira. They were dazzled (and to be honest, so was I). This is a unique experience. The house is beautiful, comfortable, and in a great area of town. The rooms are spacious and the common areas large and comfortable. The people that arrange the house are also amazing and incredibly friendly. Besides, Casa Huaira is at walking distance from very nice restaurants and places to visit, and far enough from the plaza. Besides, Barichara is like no town you have ever visit! Very much recommended.

We stayed in casa Huaira for 5 nights. The weather was great. This is an open house in which the ceiling is the sky. We could see the stars from the living-room, from the bathroom or the kitchen . The house is cosy, it makes you fell you are at home, the decoration is simple with nice details. It is well taken care of by a very special person who makes you feel at home also.
