Description from the manager

With spectacular views and a host of original features, this comfortable cottage benefits from modern convenience, period charm and is able to sleep up to six people. Situated in a quiet residential cul-de-sac and close to the centre of the pretty seaside resort of Barmouth this lovely stone-built cottage was constructed during the 18th Century. Retaining much of its original character, the property is just a two minute walk from the nearby blue flag beach and has exposed oak beams and stripped oak floors as well as views over the harbour to the beautiful Welsh mountains beyond. With wonderfully diverse paths along the coast and hills, this...Read more

We all had a wonderful week at the end of august at Craig Y Don. The owners were warm friendly and pleasure to meet. Outside the house is a typical Welsh town house and inside it is full of Character. looking out from the house there are impressive views across the estuary and the railway bridge. The only drawback of the place is for some one with limited mobility may have some problems due to steep stairs. Certainly we would go back there again.

On our arrival the owners could not be friendlier. Very helpful and made us very welcome without being intrusive. The home was beautiful with many personal touches that made it a home from home. It really was a gem for our children who loved the house and it's character. The location is a.1. We barbequed on the beach and were able to pop back to the house to collect the things we had forgotten as it was so close. The many walks from the house were breathtaking and the shops/takeaways were all walking distance. Parking for one car and safe for the children. A beautful holiday with many happy memories - we will be back.

The house was lovely, quirky and full of surprising little bits and bobs. Everything we needed and 2 lounge areas was an added bonus.
The owners were friendly and unintrusive but always helpful when we needed their advice.

Left on 12/04/2009 for a stay in April 2009

A warm greeting on arrival and a tour of the house. It was well equipped with plenty of space but not suitable for very young children or the elderly.
Located at the rear of the main high street and a short walk to the shops, pubs, reataurants and the beach.
It was nice to palk the car and not use it again as everything was close by.
Would have liked a washing machine

      Everything you need!!

Left on 12/02/2009 for a stay in September 2009

We had a wonderful week at the cottage in Barmouth. When we first arrived the lady proprietor, who lives on the lowest floor, welcomed us and took us all round the house. She told us where she was if there was anything we needed then left. Apart from meeting her round the town we had no need to call her. Everything we could possibly want was in the house. The family live there during the winter and just leave it as it is when they rent it out so there were lots of personal nick-nacks, books and pictures. This gave the cottage a really homey feel. The heating made the house fell really comfortable too, as we had a couple of rainy days in September. The cottage is situated a very short walk from the beautiful beach, the harbour, the Round House and the little museum, as well as being close to great eating places. The shops are just round the corner, but as the cottage is in a small courtyard there is no traffic noise or shopping bustle. The only problem that there might be with the house is that the first flight of stairs inside is very steep and narrow. This could cause problems for anyone not steady on their feet, but caused us no problems. Our young granddaughter of 2 years managed them very well. The house also has several steps to both front and back doors. When we were leaving the husband of the proprietor offered to run us to the station in his car. As the station is less that 10 minutes' walk away we declined his offer, but thought it extremely generous of him to offer. We would love to go there for a holiday again!!!
