This beautiful, detached stable conversion has been sympathetically restored and offers comfortable and welcoming accommodation for up to four people. This beautiful detached cottage was once a stable block and has been skilfully converted to provide holiday accommodation full of character. The well-equipped kitchen has a real farmhouse feel with its stone floor and large dining table. The handsome fireplace in the sitting room and the exposed beams give the room an inviting quality and with the French windows looking out over the stunning views, the room is light and airy and a fabulous place to relax. The bedrooms are a delight and offer a... calm and restful haven for the end of the day, and there is a super bathroom serving the property. There is a lawn and patio outside making the cottage a wonderful base to be enjoyed all year round.

Amenities: Oil central heating with open fire in sitting room. Gas cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, TV, video. Fuel, power and initial supply of fuel for open fire inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Travel cot available. Secure off road parking for 2 cars. Garden with lawn and patio, which opens onto the surrounding fields. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop 5 miles, pub 20 mins walk (5 mins drive). Note: No children aged 2-6 years (inclusive).

Town: The market town of Barnard Castle stands on the site of an ancient Roman ford in the glorious unspoiled countryside of Teeside. The town takes its name from its 12th Century founder, Bernard de Balliol. The castle was later developed by the Beauchamp family and Richard III, and the ruin of the castle still dominates the settlement, set on a high rock above the town overlooking the River Tees and is well worth a visit. The town itself has lovely cobbled streets and back lanes ready to be explored. The surrounding area is home to some fabulous walking country, with the Pennine Way, Teeside Way and the magnificent High Force waterfalls all close to hand. All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. The "Min. Per Night" prices quoted are based on the weekly rental price, they are not applicable for short breaks. See our short break policy or ask for further details.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  An excellent place to relax in beautiful countryside

  The owners of Grange Cottage, who live in the farm next door, were very welcoming when we arrived and quick to help us with a small problem we had in the kitchen during the week. The cottage is off the beaten track but at the same time within easy reach of Barnard Castle and Richmond, two delightful towns with plenty of amenities. We have friends and family in the Yorkshire Dales and also in the Newcastle area, so the location was perfect for our various visits, as well as for indulging our favourite leisure activity of walking - Swaledale, Wensleydale and Weardale are all easily accessible. The cottage is well equipped throughout, and one of the selling points for us was that it had two bathrooms. It was also lovely to be within sight and sound of the River Tees. The only down side was the lack of mobile 'phone reception inside the house.

  This cottage had everything you could possibly want and in a beautiful setting. Somewhere to relax and an ideal base to go sightseeing from. Would definitely go back.
