      Didn't want to leave...

Left on 03/30/2012 for a stay in March 2012

I was recently blessed with a two week vacation with my two adult children
at Casa Puesta Del Sol. Even though we had seen the picture of the upper
unit we stayed in, our jaws dropped open when we walked up the stairs and
saw it. We kept wandering around saying wow the whole time we were there.
There really are no words to describe the experience of living there
for two weeks. Syd and LaRae were kind, informative and prompt to answer
our questions and needs. The onsite caretakers, Isaac and Lisette, took
great care of us and were never without a smile. We had wonderful
"neighbors" staying in the other units who were equally pleased to be
there. I have been home 3 days and I am ready to go back for longer.

We ate out for about 10-12 meals and cooked the rest of the time. The
fruit/vegetable truck comes a couple times a week and provided most of our
food needs. They also had great eggs. We visited the enramada's daily-if
only to just say hi. The local people were friendly and helpful. We did
take a couple of excursions to Zihuantanejo and Ixtapa. The last week we
were hard pressed to leave Barra de Potosi. Walking that large expanse of
beach daily and sometimes more than once daily was glorious. We
also loved walking the road into the village in the morning with the
chickens waking up and the lazy feel of quiet. It is a wonderful little
village. I hope it remains so.

We spent the last night in the bungalow. It is a sweet place with two full
beds. I don't always sleep soundly and did not particularly want to sleep
with either of my children if I did hot have to. Syd and LaRae went out of
their way to accomodate me. I slept like a baby.

All things considered--a perfect vacation for those of us who appreciate a
slower pace and more of the real Mexico. And beside that, who could ask
for more than that beautiful Pacific Ocean in your front yard?

      Great place!

Left on 11/10/2011 for a stay in April 2011

I have brought my family to this house twice now, and everyone loves it! The location and design of the house are perfect. The beach is beautiful and doesn't have too many people. The shaded area with the hammocks is the perfect place for napping and reading. Just down the beach about a 2 minute walk are some delicious and affordable seafood restaurants (also equipped with hammocks). The caretakers were really friendly and helped us with whatever we needed. The house itself is beautiful and charming; open air enough so you can hear the ocean and feel the breeze but also private and secure. Truly a great place, we can't wait to go back!

Gota love that warm, relaxed tropical living

Left on 11/02/2011 for a stay in February 2011

Great getaway with my sister to escape the cold weather in Canada. So relaxing and the people are wonderful. The warm open living feel is great and your front yard is a sandy beach with the beautiful blue pacific ocean in the background. The eateries are only a short walk to the end of the beach...great food and of course drinks. The owners are just up the beach and are willing to help in any way they can.

A Slice Of Heaven In Paradise

Left on 10/12/2011 for a stay in February 2010

Our stay at Casa Puesta del Sol was more than we ever expected. We rented the 2nd story room. It is huge, open air and looks out to the beach, with palm trees right there in the front. It sits on a long stretch of beautiful beach that you can walk for miles. It's quiet and away from all the hustle of the resorts. The Casa is decorated and supplied with all Mexican ware. Whether we sat inside watching and listening to the sea, or sat out on the beach, we were in Heaven. Sid & LaRae are great hosts and whatever we needed, they took care of. We have already booked our next vacation there, and this time we are staying twice as long!! If you love beautiful, quiet, tropical beaches, we highly recommend Casa Puesta del Sol.

My wife Victoria and I are pleased to suggest a stay at Casa Puesta del Sol , without hesitation. This location is perfect. You will have a short beach walk to the village , with no roosters at night , only the sound of the waves. The upper and lower suites can accomadate two couples or a small family each bedroom with its own bathroom. The rates are very fair and you get more for your dollar than anywhere else we have been in mexico.Syd and La ray are excellent hosts, and do by all means have some meals made up for you on site we were delighted with the result and wished we had done it sooner. There is not a beach location in barra that can beat this one overall..

I need to do this more often

Left on 10/09/2011 for a stay in December 2010

I've been going to Mexico for over 40 years, working my way south as each spot becomes a city. In the late 90"s I ended up in Zhuatanejo and met a couple of girls who told me about Casa Puesta del Sol and I have been going there ever since. This is not a place for people who want Cabo Wabo or disco, this is a place where you want to go to experience Mexico, the beautiful people, the real Mexico. Located south of Zihua it is on one of the most beautiful beaches you might ever find. But first, let me tell you about the rentals, the Bungalow, complete with it's own kitchen, bedroom, shower, etc, good for a couple or with one child. Then there's two rooms that also have there own showers but, share a common kitchen which is spacious and wonderful. Above that is the main residence which was previously Syd and LaRea's the owners of the property. They have since built a new house up the beach, so the upstairs residence is also available to rent. I have at one point or another stayed in all the rentals but the main residence (very good for a family) and they each have their own wonderful charm. Since my first visit, all I have to say is, this is a great place to be. I've walked miles on a beach you would not believe, Kayak on a reserve that is worth a hundred pictures, ate wonder food for the local enramades or just sat all day and read a book. This is a place to decompress and get back in touch with yourself. Syd and La Rea are Canadians who have lived in Mexico forever and for me they are family, the most wonderful gracious hosts you could ever find. During my stays I've had the joy of meeting some of the most wonderful people you might find, all who have all come to experience this beautiful location for the same reason, memories abound. I've been taking a journal ever since I've been going to Mexico and in all my entries about Casa Puesta del Sol, they say, "you need to do this more often".

We went to Casa Puesto del Sol three times in the last two years and always had a great time. It's a perfect place for a family. The house is original and very comfortable, right on the beach, in a beautiful bay. The owners are great and always available if you need anything.
