Quiet, Clean, Comfortable on 'quiet side' of MDI

Left on 07/06/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Spent 6 days/nights at Joan's place in Bass Harbor and it was just as we had hoped. Away from congestion and 'touristy' Bar Harbor but close enough to acadia Nat. Park and even to Bar Harbor for daytime activities when we wanted that. Beautiful working harbor within a few steps of this rental; lots of photo ops. Got to see annual "lobster boat races" in inlet to harbor one morning. Owner lives on other side of this renovated, older home but we almost never knew she was there...very respectful of our privacy; place was very clean, very well equiped. Nice shower/bathroom with lots of comfy towels. While we are a couple in our later 50s and it was just the 2 of us, would have been perfect for a family or pair of couples; plenty of room.
Bass Head lighthouse, National park's 'wonderland' and 'ship harbor' trails to shore about 3 minute drive away. Having rental car was important as we did a lot of hiking in park (despite the rain).
Only two small places to eat in Bass Harbor itself and had very good seafood/lobster meals at each on different nights. Drove to SW harbor, 2 Cats in Bar Harbor and across harbor to Bernard (Thurston's) for other memorbable meals.
Have been home only a week and check for refund of our deposit has already arrived. Owner was also flexible with our required dates when we booked. Would definitely stay here again when in this area. Thank you, Joan.

      Wonderful place and location

Left on 08/06/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We spent a week here in July at the height of the "heat wave"--most days were in the low 80's! The house has been carefully redone, and redone well. The bathroom was large, the kitchen had nice appliances, and the two bedrooms were quite nice as well. The washer/dryer was perfect, and we were thrilled to also have a grill. Bass Harbor was a tiny little town, so it was great to have the opportunity to let the teenagers wander around with no fears, and we were a short drive away from the main sights. We were able to get lobster from the owner's son at a great price as well!

All in all, a great selection and even the jaded teenage girls admitted they'd liked the house and the town.

Wonderful vacation rental - beautifully decorated and great view

Left on 07/24/2011 for a stay in July 2011

This quaint little cottage sits perched above Bass Harbor. The house is decorated in a warm and fun fashion, with plenty of necessities like towels, washer and dryer (great on vacation) and well stocked kitchen for cooking utensils. Only a short drive from Bar Harbor, the location is ideal for those who prefer the quiet side of the island.

      Wonderful sunsets, wonderful vacation rental

Left on 10/23/2010 for a stay in September 2010

We visited acadia for the first time in Sept and knew nothing of the area but thought we might like the quiet side of the island. It was a great decision and we were not disappointed in our choice. The rental is a completely renovated half of a vintage home. Nicey decorated, very clean and lots of room. The sunset view of the harbor was beautiful and we were within walking distance of a seafood outlet and restaurant. Short drive to park sights and Bar Harbor. Our rental was a big part of a great vacation experience.
