Luxurious, convenient accommodation and parking!! Brilliant!
We have just had a wonderful break visiting our daughter in Bath. The Loft was very well placed for an easy 10 minute walk into the City and all the attractions. The Loft itself was very comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed. It was furnished to a high standard and was spotlessly clean. The extras, sherry, chocolates and also essentials like salt, pepper, tea, coffee and washing supplies were all there, not always the case when staying self catering. The parking space was a godsend as driving and parking in Bath can be a challenge! We will definitely return.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay.
The Old Smithy Loft is indeed handy so all the sites are within easy walking distance. Sydney Gardens are pretty too and there is the new exhibition of Picassos on at the Holburn just down the road...amidst the Gainsboroughs...well worth a visit and the cafe is good too.
Very best wishes Ann
Lovely 2 nights in Bath
Lovely place, first thing that was noticed was how clean everything was, nice clean modern decor and everything you would need, complimentary sherry was a plus. Very good location too, not directly in city center but within a very nice 10 minute walk away.
Luxurious and Very Comfortable
Beautiful apartment, fabulous comfortable bed, luxurious linens. Perfect in every way. Highly Recommended.
Excellent appartment and Excellent location !
We were four ladies visiting Bath from Edinburgh for the first time, the appartment suited our needs completely. The location is lovely and peaceful and just a short walk to the town centre. Ann the owner gave us some great recommendations on places to eat and Ian put us in touch with James, a local chauffeur service who looked after out transfers from and to Bristol airport we would highly recommended his service.

We declined writing a negative opinion in the Visitor's book and also on Booking.com where we originally booked this accommodation contacting the owners directly out of respect. However when they replied to our email, no answers were given and no apologies offered! On arrival at the premises and having prepaid our four night stay, we used the code we had been given to enter but arriving an hour earlier than the designated check-in we took the liberty of going in only to find the place hadn't been cleaned from the previous clients. We rang to be abruptly told "you shouldn't be in there". We asked to leave our car which was okayed and we returned several hours later. The toilet didn't appear to have been cleaned and Ms Stewart mentioned that they use yellow bleach which we may not be familiar with - but we do know a soiled toilet!! The 'welcome basket' promised was missing and we were under the assumption we had paid for the entire apartment but the second bedroom was locked. We were so looking forward to our stay in Bath and our reception on arrival was not ideal however the apartment is well-appointed, very comfortable and in quite an easy walk to the city centre.
Very lovely accommodation about half a mile walk from the centre. Very comfortable beds, clean and well equipped.
A wonderful apartment with everything you could wish for. Tv and DVD players in each room, a fully stocked kitchen for a cosy night in, clean and hygienic
There is lovely décor with great little touches including a decanter of port!

Great location and very stylish apartment - just what we expected.
We felt like we had stayed at a friends home...no check-in/check-out required - just leave-it as you found-it!!
Heaven on Earth
I've stayed in a couple of self-catering apartments but none like The Old Smithy Loft. The owners have attended to every detail to make the guest feel welcome and the stay comfortable. The place is luxurious, clean, quiet, refreshing, spacious and they have spared no expense making it feel like home. This is the best experience I've ever had and I can't wait to go back again. What a treat! What a gift! And quite the blessing after a long day of travel to flop into the comfy beds and rest up for the glorious sites in Bath. I am so grateful for this lovely accommodation and these lovely, considerate owners.

The old smithy loft was exceptionally clean. Everything you need for a luxury stay in beautiful bath. Cannot think of one negative thing to say, all the little extras made our stay wonderful . Even down to the welcome pack. Many thanks. We will definitely be returning.

Prefectly placed for Bath city, spacious and chic. everything yo
I absolutely love the Old Smithy Loft. I have booked the apartment for the last 2 year and have booked again for next year. It is so comfortable, stylish, very clean and beautifully decorated. There are some extra touches like coffee/tea, bread, butter, milk and for me Chocolate brownies on arrival. The apartment is perfectly place for a lovely walk into the city without the use of Bus or Taxi. There is also off road parking which is the icing on the cake. I feel the Old Smithy has become my second home, as I come to Bath at least 3 times a year.
I never want to leave. Bath is an amazing city, so too is this apartment. You will not be disappointed. Thank you ann
All round fantastic place to stay. Apartment was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. The provision of a welcome basket featuring milk, orange juice and croissants was a welcome touch. Location is perfect in relation to Bath city centre, about a ten minute very pleasant walk to the shops and restaurants. Easy access via keypad made the experience of checking in and out - if it could even be called that - a breeze. All in all we can't wait to return next year and would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Bath.
A perfect peaceful weekend in Bath
We have just returned from a perfect weekend staying in Bath at the Old Smithy Loft. I booked after reading great reviews but the loft was even better than we could have hoped for. Tastefully decorated, modern yet cozy this is a perfect base from which to explore Bath. Situated on a quiet street next to the river and a short 15 min stroll into the town centre.
Fully equipped kitchen, clean modern bathroom with great shower. You can really tell that the owners take pride in this place and care about the people that stay there. There is a wealth of information available in the living room to help you enjoy your stay in Bath, and the parking and keypad access make it a completely stress free stay.
I would not hesitate to recommed the loft to anyone planning a visit to Bath, it is much nicer than any hotel. I hope to return soon and will definitly rebook The Old Smithy Loft!
Wonderful apartment, truly a home from home
Stayed at The Old Smithy Loft from 28th august to 1st September 2013 to attend the Special Olympics being held in Bath. My daughter was competing with the North West Region Badminton Team.
On arrival very pleased with all aspects of apartment, well presented and so comfortable. Lots of lovely little extras that truly made our stay a home from home. It was wonderful to relax properly after being at the Games all day, so much nicer than being in one hotel room.
As I said previously lovely touches, such as sherry and sweets, plus everything needed for light breakfast. The shower and bath were first rate and the bed was very comfortable. Everything provided was top notch and will be contacting ann again to book for next year with my daughter as I have told her so much about the apartment and the icing on the cake was that my daughter won a silver medal in the ladies doubles at the Special Olympic Games.
The old smithy loft was very modern and comfortable ,only 10 minutes walk from Bath city centre, the walks along the canal and river are lovely and all in close proximity, correspondence with the owner is excellent they are willing to help with any questions .i cannot falt this apartment would stay there again.
Lovely apartment in a quiet location
The 2 bedroom apartment was beautifully furnished and well equipped. Situated a pleasant stroll from the Bath city centre the location was quiet. There were four of us and the apartment was sufficiently large that we could all comfortably sit in the living room or eat together at the dining room table. It was up a flight of stairs but compared to other places we have stayed they were straightforward to get luggage up and the car was parked right outside the door. Extra little touches like milk in the fridge and books on Bath to look at where appreciated.
A delightful place to stay to conveniently enjoy the best of Bat
Booking the Old Smithy Loft was easy and it fulfilled all expectations.
It is beautifully appointed with every attention to detail and comfort. A lovely light and bright atmosphere with all necessary utensils for eating in as well. Loved the décor too.
The location is perfect for a short walk into the centre of Bath with the ideal convenience of being able to park the car outside the property, as parking in Bath is a nightmare. There are plenty of great places to eat within walking distance and a little local supermarket for supplies.
A really delightful place that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and hope to go back to if visiting Bath again.
Least liked the slightly tight car parking space which may be a challenge for a large car but very grateful for parking at all.
Good location. The loft is very clean, stocked with everything you need for a short or extended stay. Nicely decorated and very comfortable.
Stayed at The Old Smithy Loft and my only complaint is that I didn't stay long enough... A lovely apartment, beautifully furnished and very comfy beds. Its a beautiful walk down to the centre of Bath and the walks on the canal tow path are really close-by too. All-in-all we had a lovely weekend and we will definitely be back. Thank you

Just read your review in detail re The Old Smithy Loft. First of all thank you for taking the time to write. But just to mention there is a DVD player in the TV so if you do come again and I hope you do you will find it there.
Tranquil haven close to town
wonderful home from home accommodation, so close to town but just far enough away for peace and quiet. first class furnishings, clean, comfortable, lots of thought given to little extras like sherry and cake, would highly recommend and parking at the door bonus too, would definitely return next time in bath.
Fantastic, condition and location - highly recommend
stayed with a few friends for a long weekend golfing and touring Bath. Could not have found a more wonderful location than the Old Smithy Loft and was delighted with the quality of the property. Really is in excellent condition and we would definitely go back and recommend to others. 10 minute walk into town and private off-road parking (one of the most important factors). Read more
Response from Ann Stewart - 06/17/2013
The Old Smithy was my first venture into providing holiday accommodation and I am delighted that it has struck such a chord. Had not thought of Bath as being a golfing centre but of course Sham Castle Gold Club is only 5 minutes up the hill...and you can walk to the Abbey in 10 so all in all a good centre for that. I look forward to welcoming your friends or indeed yourself again. Best wishes Ann
Stockton on Tees
great place to stay
clean, comfortable and really well equipped apartment with a parking space, just a short walk to the centre of town. Lots of little luxury touches -the welcome pack & flowers were appreciated. Tesco Express is really handy for provisions, but there are plenty of cafes, restaurants & pubs nearby if you don't want to cook for yourself.
The lounge, diner, kitchen is fairly compact & open plan, but the seating is really comfortable & you are provided with everything you might need.
Overall top class accommodation & I'd certainly stay here again if i return to Bath.
luxury apartment with every home comfort within walking distance
A beautiful two bedroomed apartment with private off-road parking in a quiet location but within easy walking distance of local amenities, which include a well stocked tesco direct and beautiful florists, and city centre. The property was spotless and in immaculate decorative order. Attention to detail was evident everywhere. Beautifully co-ordinated interior furnishings, fresh flowers and even a welcome decanter with sherry! Lots of suggestions for places of interest and local eateries were collated in a useful file to save a trip to tourist information. There was not a thing I could fault and would return in a heartbeat!!

Home away from home
The Old Smithy Loft is truly like finding a home away from home. It has all the conveniences, great style, furnishings and comfort of a home yet it is located wonderfully in a quiet section of Bath. Easy walks to great shopping, restaurants, and Roman Baths. I'm telling all my friends about it!
Beautiful apartment centrally located
Individual classically styled serene apartment centrally:
- centrally located in historic Bath.
Ideal for a romantic break.

Bath is a wonderful place to visit, wonderful sites, shops & eateries. The Old Smithy Loft made the experience even more wonderful. We will definitely be back for another dose... The description of The Old Smithy included en suite bathrooms, there is only one bathroom. (2 double bedrooms).
A beautiful and comfortable place to stay
A tastefully furnished, clean and very comfortable loft in an ideal location.
Only a ten minute stroll to the centre of Bath and lovely and quiet at night with no traffic noise!
Admirable attention to detail and my daughter very much enjoyed the novelty of having a television in her room.
We wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Smithy to all discerning travellers.

The flat was perfect, cozy and quiet with everything nearby.
We loved the flat-there were three adults-all very comfortable and cozy-weather was cold so it was nice to have good heat. The kitchen is fabulous-all new and easy to work in-we ate lunches out and dinner in which worked out well-it took a little time to become familiar with tha appliances-never really figured out the dishwasher-perhaps a few more simple instructions would help-lovely touches with sherry and sweets and flowers to greet us-also a good parking spot for the car. the location was superb-near to all in Bath but quiet for sleeping.
Lovely place to stay.
The apartment was a superb base for our 4/5 day stay in Bath. The location was very good. Just 10 minute walk from the city centre. We arrived at the apartment in very cold weather, but the apartment was cosy and welcoming. There was an arrival package of essentials, ie bread, milk, jam and a glass of port, which went down well and a nice touch. We arrived early (check in 16:00hrs) but received a text to my mobile telling me that the room was ready for occupation, this was at 14:30 hrs and again another nice touch.
The apartment itself was comfortable, clean and had everything we required for our 4 day stay.It had a super king size bed in the master bed room , which was very comfortable, their is a second bed room which too had a good size double bed. There was a lot of information about Bath, what to do and where to eat, which we used. On the whole, when we go away on city breaks, we do like to stay in apartments instead of hotels (we do not like to be tied down by breakfast times etc), this apartment is up their with the best apartments we have stayed in. Iwould recommend the apartment to anyone wishing for a comfortable break in Bath.
Stylish Private and Yours
A short walk from the centre, a hidden gem. The owners have this apartment in pristine condition. two bedrooms, lounge and kitchen all to yourself. Basics provisions provided for you and a sweet sherry to warm you up! Worth every penny. See you soon
A Truely amazing apartment
The moment I stepped into The old smithy loft. I was blown away by the eye to detail of the design and feel. It was really such a well put together place. With little hidden delights. I had booked the place for Valentines Day for me and my fiancee. And boy did this apartment the experience. Roses were in a vase when we got there, which gave me even more brownie points. It's so close to bath centre too, so you can go out on adventure sight seeing and then be back for lunch. Great kitchen more than enough features to cook any dish we thought up. I couldnt recomend more if you want to stay in bath in style and comfort.

Home from home
We visited for two nights in snowy January and found this to be a supremely warm, comfortable bolt hole. Having Tesco Metro round the corner and the restaurants and shops of the centre of Bath just a stroll away, made this a really convenient spot. (No steep hills to worry about in the ice!)
It's equipped with everything you might need, the key code access makes arrival and departure quick and simple and the nibbles provided were a great touch.
We'd stay again - much more relaxing than a hotel. Read more

The weather has certainly been testing this year so far but am v pleased you enjoyed The Old Smithy which as you say is an excellent bolt hole. Do look at the Visit Bath website for all the info on what is happening and Bath ..and there is a lot. Best wishes Ann
Brilliant location, clean, comfortable and with everything you could possibly need. Highly recommended!
Perfect cosy hideway in Bath
We spent a wonderful 3 days at the loft over the xmas period. It was a lovely surprise to find a decanter of Port/Sherry on our arrival and as well as the basics such as milk and bread and more importantly Brownies. The apartment was fantastic - very modern and superbly furnished. The pictures do not do it justice. The loft was within walkiing distance of the main sights and the shopping centre. It is advisable to get a taxi if you have luggage. I loved the apartment and can't think of anything negative to say, apart from my stay was too short!! I will be back. Read more

I look forward to welcoming you again. The Loft has only been open for visitors for 6 months so your response was very encouraging. If you are planning on coming for any special event, it would be wise to book early. See visit bath.co.uk Best wishes
Home from Home
We are really glad we chose this flat for our recent stay in Bath. It was comfortable, beautifully appointed and within 15mins walk to the abbey. A welcome pack including milk, bread, butter and tea/coffee as well as sherry and home made nibbles was just a lovely surprise.Anyone staying here will be sure to enjoy their visit.
A real gem - luxuriously furnished and in an ideal location
We love this place - a luxurious oasis, perfect for a romantic weekend treat in the beautiful city of Bath. It's a few minutes walk into the city centre, which is perfect. Quiet road with no traffic and a parking space.
The second bedroom means it's also ideal for a family or two couples.
This was our second visit and I wondered if the number of guests in the intervening 5 months would have lead to some wear and tear, but it is absolutely wonderfully maintained.
The decor, fixtures, fittings, furnishings and bed linen are all of great quality and tastefully done throughout. There are too many extra little touches to mention all, but the welcome pack of bread, butter, milk, cakes and sherry along with a supply of tea bags and coffee take the stress out of arriving late and the shops being closed.
Fully equipped kitchen again with lovely fittings and top quality appliances, no silly half-sized stuff. You'd have no trouble living here for weeks - it would be an absolute delight. We will definitely return (again) and would thoroughly recommend. It's also worth noting that the owner is also extremely helpful, so all in all fantastic. I wouldn't bother trying to find anywhere else to stay in Bath. The Old Smithy Loft is close to perfect! Read more

Hi Jeremy I am delighted you enjoyed yourself so much that you wanted to come back again. It was a real treat for me. Your comments are very flattering. There is so much going on in Bath all the time worth looking up the various activities with the Bach Festival in February, Music Festival in June , Jane Austen in September , Mozart in November and of course the Christmas Market in Nov/Dec.
Do come back again. Best of the festive to you both.....Ann
Excellent position, lovely apartment, offroad parking

Stunning apartment, Fantastic location in Bath City Centre
This apartment is stunning and so centrally located with less than a 10 minute walk to the centre of Bath. Everything you could need is in the apartment and it is beautifully furnished. The Old Smithy Loft is an absolutely lovely two bedroom self catered apartment - the attention to detail is outstanding! It's a short, 10 minute walk from the center of Bath. It was incredibly clean and comfortable and terrific value for money.
Highly, highly recommended!!
very thoughtfully appointed
i recently stayed in the old smithy loft for four nights. the apartment is recently renovated and has been very thoughtfully appointed with everything one might require during a short stay. whilst there are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity, it is only a 10 minute walk into the centre of bath. the owner is not living on site but was easily contactable whenever we had questions. there is a tesco express within a two minute walk and a well equipped kitchen.

Quality at the Loft.
Traveling from australia, I was looking forward to staying at The Old Smithy Loft, Bath. The website photos did not disappoint, and were exactly as shown.
A great location with a Tesco Express around the corner, and a ten minute walk to the City, and a Waitrose store (one of my favorites).
The quality of the furniture etc,is excellent and the welcome pack is a bonus. Plenty of TVs in the Loft and WiFi is good,
just park your car and discover Bath by foot.We would have liked to stay more than our two days ,but we had to move on.

Wonderful - Chic, Stylish - Home from home
Wow, what can I say. The Old Smithy is a wonderful place. it is beautifully decorated - chic - stylish, with a touch of elegance but also has a homely feel. I felt right at home here. There was a welcoming gift of Flapjacks and Brownies and for those of you who like Sherry, that too. It was lovely to have Tea/Coffee to hand with fresh milk, bread, butter and Jam for the weary traveller. There is a Tesco express around the corner to stock up with. The rooms are superbly equipped with little extra personal touches. All the amenities you could ask for. The Icing on the cake for me was being able to park the car right outside the front door. The cottage is covenient to town, only a short walk away. A lovely location. Sidney Gardens is just down the road or if you fancy a walk along the canal, that too is just around the corner. I thoroughly recommended staying here. I fell in love with this place. I have booked it again twice next year. A weekend in april and 10 days in Sept.

Wonderful "home away from home"!
This was the best place we stayed anywhere! Everything was new and good quality, including furniture and appliances. Especially nice was the personal touches, such as the owner's welcome note and some of her favorite sherry! Since the apartment was the only one in the building, it felt very private. It was a short walking distance to the center of Bath - very convenient. The parking space was small, but at least we didn't have to find parking on the street! Charming, newly renovated and convenient location - terrific
We were travelling from australia and expected to view water from the address "Sydney Wharf", so we got a bit lost, however once we located Smithy's Loft we were delightd with the lovely newly renovated, upstairs self contained unit. Lots of room and beautifully appointed - this place was created with class and a lot of love - just like a home away from home.Anne and Ian were exceptionally helpful and friendly. They are not on site, however when we had questions they were both easy to contact.
Idyllic retreat in the heart of the wonderful city of Bath
I can't praise The Old Smithy Loft enough. I stayed here in Bath for a nice weekend away with a few girlfriends. The decor and furniture are modern however still in keeping with the quaint 'englishness' of the property. The location is ideal as it is only a ten minute stroll into the heart of Bath - great for the shops and for evening dinner and drinks. The property was immaculate and it was evident the owner took alot of time and care into providing an ideal base for visitors. The service was spot on via emails etc.On arrival some lovely produce to get started i.e. bread milk tea coffee even truffles with half decanter of port...wonderful.the location was great as it was a ten minute walk from the city centre which we loved as we escaped the traffic noise tucked away down the lane. There is a tesco express two minutes away for groceries and beer and wine ,no need to move the car at all once you arrive at the old smithy lodge. The best thing was the quality of everything at the loft ,bedding ,towels etc.the worse thing was we had to leave. We would chose the loft over any b&b; when we visit Bath again.
Highlight accomodation of our trip!
Ann made us feel so incredibly welcome. The "home" is beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable. There was nothing else needed!!!
Compared to our previous and then following accomodation, we were totally spoiled at The Old Smithy
Not cheap - but definitely worth it! Cannot rate it highly enough
Make sure you stroll along the canal locks just behind the Old Smithy; waste a half day at the Thermae Spa; and head to the Huntsman Pub for the evening Comedy Walk. Not on the same day - take several days.
Bath is stunning - make sure you choose this accomodation to suit...
Fantastic - would recommend to anyone.
We had a great weekend staying at The Old Smithy Loft as a family. It is beautifully presented and very thoughtfully equipped with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, iron, TVs in both bedrooms etc. It is clearly owned by somebody who wants the guests to feel at home from the moment they step foot inside...
The walk to the centre of Bath is lovely, so there is no need to worry about driving anywhere once you have parked up in the space provided, immediately adjacent to the property.
We will be back.
Cosy and relaxing experience
It was modern clean and all appliances and kitchen equipment needed
With easy walking distance to town and close to bus routes
We liked the way everything you needed was there and very homely
