BerkshireLovely night's stay
Left on 01/11/2013 for a stay in December 2012
I stayed here for the night with some friends of mine. The barn was in a beautiful location in the countryside, surrounded by fields. The building looked very pretty and had a nice modern touch inside with lovely interior decor and a warm fire to go with it. The bed in the master bedroom was the comfiest bed I have ever slept in and I could have spent all day in the shower. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it strongly.

A very warm and comfortable house on one level in a peaceful location. Very well equipped and plenty of space. This was perfect for exploring and discovering a lovely part of Somerset. We came here to conduct some family history research and alex was extremely helpful! Locating the property using sat nav and picking up key to property was simple.

We've just come back from 2 nights at St Edmund's stables where we had a really lovely few days. The accommodation is spacious, clean, well equipped and very comfortable. In a perfect, rural spot, but close to Bath too for an easy day trip.
Hope to be back -

Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We stayed at St Edmund's Stables from 11th august 2012 to 15th august 2012.
It was extrememly easy to locate with the help of our sat nav. The location was excellent, being away from the busy city but close enough to the little villages around the area.
The property was well equipped and perfect for a relaxing getaway holiday. We spent lazy afternoons under the sun in the terrace and made full use of the BBQ pit and the kitchen amenities.
The 2 double bedrooms were both comfortable and the fact that there was an ensuite bathroom/shower and another bathroom was useful.
Many thanks to alex who we saw on the day we arrived- thanks for ensuring that we had a lovely stay and for your help with the Wifi connection.
We would definitely recommend this property and would look forward to staying there again in the near future! -

We booked St. Edmund's Stables on a whim with little idea of where we would find outselves. We couldn't have been more delighted with the area or the accommodations. The layout is spacious and the welcome basket the best we've ever had - homemade bread and eggs from the owner's chickens (their names were on the the eggbox and they wandered into the garden while we were there), coffee, tea and wine. The cooking utensils and appliances were top of the line.
And we couldn't have been happier with the contrast to beautiful but very busy Bath. Yes, you will need a car if you stay here but we loved coming back to the stables. And the best surprise of all was walking into the villages of Vobster and Wells (the fish and chips in the pub, which also served more upscale choices, was excellent.
We highly recommend that you stay here. -

Lovely accomodation - high quality fixtures and fittings and all the mod cons to make life easy when travelling with a family. All made for a very relaxed weekend!
Very nicely presented with some nice touches such as the welcome hamper and a fire in the log burner built all ready to light.
A really nice part of the country with lots to do, we would like to return again for a longer stay at some point. -

Left on 11/14/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We booked the property for a short weekend break and it was perfect for our needs as a small family of four. The property itself is wonderful, clean and stylishly decorated. There were books and dvds available which we found a great touch for something to do in the evenings. The only slight disadvantage is the location which we found quite isolated.

What a fabulous experience. I booked this as a half way between Bristol (which I flew in to) and Bath (where I was attending a wedding.) The accommodation was versatile enough for a group of friends for the first 2 nights and a relaxing final night for my husband and myself. The location is quite remote, which is very relaxing. We had no worries about arriving late and having no food etc as alex had all of the basics waiting...you know what I mean..bread, butter, milk and...wine (2 bottles). We lit the stove and settled in immediately. The ambiance was brilliant, the rooms spacious, immaculate and all mod cons. We absolutely loved it. Alex was on hand if we needed anything but otherwise totally unintrusive. Definitely would love a return visit in the summer to fully enjoy the patio and BBQ.

This accommodation exceeded expectations. Not only was it spotlessly clean and well appointed, but it was also so warm with the lovely underfloor heating. One was made to feel welcome with a generous hamper on arrival. The host was helpful and courteous. Good place to stay if you would like to keep your carbon footprint low, but not at the expense of comfort!

What a brilliant find. We were there on and off for 4 months whilst our house was being repaired following a fire. Nothing is too much trouble for alex. Its peacefull, yet near civilisation, plenty of local walks if you are up for it. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

A big thank you to St Edmund's Stables for our family holiday this year. We had originally planned to stay in Somerset for just one night, to visit Longleat with our children. But on looking at the St Edmund's website and speaking to alex and his wife, we increased our booking to three nights. And within hours of actually arriving, we had enquired about a fourth night, but it was not to be, purely due to availability. The Stables are decorated and furnished to a high standard - I would say that it felt like a home from home, but our house isn't a patch on it! We arranged to use their travel cot for our youngest, which was already assembled on our arrival, and a highchair was available too. I do have one small point to make for families with toddlers not yet able to go down steps on their own. There are split level floor areas (one small step) where double doors lead out to the garden, from the living area and master bedroom, around which we had to keep an eye on our 18-month old. I hate to point out anything negative, as the Stables really don't deserve it. Everything else was faultless. So book now!

We booked a last minute short break with friends for a New Year getaway and couldn't believe our luck with this fantastic find! It is beautiful, spotless, brand new and very good value for a luxurious self catering cottage. A lot of thought has gone in to making a stay here incredibly comfortable. The cottage is perfectly located for a country break but you won't get bored - there are loads of scenic walks from the front door, either to nearby villages and pubs or over the fields to admire the Mendips. Vobster is also very close to Bath, Bradford on avon, Glastonbury and Frome for day trips. Then again the cottage is so comfortale you might not want to leave! Alex is a great host - right there if you need anything but also entirely unobtrusive so you can just get on with enjoying your holiday. We can't wait to go back in the summer!

Had a 5 day break with the family, booked last minute was just perfect. The owner was just next door to help with any queries. Welcome tray was also excellent with a variety of goods to save having to find the local shop straight away. Ideal base for exploring the area or just stay and enjoy the secluded location. Immaculate new conversion, look forward to a longer stay next time.

We adored this property which was private, spacious, spotlessly clean and luxurious. The lay out was very safe and practical for a family (we have two young children). We used it as a base to explore the area with Bath, Longleit and Glastonbury all within easy reach for great family days out. I would recommend it without hesitation.
