KentLovely weekend away
Left on 02/18/2013 for a stay in February 2013
The house was even bigger than looked in the pictures, nice and comfortable bedrooms.
Kitchen was great for preparing large family meals.
Lounge in attic space was really good for relaxing and playing games.
Location is right on main road - you can hear traffic a bit but blocked out pretty well by double glazing. Quick and easy way to get into bath city.
Spiral stairs into attic means you need to be a little careful if elderly family members. -

We have just recently returned from our stay at the Gate House in Bath and can only say that this holiday rental has everything you could ask for. All amenities are provided and no short cuts have been taken. Everything is of the highest quality. We just loved the living room upstairs.. very relaxing space.
The welcome basket is very much appreciated having been traveling for a considerable amount of time. Definitely, try the Shire End Farm eggs as they are just delicious.
The only thing we can say is that there is a bit of noise from the road but, that is completely outweighed by the how great the property is. It Is also only a 5 minute drive from Bath, in which Shire End have a parking permit. The parking space is well located and is very handy as you don't need to drive around trying to find parking.
Lastly, we have to thank Charlotte for showing our little two year old the pigs and the chickens. Despite seeing the lions and tigers in Longleat, our little one did not stop talking about the chickies and the piggies!
Thank you again for a lovely stay. -

Excellent property, one bedroom very cold, but owner is fitting extra radiator. The busy road makes it a very noisy location, but the standard of the property and linen etc are superb.
Highly recommended if you are two couples...
A massive bonus if you arrive by car, is the complimentary parking space in the middle of bath. a wonderful weekend location for the christmas period, for example.
Internet works well all over the property.
Bring your sky viewing card if TV is important to you !Response from Jan Mckenty - 05/22/2012

Extra radiator now fitted in second bedroom so no need now for thermals!

The accommodation provided was excellent. In particlar the beds were exceptionally comfiortable. Our only possible negative was that we had a slight issue with noise from the road. The car park in town was fantastic and we used it every day. A great place to stay if you want to be out of the city centre.

Cambridge, UKBeautiful barn, warm welcome
Left on 10/06/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We stayed two nights for a graduation in Bristol. The barn is easy enough to find on the a46 out of Bath, note that the property isn't in the town centre as suggested by the map on the website, so I'd recommend arriving by car. A parking space in the city centre is included with the rental.
We were given a warm welcome and can recommend the farm's own eggs for breakfast. The rooms were clean, warm and comfortable. A lot of effort has been made to provide books, videos and games on site, and there is a big pack of ideas for exploring the local area.
Cheaper than hotel rooms, and a much nicer experience.

Left on 09/27/2011 for a stay in April 2011
We had a good experience with the property from the moment we made contact to book. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised by how modern and comfortable the barn was - excellent kitchen, two bathrooms, very nice upstairs lounge. The main road is very close to the side wall but the traffic noise was bearable. Bath is two minutes down the road and Stonehenge a short drive through the country. Happy to recommend.

After receiving a warm welcome, and welcome food basket to get us started, we were able to kick back and relax in this wonderful accomodation. Very spacious, lovely layout, and incredibly clean. The kitchen was well stocked, the wifi was a great bonus, and the furnishings were lovely. Great access to M4 and Bath, although there is some road noise in the cottage. Our 16month old loved climbing the spiral staircase, although this may not suit everyone. Was lovely to wake up and see the chickens and geese scratching around, and to send off our food scraps to the pig farm (there were absolutely no unpleasant smells from this). An added bonus was the huge garden we had access to, and were able to have a wonderful barbecue up there with several visitors, which we hadn't realised we would have access to. A real benefit for those wanting outside space.

Left on 03/14/2011 for a stay in January 2011
The interior is sumptious and inviting in a very warm and welcoming way - most comfortable.
Well equipped, making good use of space with easy to operate devices and providing generous amounts of cleaning agents/toiletries etc.
Owners very accommodating, hospitable, helpful and eager to ensure time spent at the cottage is as pleasurable as possible.
Use of parking permit for centre of Bath was a true luxury.
Spiral staircase leading to lounge could prove problematic for the less agile or those with their hands full!
Overall a property that incorporates all the components to provide a relaxing environment to unwind and feel thoroughly spoilt in! . -

This place is amazing. The owners are lovely and very helpful nothing is too much trouble. It was warm and we were there in winter. Close to town but very private and seclucive. You can go to Wales and other places from here and feel you are at home when you return. Loved it

Location off the main road, close to Bath Town Centre. Accomadation is roomy, great deco, overlooking Bath countryside..has its own farm! Jan made the check In process effortless and quick and made great recommendations. Also the parking pass is so convenient. Definately recommend for a short weekend break from the city for couples, groups of friends and families.

Surrey, UKExceptional and Excellent Holiday Cottage
Left on 03/03/2011 for a stay in November 2010
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The owners were very friendly, warm and made all of us feel at home. The quality of furnishings, fittings and equipment at the cottage were of a high standard and the view from the bedroom window is exceptional. My son did not want to leave his playstation and go to town. Even though the cottage is out of town (and we liked that) the owners had a parking spot in centre of town where we could park our car for whole day and so had the advantage of country living while enjoying the town without the worry of finding a parking.
All in all an exceptional holiday and would go back in a heartbeat. Will not hesitate to reccomend to others and have already done so. -

LoughboroughA really nice place to stay
Left on 03/03/2011 for a stay in February 2011
I stayed here for two nights with my wife and teenage son during school half term and we wish we had booked for longer. We all thought that the welcome, car parking (at the front door), property, style, furniture, beds and bedding, decor, two bathrooms, kitchen and equipment, leisure facilities (wide screen TV, PS+games, Video/DVD + films, books, board games, WiFi, etc.) were what we would like at home! We will never use a hotel to stay in or around Bath again if we are staying for 2 nights or more. The owner, Jan, was very helpful and we purchased free range eggs from her farm - delicious. The only slight issue was that the Gate House is near the road and so there is a bit of traffic noise at peak times. However this also means that access to Bath and other areas by car is quick and easy, especially if you know the back route into Bath via Larkhall, avoiding the inevitable Bath a4 traffic! A special treat was the loan of a car parking pass for a space in the middle of Bath - just 3 minutes walk from the central shopping of Milsom Street and Jollys and then the Roman Baths, etc. Bath is a really nice place to visit (historical pursuits, leisure, countryside, eating, shopping, etc) and the Gate House is a really nice place to stay.

ManchesterA truly perfect stay in Bath
Left on 03/02/2011 for a stay in December 2010
I stayed at the Gate House for 3 days last December when my family visited me from Hong Kong. I chose the Gate House since I always prefer self-catering over conventional hotel, also I realised they do offer an extra parking space in Bath city centre which is really convenient.
On our arrival, I was greeted by Jan and was given a welcome tour of the place. Then I realised the two storey barn conversion was the best self catering experience I had. The gate house was really spacious and the two rooms on the ground floor were spotless. The bathrooms were very clean and like-new. The kitchen and dining area had everything for daily cooking and the owner really has thought of every details. We spent a lot of time in the sitting area upstairs which has a flat screen TV with sky and also free wifi.
Everything was 1st class in terms of service, room size, cleanliness and location. And I do look forward to come back in the future. -

We stayed with family for a birthday trip to Bristol! Although alongside a very busy road the build quality was so good you wouldn't have known it! It was quiet and comfortable and was a perfect location forthe city and visiting family nearby.
