A 10 minute walk to the beach, this 1920’s 1656 square foot classic Bay Head Beach house will take you back to the days when people spent the evenings on their porches, walking through the neighborhoods. Additional Location Information

The neighborhood is a mixture of old Bay Head and modern. Unlike the time when our uncle built this house, Osborne Ave is filled with year round residents so there is a very stable feel as opposed to neighborhoods that are filled with vacation rentals. It is a fairly quiet street with sidewalks all the way to the beach. Loud kid noise is no problem, but being a quiet family street loud weekend parties is not desirable. The shops in Bay Head proper are a 5-minute bike ride. Here you will find the famous Mueller’s Bakery that everyone goes to on Sunday returning with pastries for breakfast. There are tennis courts across the street and on the same block is the hangout for young and old alike: Dorcas’s Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor. It is called Bay Head because it is at the northern end of the 30-mile long Barnaget Bay, which connects to the Atlantic on the southern side and to the north through the Pt. Pleasant Canal. You can go deep-sea fishing from here or enjoy sailing in the Bay. You can surf until 9am on the Bay Head beaches then it’s off to the designated beach until 5pm where all the beaches are yours again. At sunrise you will always find beachcombers and surf fisherman catching bluefish. The Bay Head beaches are unique in that no food is allowed on the beach and no changing rooms, which mean that, only people with badges (which we provide) are allowed on the beaches. This keeps the big crowds away. At night the Pt Pleasant Boardwalk is only a 15-minute bike ride away. The Boardwalk has entertainment for the entire family from toddlers to teens and dancing on the weekends for adults. There are plenty of restaurants in Pt Pleasant for dining out. Driving only 15 minutes inland and you will find all the stores you’re accustomed to from Home Depot, Bath & Beyond to Costco or stay close to home and window shop the unique stores found in Bay Head and Pt. Pleasant. The Jersey Shore Factory Outlet in Tinton Falls is only 30 minutes away. For the more adventurous, 30 minutes south is Island Beach State Park which is the largest reserve of undeveloped barrier island in New Jersey and one of the largest in the United States. This 10-mile stretch is one of NJ’s last significant remnants of a barrier island ecosystem that once was along much of the coast. You can hike, swim, kayak and with a permit four wheel drive certain areas.
Amenities: Beach towels, beach chairs, toddler beach toys, beach passes, bikes.
Air conditioning and overhead fans in each room. Each bedroom has a small closet and 2 dressers.
Downstairs: there are art supplies, paper and games for children and plenty of board games and crossword puzzles for the older crowd.
There is a TV, DVD player and Wifi. There is no phone service but cell phones work fine.
Pets are considered on a case-by-case basis.
There is no smoking and it is not wheelchair accessible.

      Perfect Holidays!

Left on 05/21/2012 for a stay in July 2009

We came from Germany over to spend a summer vacation at the beach. The house is perfect for parents who look out for some quiet time: on the porch for reading, in the garden for just enjoying the sun or on the beach at sunset. Meanwhile our daughter (17) and her girlfriend spend their days at the beach, in the water, cruising around the little romantic town of Bayhead. Or - this is one of the main attraction of Bayhead: taking the train to NYC. Just for one day! Great!
But for Bayhead it is good to have a car. The lovely house, the friendly people, the beaches, some very good seafood-restaurants: We had the perfect vacation! And we are definetly coming back! Hilde and her family from Hamburg, Germany.

Great home to enjoy vacation with the kids

Left on 05/17/2012 for a stay in June 2004

I have stayed at this home twice now during two summer vacations. We had a very relaxing time, and it is a comfortable walk to the beach. It's been a while since we stayed there-Is there still a backyard outdoor shower? Very nice detail for keeping sand out of the home!

      Perfect for families!

Left on 05/16/2012 for a stay in June 2004

My sister, her husband and their 1 yr. old joined my family, (which included 3 kids aged 1, 5 & 8), for a vacation in this house. Having a large lawn for the kids to play in, as well as being able to walk to the beach was perfect. The neighborhood seemed very safe for kids, and the screened in porch was great for the adults and their evening cocktails! There's also a nice double seated swing in the shade, in the back yard.
The kitchen was stocked with everything and anything that you might need to cook with, although we did a lot of grilling too.

      Peaceful weekend get-away with friends

Left on 05/16/2012 for a stay in June 2005

I took an easy train ride from northern NJ to Bayhead to reconnect with an old friend. The lovely home, filled with the warm laughter and conversation of friends, provided a much needed escape. A family dinner prepared and enjoyed in the bright, clean kitchen; an evening reading and talking while enjoying the breeze on the porch; a night in a charming room upstairs on a comfortable bed; and an early morning walk to the bay and on to the ocean made me wish I could have repeated that weekend over and over again. My visit ended too soon.

I loved the classic old-style Jersey shore home. It was so comfortable and well-kept. The home was near the beach and walking was safe and easy. It would have been great to have a bike there!
