It's hard to imagine, but unpopulated places like this DO still exist in the Sierras - where you can go for days without seeing or hearing anyone, your kids can play outside and just be kids, and your dog can romp off leash. If that sounds appealing, then Tyler's Cabin is for you.
Tyler’s Cabin is a remote and secluded 2-story A-frame situated on 5 acres of pristine mountain wilderness. The cabin is surrounded by pine trees and a wildflower-filled meadow, and backs up to U.S.F.S. land. So the cabin's location places you smack in the middle of your own personal sanctuary. The cabin is perfect for a peaceful romantic getaway, a family... vacation, a writer and artist's retreat, or just a place to go to get away from it all and enjoy unspoiled nature.
The cabin sleeps 6 people comfortably. Upstairs you’ll find 2 semi-private sleeping areas divided by a staircase (each side has queen-sized beds), a ½ bath (toilet, sink and vanity). Downstairs is 1 queen sized sofa bed romantically placed across from the woodstove. There is also 1 queen sized sofa bed in the back bedroom which was recently upgraded to a bedroom/entertainment room (complete with flat screen T.V. and extensive video library.) Finally, there is a full bath (toilet/shower) downstairs off the private bedroom. This is a perfect location for the kids, with the parents upstairs in their own private retreat. The open floor plan downstairs allows for comfort and togetherness. Overstuffed chairs flank the wood-burning stove, and perfect for curling up with a good book, while someone cooks the evening meal nearby. The cabin is fully stocked with everything from linens to spices. All of our supplies and toiletries are offered to our guests so they feel like this is their home away from home.
The cabin is his wireless high speed internet access, so using your laptop or IPad anywhere in the cabin is a breeze. Additionally, there is a work area upstairs that includes guest access to a computer, fax/copy/scanner, and a cordless phone/answer machine. For entertainment you'll find a 40' flat screen TV and DVD player downstairs, as well as an wireless iPod amplifier in the living room to enjoy your favorite music.
OUTSIDE: The front and back decks and the lounge chairs provide privacy, serenity, bird watching, reading, barbecuing, sunbathing or doing absolutely nothing. There’s even a rock fire pit off the back deck for roasting marshmallows and hot dogs under a star-filled summer sky. The meadow areas surrounding the cabin are perfect for throwing a ball for your furry friend.
LOCATION: The cabin is ideally situated 4 hours east of the Bay Area (just off Hwy 4) in one of the last remaining unspoiled wilderness areas of the high Sierras. It is also just 45 miles east of Murphys, 22 miles east of Arnold, 1.5 miles from the town of Bear Valley, and 3.5 miles from Lake Alpine. Even though the cabin is less than a mile off Hwy 4, you feel like you’re hundreds of miles away from civilization.
ACTIVITIES: In Bear Valley your kids can attend Bear Valley summer camp ((website: hidden)). You can dine at different eateries ranging from gourmet to pizza, or sip a drink at the Grizzly Cafe and Creekside Restaurant located in the historic Bear Valley Lodge, stock up on supplies at the General Store (circa 1850), rent kayaks and mountain bikes, attend the Bear Valley Music Festival ((website: hidden)) ride the annual “Death Ride” over Ebbett’s Pass, rock climb, hike hundreds of miles of trails (portions of the PCT, the Emigrant Trail, and the Carson/Iceberg Wilderness), geocaching, climb to the top of one of the peaks and take in the awe-inspiring views of the Dardanelles.
Just 3.5 miles from the cabin sits granite-surrounded Lake Alpine where Canadian geese roost, and ospreys, golden eagles have been spotted. The lake has a strict 10 mph speed limit for all boats – so it’s quiet and perfect for bird watching, sun bathing, paddle boarding, kayaking and canoeing. There are even some sandy beaches for little swimmers. Anglers can fish for rainbow trout. You can rent paddle boats, canoes, and small aluminum motor boats. To help with your outdoor summer fun, we provide fishing poles, fishing tackle, a (blow up) kayak, Grumman canoe (w/life jackets), fanny packs, back packs, and ice chests.
Venturing out, you'll find historic Murphys, Angels Camp, and Columbia. There's a little something for everyone in each of those towns: antiquing, exploring caves, zip-lining across a canyon, wine tasting at numerous wineries, enjoying an outdoor concert at Ironstone Vineyards, horseback riding, or visiting a historic gold mining town where cars are not allowed (only covered wagons).
Tyler's cabin is the perfect blend: You can be away from it all, or be right in the middle of high mountain action-packed fun. The only thing missing from Tyler's cabin is YOU.Read more
