Double eating, living, and play space make this a perfect home for 2 small families or 1 large family with teenagers. (We can also rent just one floor of the home - anytime except holidays and weekends during peak season). This house is decorated with motivating photos of skiers, boarders, and climbers and has 13 ceiling-to-floor windows and 2 large decks. This cre...ates a feeling of being in the middle of a large playground...which you are.

This quiet home, high in the trees, is less than 2 miles from Beech Mountain ski slopes, the golf course and clubhouse, tennis courts, heated Olympic swimming pool, fitness center, and recreation center with kids programs. There are also nearby hiking and biking trails.

If you prefer a more relaxing vacation at home, the upstairs has a living room with fireplace and TV/DVD player with a selection of DVDs, board games and wi-fi internet service. The dining room has seating for 6 guests and the kitchen is well-equipped with cookware and dining ware. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and glass-door entrance to the deck. There is also a twin bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The upstairs deck has a charcoal grill and casual seating for 6. This deck has a gate at the stairs to keep a dog or small kids out of trouble and there is a dog house at the back of the wrap-around.

The upstairs and downstairs share an entrance from the outside and a mudroom, but each have a private, secure entrance off the mudroom.

The downstairs has a living room with fireplace, futon, TV/DVD player, and a selection of DVDs and board games as well. The kitchenette has a small refrigerator, two-burner stove, micro-wave, and full range of cooking and dining ware. The kitchen table seats four. Also downstairs are a bedroom with a double bed, a bedroom with twin beds, and a bathroom. The downstairs deck has a large swing on it.

This home is one of the original built on Beech Mountain - with a classic octagon shape and high tongue-in-groove ceilings supported by large beams. It is being offered for rent for the first time and has been recently renovated. It has new paint, new windows, new furniture, new bedding and lighting, and a new TV. It is clean, well-furnished, and relaxing. Moreover, we have updated it with modern conveniences - we have wi-fi, a network extender that enables you to have cell service even without a smart phone, and a Roku box which enables you to use your Netflicks or Hulu accounts on our TV.

Beech Mountain, at 5,506', is the highest ski resort in Eastern America - with the highest temperatures in the 70s, it is a great escape from summer heat too. In winter, there is skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and ice-skating - all within 2 miles of our home. In summer, our Beech Mountain Club membership allows our guests access to swimming, tennis, golf, and the fitness and recreation center and programs -again, all within 2 miles of our home.

If you are more adventurous, there are also an abundance of recreational opportunities such as rafting, caving, rock climbing, and cross-country skiing - within a 45 minute drive of our house. Never tried it? There are several outfitters, guides, and equipment shops nearby to help. These are all listed in our extensive Welcome Book, with discounts to select outfitters and shops. Relax and enjoy exploring Beech Mountain and the surrounding High Country!

  Rented both levels of the Calhoun home with friends for a total of 3 adults and 4 children (ages 10-17) for 3 days after Christmas. After traveling during inclement weather we arrived to the Calhoun home to find that the steps had been salted and ready for our arrival. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplaces, along with the wood the Calhoun's provided. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes and utensils. The home is also equipped with a washer and dryer which was nice when returning from the slopes in wet clothes. The home is located in a community but each of the homes are situated on heavily wooded lots which gives you the peacefulness and the privacy most people are looking for in a mountain home. Kitty could not have been more helpful. She was able to help us with discount lift tickets and provided us with information about activities and events in the area. Our stay at the Calhoun's was a getaway that the entire family enjoyed and hope to make an annual event. Kitty, thanks for everything!!
