Description from the owner
This charming bush cabin was originally constructed in the 1860s by a timber feller on the outskirts of Melbourne. The building was dismantled and painstakingly reassembled in Beechworth between 2004 and 2007. It has been carefully restored to its former glory and has retained the atmosphere of a simple 19th-century settlers’ hut, without skimping on 21st-century luxuries. 1860 Luxury Accommodation is full of character; the decor is simple yet elegant and every effort has been made to provide everything you could possibly need for a stylish self-catering stay.

Olinda, Victoria, Australia1860 in autumn
Left on 05/30/2013 for a stay in May 2013
My husband and I had the most delightful stay at 1860. It is such a pretty place, with beautiful autumn trees, is very cosy and quiet and with everything sensitively designed to blend into the environment. We loved all of the use of the recycled timbers and the history of the cottage coupled with all the luxuries and comforts of modern times.
1860 is a minutes walk from the Beechworth town centre and our lovely hosts, Gina and Matt, had great suggestions for eateries and activities. We walked up to Lake Kerferd which is a very picturesque lake and water supply to Beechworth and were fortunate enough to see koalas and wallabies in their natural environment - it was such a treat. Lake Sambell was also very pretty and great to walk around.
We would highly recommend 1860 and as we were driving home, we were trying to work out when next we could come back and stay for few more days. -

My husband and I planned a 1 night getaway for our 10 year wedding anniversary - our first night away since having children. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Matt and Gina have created a beautiful sanctuary with exceptional attention to detail (we even had to wonder if the waddling ducks followed by the possum dancing in the moonlight were staged because it was all too perfect!)
We will be sure to go back to enjoy the peace and luxury at 1860!Response from 1860 Luxury Accommodation - 04/24/2013

The best place we stayed on our australian trip, by far. A really gorgeous fit-out of this historic cabin, old fashioned on the outside, modern, but still in keeping, on the inside. The polished wooden floors throughout unify the feel of the two main rooms - the living room and the bedroom. Antique-like furniture fits well with the nice kitchen and bathroom and very comfortable huge bed. Big fireplace for cold evenings if you need it. All the right modern touches like iPod dock as well. It's a short walk into the town centre for the restaurants and other attractions, but this place feels like it's in the middle of nowhere.
Summary - a brilliant place of the highest quality, no expense spared.Response from 1860 Luxury Accommodation - 04/04/2013

We stayed here for 2 nights and wished it were many more.
Beautiful setting with so many lovely details. It feels luxurious without feeling bland and lifeless like so many hotels do. Instead it was homely and perfect for a weekend away for 2.
Location is great with a short walk to all the great places in Beechworth but from the verandah it feels like you could be all alone in the country.
Would love to go back... -

A fabulous weekend getaway in this beautifully restored 1860's cottage. The attention to detail is quite magnificent. We arrived on Friday evening to a bottle of bubbly and a breakfast platter which filled us up on both mornings. Fresh bread and the paper delivered to our door on Saturday morning. Great kitchen, fantastic open fireplace, huge bath, and comfortable bed, and all beautifully done. We loved it! A short walk into town and all that Beechworth has to offer. We particularly enjoyed the degustation menu at The Provenance restaurant. Would highly recommend to all.

1860 Luxury accommodation was fantastic!!! I would definitely recommend to others and visit again! It is a beautiful home that the owners should be proud of, and the service we received was excellent!! We chose 1860 Luxury accommodation as a stop over to Melbourne, but Beechworth and 1860 Luxury accommodation are definitely worth a visit!

I booked this rental when I saw it on FlipKey (Trip advisor). The photos looked amazing, so I had high expectations when I arrived. This beautiful Luxury accommodation lives up to the photos, they show you exactly how it looks, except for the bedroom which is bigger than the photo.
I would highly recommend this place to couples looking for a romantic holiday,with the fireplace, huge bed and two person bath romance is easy.
Beechworth shops is a short 5min to 10min walk.
They have thought of everything, even the small things like;
* Torch
* Umbrellas
* Picnic Set
* Dvd's / Cd's
* Board games
* Hairdryer
* Coffee machine
The owners give you complete privacy.

The home is so beautiful with lovely touches to make the stay special. The food provided was high quality and the linen, towels and robes were luxurious and furniture comfotable.We had total privacy. The location is a just a nice little walk into the main street. We will be back again as soon and as often as possible.

1860 was a totally relaxing and comfortable place to stay. Our time there allowed for a much needed break from the everyday stresses and business. Amenities were excellent with everything we needed for our time there. The location was quiet and close to Beechworth attractions, especially the rail trail. The whole process from booking to departure was seamless. Our hosts were there if needed but were completely non-intrusive. Definately while stay again

For a getaway that is totally relaxing, 1860 Luxury accommodation fits the bill. The rebuilt slab hut with all amenities (the word 'luxury' is no accident)tucked at the end of a lane but still with open outlook over trees and greenery is a perfect location to toss away the day to day distractions and relax and enjoy that special someone. Think log fire, polished boards, verandah with barbecue, huge leather couch and equally large bed and bedroom and you start to get the picture. Your own kitchen lets you take care of meals or Beechworth a short walk or a drive away, gives you plenty of eat out choices from casual to fine dining.
Everything about this place was impeccable, the hosts friendly and helpful without imposing. Booking was a breeze. One of the best accommodations I have experienced. -

'1860' is a beautifully preserved cottage with luxury just inside the front door. From the open fire place to the king size bed to the king size bath tub to the breakfast platter waiting for you in the fridge - 1860 oozes charm and luxury. Set within walking distance from the gourmet delights of Beechworth, you could be mistaken for thinking you were in the middle of nowhere due to the breath taking silence. Perfect for a romantic get away or just to recharge the batteries. Everything has been thought of with the guests in mind - beautiful linen, mood music, reading material, dvds, local information and a breakfast platter of local gourmet delights that lasts for days. There is plenty to do during your stay in Beechworth or why not enjoy the open fire and curl up on the sumptious leather sofa and just enjoy the magic that is '1860'.

Our stay at 1860 was bliss! It exceeded all our expectations. The 'hut' is truly unique, steeped in history, yet so luxurious, so cosy. It's such a peaceful spot, sitting on the balcony, looking across to the magnificent oak tree by the creek. All of our needs were cateerd for. We loved it! Thanks Gina and Matt, you've created something special in 1860...

Thanks Antonio & Sylvie, we think the oak tree might one of the oldest in Beechworth. It would have been planted during the goldrush of the 1850's. Because it has the creek as a contant water supply it has thrived. Thanks again, Gina.

We had an amazing experience at 1860. Gina and Matt were the perfect hosts, there if you needed anything but maintaining their space and our privacy.
The cottage was well appointed with everything required for a romantic weekend away. Close proximity to main street in Beechworth and great restaurants all within easy walk.
Loved the written history of 1860, and where all products in the cottage were sourced, and the array of magazines available.
The provisions were fantastic and everything was well presented.

1860 is absolutely amazing!! It is such a beautiful, relaxing and unique homestead with everything you need from a big cosy bed to a huge bathtub for two and a fireplace to enjoy a glass of wine (or many)in front of. In addition to this you will find delicious breakfast basket in the fridge and a loaf of fresh bread with the newspaper sitting to your doorstop each morning . We couldn't have thought of a better way to spend our first few days of married life. There is not one thing I would change about 1860, we had the most amazing time there and can't wait to get back and stay a few more nights. The town of Beechworth is so wonderful too - great restaurants, beautiful buildings, fascinating history and lovely people.

Good service the local produce was of a very high quality.
I liked the fact that this once run down slab hut has been transformed into a luxury accomodation. Really good vision to see something positive from a pile of wood.
1860 is situated very near the old gaol and easy walking distance to everything in Beechworth. Probably 5-10 minutes walk from 1860 will get you to most parts of the town. Liked everything espescially the micro brewery. What did I like the least. Our stay could have been longer as we were just getting into feeling relaxed.
