SingaporeA delightful getaway
Left on 06/16/2010 for a stay in June 2010
The house was a dream. Not only was it beautiful, it was also functional in terms of layout, and well-equipped for a posse of 6 adults and 4 children. The service staff was also extremely professional and quick to respond.
We will definitely be back. Thank you for the wonderful stay! -

ShanghaiGreat escape at the great wall
Left on 05/13/2010 for a stay in April 2010
When we (4 adults and 4 teens) entered into this house, after having climbed up and enjoyed the majesty of the great wall and slided down the luge, we knew we would have a great time there. It was warm while some snowflakes (even at the end of April!)appeared for a few minutes and as beautiful as on the pictures form the site. Our teens immediately found the Bose system in which they could ply their favorite songs and started to dance in the living area. We had to toss a coin to know which couple would get the master bed room, but anyone who wanted to enjoy the shower with a view on the great wall was welcome. As it was a week day, there was less choice to order some food before 5:30 that we had to pick up in the kitchen accross the street, but with classics like curry and pasta, completed with self-made fried rice and apple in caramel and roasted marshmallows in the fireplace, we had a great dinner, once we got butter, salt and pepper from the kitchen too.I would suggest to leave some basics like oil, vinegar, pepper, salt in the kitchen in addition to sugar, tea and coffee that we enjoyed very much to find when arriving in the house in mid-afternoon.
Everybody felt home and had a good sleep, with no noise outside.
It was dificult to get everyone up to go accross the street for breakfast, with delicious muffins, banana cake and bread. I wonder however how on a peak day, all guests from all houses can fit into such a small room in such a short slot (9 am to 10 am)I would suggest to remind when arriving that we can also order breakfast to be delivered at the house. The living area is really great, very clear, with beautilful view of the great wall, its' like been inside and outside at the same time. The big american kitchen is also a nice place to cook if you have brought your own food, though one or two bigger pot might be welcome. Plenty of plates, bowls and cutlery, easy to find but please do something about the squeaking drawers. We should have stayed longer. -

Australian now living in BeijingHearts Repose
Left on 05/12/2010 for a stay in May 2010
A group of friends decided to head for the hills outside Beijing. There were
8 adults 3 children and 2 small babies. The house, 'Hearts Repose', was
more than enough to house us all and we didn't feel like we were stepping
on each other.
The bedrooms all had bathrooms and the design of the house made it feel
cosy and comfortable. The babies could sleep in the master bedroom and
not be woken up by noisy people in the kitchen. There was also a nice
sitting room for mothers to feed or rest with the babies if needed.
The kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked all our meals. It was
clean, user friendly with more than enough crockery and cutlery. The
dinning area was big and comfortable to seat everyone with clear views to
the Great Wall.
The weather was great and we used the outside areas a lot. Especially with
the children running around. The BBQ was delicious and the seating area,
again, had great views to the Great Wall. The house gate made it private and
safe for the children. The garden was clean and well presented and it was
easy to sit and chat outside.
The location was convenient as it was opposite the School House. The
morning walk to breakfast was quick and easy.
Overall, I loved the design of the house, the service was friendly and
helpful, and the location was great. I felt that I had a holiday, even though I
was there for only 2 nights. We all enjoyed our stay and would recommend
it to all. -

BeijingBravo !
Left on 05/06/2010 for a stay in November 2009
This U-shaped house oriented to the wall and set across the street from the Schoolhouse's facilities offers everything one expects from a weekend getaway in Mutianyu : tranquility, peace, excursions to the wall, a great place to stay and enjoy a wonderful time with family and friends, and so much more...
There were 7 of us, plus 3 young children and everyone enjoyed the comfort of this grandiose space !
Special mention of the master's bedroom's shower : the glass ceiling allows great views of the wall while bathing, which is a stunning experience.
It is true that the rates are not cheap, but if you can afford it and treat your loved ones with a stay in THIS house, you will not regret it a single second.

China&GermanyThe most beautiful place to stay outside of Beijing
Left on 09/24/2009 for a stay in September 2009
We fell in love with this house immediatly for the first sight and it turned out as our wedding venue. The spacious and confortable living room offers you a nice gathering and relaxing place, the beautiful small lawn suits for our small wedding ceremony perfectly. With the Great Wall concept, every house has the amazing Great Wall view. This is the place where you don't want to leave or at least you will say "Yes, i definitely come back again".
Oh, BTW, You can't miss the nice food in School house, the chef is great!!!

Beijing, ChinaBirthday Weekend
Left on 07/11/2009 for a stay in May 2009
My wife and I rented Heart's repose for her birthday because it had 3 other bedrooms and allowed us to invite our friends to stay with us. We have lived in Beijing for 4 years and have been living overseas for 10 years. Over all it was among the best times we have had since we moved to China. The house was beautifully designed, well maintained and reasonably priced when the cost was split among those who stayed with us. Given the restaurant and management office were across the street - and the Great Wall is right up the road - this is definitely a place we will return to.
