The island of Mauritius lies some 1,500 miles off the East
coast of Africa. It has a varied landscape, spread over 720
square miles. Indeed, it is the jewel of the Indian Ocean, with
100 miles of superb coastline, multi-coloured coral reefs and

Very enjoyable stay although we only stayed overnight and were out for most of the day, so it's not fair to judge as we didn't have time to use many of the facilities including the ginormous flatscreen TV (also we didn't stay in this particular property, only had a meal here, we were staying in a smaller 2-bed villa further along).
Still it was lovely to have ones own private plunge pool and butler.
However if I am to provide any constructive criticism, I found it a little bit unnerving that you could see through to next door's pool terrace so easily... Fine if there is nobody there, or if next door are your friends or extended family, but perhaps this was not the level of privacy you might expect. Also these villas are ideal if you play golf as they overlook the golf course. Sea views in the distance and beaches easily accessed by golf buggy. We liked the fact you could use either of the top-notch spas at sister luxury hotels Le Telfair or The awali hotels. -

Villas Valriche is a relatively new concept to the island, offering varying degrees of utter opulence in the form of forty or so self-catering villas. The styles vary and the décor is contemporary, with huge, extravagant furnishings. It's fair to say that they've thought of everything, from the beastly Weber barbecue outside to the Nintendo Wii in the lounge. The villas were designed with fun-loving groups in mind, be it families or teams of golfers, and concierges, chefs, babysitters and butlers can be arranged to cater for parties. The golfer won't have far to go, as the club encroaches on your landscaped back garden. Infinity pools, verandas and gazebos come as standard, and the design affords privacy as well as splendour.
It is to be noted here that staff at all three resorts are of impeccable quality, a fact of understated importance and often over-looked. And while an expensive holiday option in chastened times, Domaine de Bel Ombre offers excellent value for money. -

We had a wonderful time at Villas Valriche - the setting was unforgettable and the service was great. The villas are gorgeous and we had a fantastic barbecue with more food than you can ever imagine. It was a brilliant, relaxing experience and I'd recommend it to anyone.
