What a smashing place to stay

Left on 07/08/2012 for a stay in July 2012

This is a gem of a cottage - from the moment you walk through the door. Milk and cookies left for us so we could enjoy a cuppa, and everything thought of - 2 big folders of things to do, and a handy folder about the cottage - so no little notices everywhere! The place is so well equipped, even a brolly and a walking pole! And lots of fluffy towels..Mmm. It is just such a comfortable home from home, and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Bellingham itself is a great base, the butchers and bakers are top notch, there's a Co-op that sells just about all you'll need, and the shop next door sells country stuff, so the village has it all.
Some tips: for food - the Cheviot Hotel is brilliant and good value. The Riverside Hotel is also good but the restaurant is a bit expensive - eat in the bar for good food at much more sensible prices. For drinks - the Rose and Crown is OK, but avoid the Black Bull - we went in once and were the only ones in there for nearly an hour - no atmosphere, beer not good, no food... whereas the Cheviot has good beer, friendly service and a great atmosphere.
The church is very interesting with a stone vault ceiling and the vicar is very friendly.
Hareshaw Linn walk is extremely rewarding.

      An all round winner!

Juniper cottage provided really comfortable and well appointed accommodation. As well as being clean and attractive, the kitchen was extremely well equipped and there was an extensive range of reading material as well as some games available. The cottage is very well situated for exploring the surrounding areas, and we found it to be an ideal base for a cycling holiday. Bellingham is a lovely little town with good shops and an excellent pub for eating out.

      One of the best!

Left on 12/03/2009 for a stay in July 2009

The character cottage was spacious and beautifully appointed; spotlessly clean. Key access arrangements OK. Surrounding countryside is wonderful. Easy access to Hadrian's Wall country, but the best for me was Kielder Water - unmissable. Village pub food not bad. Very poor mobile phone service, hence the pay phone in the cottage, I guess. Look forward to returning.

It was almost the perfect place to stay

Everything we could of wished for in a cottage and more.
      Range of equipment was superb.
Spacious well decorated and every anttention to detail was well thought through and aded to comfort and enjoyment.
Located in heart of village with easy access to amenities and local walks. Small local shops provided everything we needed and two of the pubs served good food and had good atmoshere. Good tea shop and information centre.
Only difficulty was a too sensitive Would definitely go again.

A lovely quiet home from home

Sykes service is second to none, booking is easy and the property more than meets the description. A well appointed warm and homely property, with all the necessary facilities for a family holiday. Bellingham is a small Northumbrian town with all the necessary shops, pubs etc. Lots of good walks nearby and an ideal location for the Roman Wall, Keilder Forest and the magnificent Northumbrian coast is not too far away. The cottage is really comfortable and well appointed, we did not lack anything we needed.
