Description from the owner
Private acreage tucked away in a rolling pine forest with a tiny fishing/paddle boat lake. Gorgeous natural boulder landscaping decorates our trail sides. Mossy forest floors, and too many animals lurking to count. The layout of the property has been designed specifically to seclude guests so they can enjoy themselves without worrying about disturbing anyone.

Our secret cabin "Eleanor" treats people all year long. Built on stilts like a tree house, and in the pines, it has a private campfire area wrapped in a boulder wall. We supply the firewood for free. The balcony keeps you close to nature and the fireplace keep...Read more

Additional Location Information
Just 15 minutes to Itasca State Park & the headwaters of the mighty Mississippi river. And under 20 minutes to Bemidji.
Itasca: Ride a ferry boat to Historic Douglas Lodge where you can also set down and dine. Rent bicycles to take down MILES of trails or boat rental to cruise around the lake the Mississippi originates from. A great swimming beach and of course walking across the very beginning of the Mississippi river. Indulge in ice cream and shop for "Minnesotan" souvenirs.
Bemidji: See Paul Bunyan & Babe the Blue Ox on the waterfront, put in your boat and dock at a beachside restaurant. Old downtown offers too many establishments to count to eat and drink at. There is the college, the convention center for concerts and shows, little shops, and art on the street corners. Bemidji hosts MANY events and a regular farmers market.
There is a strawberry farm just down the road that also supplies fresh asparagus, and honey from the neighbor. "Neighbors" are classified as people within a 5 mi. radius because we don't have many of them:)
There are also casinos to visit within 45 minutes max.

Reiles AcresDeserves more than 5 stars!

This cabin was absolutely amazing. My husband and I went here for our 5 year wedding anniversary this past weekend for a little getaway and couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place. It was quiet and tucked away in the woods. No close neighbors. Peaceful. Everything we needed! We took our snowmbobile out on the trails for over 6 hours. We snow-shoed the next day down a few trails and to the lake. The weather was perfect. We saw several deer while on the trails. The cabin was breath-taking. The fireplace and bathroom were gorgeous. We woke up both mornings to the sun on the tops of the trees. It has a amazing views of the forest. The quality and craftsmanship of the cabin were perfect. You can definitely feel the love that was put into this cabin by annie, the owner. Annie even stopped by one night to make sure everything was perfect. What a great host!! There are some places you go where you can't wait to pack up and get back to your home and reality. You will not want to leave this place. It was so hard to pack up and drive away. We will definitely come back again and would recommend Eleanor to anyone!

Very nice place for my grandparents to spend a night. Beautiful, secluded, neat as a pin...would refer to others for sure!
Also--very nice trails throughout the campground. Have ridden horse through as trails are nicely groomed. -

Monticello, MNVery relaxing and a fun place to stay!
Left on 01/19/2013 for a stay in July 2012
My husband and I stayed in Eleanor for a weekend one summer. It was a very relaxing weekend with lots of things to do; drive around in a golf-cart, go for hikes, fish, pick berries, and the list goes on and on! Also, Annie was very accommodating; we collected wild blueberries and wanted to make a blueberry pie but didn't have a recipe, so we asked annie if she maybe had one. She gladly looked one up at her house and brought it to us! That's just one example of how willing the staff is to help their guests have a fabulous stay.

Left on 01/14/2013 for a stay in July 2012
By far the best place to stay in the area! The cabin is immaculate and smack dab in the middle of the beautiful forest which allows for breathtaking views, romantic sunsets, and wildlife scenery. Perfect for any couple, family, or single person looking to get away and relax or to have fun. Lots of trails, tons of fishing, have a campfire, ride your atv, the options are endless on what fun there is to do at the black lantern! Definitely 5 stars!!

Big Lake, MinnesotaBeautify, relaxing and a great place to stay.

The cabin has all the essential comforts of home. The location is beautiful. Get up early and sit on the deck, watch the wildlife, listen to the birds. The lake is not for swimming but it has a nice dock and there are canoes, kayaks and paddleboats for your use. Or just sit on the dock and watch the loons and other wildlife that come for a drink.. You can catch fish right off the dock also. There are all kinds of trails for hiking, atv's and in the winter, snowmobiling. Annie is awsome, if there is anything you need, she is right there to help. I cannot wait until our next stay.

Elk River, MNA place to enjoy mother nature and recharge in the most romantic
Left on 01/13/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We have been at the very romantic cabin at the Black Lantern a few times over the last couple of years and look forward to many more adventures. The peace and quiet, with a call of the wild every once in a while, is perfect. The bird watching is excellent from the couch in the cabin. Snow on the boughs of the trees is like a picture - just beautiful. From snowmobiling to 4 wheeling to fishing there is just not enough time in a weekend. Thank you for building a place for people to come and get a chance to stop time for a while, enjoy mother nature and recharge.
