appleton, wisconsinEnchanting Treasure
Left on 12/05/2012 for a stay in October 2012
My friend and I both retired and decided to celebrate by meeting half way between where we each lived. From the moment I contacted Kristi, I knew that we would have a wonderful experience. The communication was great and also sweet, as she asks that you call her to make sure you arrived safely. My friend, who knew nothing of the cottage since I did the arranging, arrived first. When I drove in, she was waiting for me excitedly, showing me every enchanting detail both outside and inside the cottage. The red door welcomes you into a lovely and comfortable living room complete with leather seating and fireplace. Everything is immaculate and artistic. The town of Benton Harbor is charming as well. We both will be returning with our husbands, next time. This truly is a treasure.

Southeast MIIt is such a charming cabin
Left on 11/09/2012 for a stay in November 2012
My family (2 adults, 3 kids) stayed here for a friend's wedding in St. Joe, and it was absolutely wonderful. In fact, we were sad that we didn't get to spend more time enjoying the cabin and surrounding area!
The cabin is more charming in person than in the pictures. Kristi, the owner, is very caring and you can tell she takes pride in the home by how well it is maintained.
Things that may be helpful if considering the place: it's very clean, updated, well maintained, on a hill with views of Lake Michigan, great neighborhood, great yard for the kids to play in (or just sit in and enjoy), the main bedroom on the first floor was big enough to also have a pack-n-play set up next to the bed; the other beds are upstairs in the loft (2 twins, 1 queen), plenty of windows/skylights, heat works very well upstairs, fans in every room if desired, wi-fi worked great, and the check-in/check-out process was quick and easy.
Definitely worth a repeat visit someday! You won't regret staying here!

Good price for a quality place. A private beach just at the corner, very convenient. Living on the hill is awesome, nice neighborhood. People in the town are also very nice. My family are very happy living here.

st.thomasVery Nice Cabin
Left on 08/28/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We had the pleasure of renting this cabin for 3 nights. There was 4 of us, which included my 79 year old mother-in-law. We loved everything about the cabin 4 star flair, very comfortable and cozy. The only thing we didn't like was the walk to the beach... You have to travel down and up 49 stairs, step stairs, and also walk quite a distance. My mother-in-law did it once and it wore her out, couldn't do it anymore :( We ended up going to the public beach and paying 8 dollars to get in. We were disappointed that there wasn't easier access to the beach. So if you have trouble walking or are traveling with older people just keep this in mind. Other then that, it was a great get away. The beach is beautiful and very clean. The neighbors were very nice and friendly, very nice area.

The spur-of-the-moment weekend get-together with my adult children and future daughter-in-law could not have been more perfect. The moment I made contact with the owner, I was struck by how personably Kristi handled my reservation. As we turned the bend that lead to the cabin, we let out a collective gasp; the setting was beautiful. Given the tremendous care and creativity that we observed of the grounds and exterior of the cabin, we could hardly wait to step inside. What we found was a "home", not your typical sparsely furnished vacation rental. We literally walked from room to room in amazement. The artwork, furniture, fixtures, linens, not to mention the gourmet kitchen, told us we had stumbled upon an unbelievable find. It is tempting to keep the "Charming Cabin" all to ourselves as a best kept secret, but Kristi's creativity and hospitality are meant to be shared. Kristi provided a detailed PDF document (which she updates regularly) that served as the perfect guide to not only the cabin but the area of Benton Harbor and St. Joe's. As first-time visitors to the area, we found her info extremely helpful; her dining recommendations were wonderful. The cabin location was ideal, in a gorgeous upscale residential neighborhood overlooking the Lake and just a 5-10 min. walk to the beach. Simply put, we can't wait to return to Kristi's "Charming Cabin".

Hands down best birthday, I've had in a while. Super cute cottage, very comfortable and surprisingly roomy summer home. Love the decor and location for a variety of reasons. Everyone in the area including Kristi were super nice and accomodating. Beach was a short walk, but well worth it! Clean private beach and sand so soft! Stairs to beach a bit steep, but not unbearable. I can't wait to go again and look forward to maybe staying longer than just a few days!

My friends and I stayed here for a quick 2-night mini-vacation and were really pleased with this cabin, which is as charming as it looks, and close to the beach! The outdoor seating and carefully planned landscaping made the cabin an oasis in the neighborhood and a perfect getaway for five friends.
With five of us, we did max out the sleeping arrangements, but it never felt crowded. The only changes we would suggest would be towel racks and a small trash can in the bathroom. We also wished there was a general or small convenience store within walking distance, but planning ahead can take care of that! Cleanliness and service were exceptional, and Kristi's notes and advice were very helpful. Would definitely recommend to friends and family! -

We had such a delightful weekend at the cabin. Located a few minutes from downtown St Joe on wooded bluff overlooking the lake, this location has it all. Privacy, convenience, a gorgeous private beach. The cabin is so charming and has obviously been cared for with a lot of heart and soul. The only problem we had was the cabin was so comfortable and fun that we found ourselves wanting to linger there rather than get out and enjoy all there is to do in the area. Guess we'll have to go back.
