First class villa on a paradise island

Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in December 2012

My husband and I stayed at Windsong Villa for our honeymoon in December 2012 and we could not have wished for a more perfect Caribbean island or a more luxurious villa.
The villa is in an ideal position with the most incredible views over Industry Bay. We could not stop smiling the day we arrived on the island and walked around the villa with our jaws open in amazement .
Watching the sunrise over the bay from the verandana or pool was magical and an amazing way to start each day. We could not believe the views the first morning we woke up, it was breathtaking.
The villa is large and spacious with two pools all to yourselves. Choosing which pool to use in the morning made us feel extremely spoilt! The villa has everything you can imagine or want for in terms of furniture, pool furniture and kitchen equipment. Unlike some rentals I have used in the past where you make do and mend with what you are provided with this villa had more gadgets, pots and pans than my own kitchen at home! There was a large fridge and freezer and all modern gadgets including a coffee machine and an all important blender to make rum punch for by the pool!
The bedrooms were very spacious with very comfortable beds and luxurious bathrooms with great wet room style showers.
A house keeper and gardener came as often as we wanted and kept the place immaculate. The gardens were just beautiful with all sorts of unusual plants and fresh exotic fruits growing. Taking a midnight dip with fire flies in the trees above your head is hard to beat!
A house keeper Patricia was there to greet us on arrival and had left us a wonderful home cooked meal which was just what we needed after a long journey. She was so welcoming and made us feel immediately at home. She is available to come back and cook for you during your stay on arrangement as you wish and also offers babysitting. She supplied immaculately laundered sheets and fresh towels to a higher standard than most hotels!
If you have not been to the island before you cannot go wrong and will not be disappointed if you chose Bequia for your Caribbean holiday. Although I am slightly reluctant to say that at the moment it is a great kept secret! We heard of Bequia through a friend and on researching it further we liked what we learned, particularly when The Sunday Times voted it the "perfect" Caribbean Island - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/destinations/centralamericaandcaribbean/8420888/Bequia-is-this-the-perfect-Caribbean-island.html
We could not have been more pleased with our choice on arriving at the island. Arriving in a small sea plane as the sun set will be something we will remember forever. It is a relaxed island unspoilt by tourists and you instantly feel relaxed and at ease. The smells, sights and sounds are incredible . My husband actually thought a sound effects tape was playing at the villa when we arrived the sound of the insects was so loud!
There are so many lovely restaurants on the island you cannot go wrong. We particularly enjoyed Fernando's Hideway with freshly caught fish homecooked for you that night. It was like nowhere I had ever been before and recently got a special review in the Telegraph travel supplement.
There is as much or as little as you want to do on the island. We hired a jeep and explored the island under our own steam finding lovely beaches and restaurants for lunch. We also really enjoyed a day out on the Friendship Rose to the Tabago Quays and would thoroughly recommend this. Swimming with turtles was a particular highlight! We also had a fantastic trip out with Simeon, a local fisherman, who took us out on his speedboat ("baywatch") around the island. Highly recommended!
Overall Bequia was the perfect Caribbean Island still unspoilt by tourism and we would both go back in an instant. If you are looking for a villa on the island you cannot go wrong with Windsong. It is the ultimate in luxury with two pools, amazing views and everything you could ask for. It was a perfect hideaway for our honeymoon but would equally be a great place to spend with family or friends and we plan to return one day with one or the other, or both! The villa is large enough not to feel on top of each other and with two pools everyone gets a sunbed or float and space to relax! We cannot rate this villa or the island highly enough. A perfect retreat.
