Agnew Hall overlooks the enormous Moonhole rock arch and the coral reefs of the Lower Bight

Tom Johnston built the Agnew-Hall house in the late 1960's as a getaway for two of his close friends, Giff Agnew and Doug Hall. To the north it overlooks the enormous Moonhole rock arch and the Lower Bight, a great spot for snorkeling and diving. The private Moonhole sand beach is only 50 steps (some steep ones) away on the south side of the house. There's always a breeze on the upper deck and in the main room and bedrooms. Sounds of the sea surround from the surge in the bight on the Caribbean side and the waves lapping on the beach on the Atlan...tic side. The deck affords panoramic views of St. Vincent to the north and Petit Nevis, Isle a Quatre, Mustique, Cannouan, Union and Pigeon Island to the south. Frigate birds sail overhead every morning and afternoon. Seine boats anchor in the bight. Passing yachts, fishing boats, dive boats and ferrys are the only "traffic" one sees.

Agnew Hall is adorned with whalebone sculptures, handmade furniture made with whalebones and Guyana's green hearts and a bright array of Caribbean colors. The main living area includes three dining areas, a bar, seating areas, a writing desk and charcoal grill. Due to its elevation, the house is very private, even though it's close to the Moonhole entrance and commissary. The house has two large bedrooms, each with its own small but servicable bathroom, and separate staff quarters. One bedroom has a king-size bed, the other a double bed. Each bedroom has a private seating area with views of the sea. Lighting is provided by portable rechargeable solar lights. The recently re-equipped kitchen has a propane fridge/freezer and stove.

The rental fee for Agnew Hall is $1,500 per week, which includes the wages of the staff member who cares for the guests. Our staff will prepare meals at tenant's request, clean house and provide laundry services. Tenants are required to pay for the cost of food and beverages prior to departure.
