The apartment is located in a 4-story house which is built in the classical style of the wooden houses in Bergen. It is originally built around 1890, but the interior has recently been refurbished and all facilities are high standard. To get to the city centre one can walk through Bergen's famous narrow streets. These lead almost directly to the heart of Bergen where you can find shopping, museums, the Fish Market and also Unesco's heritage listed Bryggen with old hanseatic buildings. Here you can visit a variety of souvenir shops or enjoy a cold beer in the sun at one of the meny restaurants or bars.

      Excellente location

Left on 09/09/2012 for a stay in August 2012

      Excellent apartment in Beautiful Bergen

Left on 09/07/2012 for a stay in August 2012

My husband and I stayed five nights in this apartment on Ovre Blekevejen in Bergen in august, 2012. The apartment is spotlessly clean, very well equipped, extremely comfortable, and had a very kind and helpful landlord who not only took us grocery shopping, but also helped us locate good restaurants and shopping. The kitchen was beautifully equipped, as was the bath, down to having a really good dishwasher and an excellent washing machine that I used many times. The extra large television had very fine cable reception to many international channels and wifi was available. The pots and pans, dishes, silverware, etc, were all exemplary, generous, and spotless, although a new bread knife might be a good idea. The apartment even has a foyer for leaving coats, umbrellas, and shoes. Every detail has been carefuly thought out. The place is very well done. It is a perfect apartment for two. While four can sleep there, my guess is it will be snug, as two will have to sleep in the living room, which is not huge, although it boasts a particularly nice sofa, which may turn into a double bed. The location of the apartment iabove the city by a ten to fifteen minute walk. There is a funicular, which can be used to get down and up the hill to the apartment by riding it to the first stop if climbing the hill is not to your taste. We did both depending upon the weather. The city is one of the glories of Norway, absolutely beautiful, the apartment is located in a particularly lovely neighborhood with a great view. The neighbors are very friendly and there are some lovely parks very close by for walking and jogging. There is also a good grocery (Safari) with drug store next door nearby as well as several others a bit further away.

      A wonderful retreat

Left on 08/16/2012 for a stay in June 2012

The Bergen apartment was private, comfortable and spacious. After spending many weeks in hotel rooms this apartment was a retreat. Well located between the town, great walks and local facilities. Erik ensured the apartment had everything a traveller needed and was very welcoming. I highly recommend this apartment.

      Very good apartment!!

Left on 08/16/2012 for a stay in July 2012

I stayed there with my family for a couple of days.

Eirik was very kind and solved us all our doubts in the moment.

He also provided us very useful information.

The apartment was clean and very well placed, very close to the city centre.

It had a very good relation between quality and prize. Great value taking into consideration the prizes in Bergen.

      Great vacation apartment

Left on 07/28/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We finished our weeklong Norway Fjord traqvels with 3 nights in Bergen and decided to find a small apartment instead of another hotel. It was lovely staying in the heart of the city, right next to the historic firehouse and at the bottom of the walking trail up to the Foyen park. The neighborhood is quaint, it is an easy walk downhill to the center of old Bryggen, and we felt as if we were truly experiencing being part of the town. The apartment is small but has everything needed for cooking a full meal, and the bedroom and bath are very comfortable. Eirik (the owner) advised us on many travel options before we arrived, he was very helpful - and proved to be just as nice when we met in person. As long as you can make the 5 minute walk up the hill (to get back to the apartment from the center is uphill) I highly recommend this.

      #1 Choice in Bergen

Left on 07/22/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We make annual trips to Bergen and have stayed in hotels, B&Bs; and, for the first time, apartments. Bergen apartment was one of two that my husband and I rented. Our choices were based on internet information and reviews, correspondence with owners, rental rates and proximity to our daughter's apartment. We would have rented this apartment for our entire stay in Bergen had it been available.

The apartment is newly remodeled. The owner, Eirik Hagesaeter, has designed a modern, comfortable apartment with all of the conveniences. There is a flat screen HD TV with cable and good wirelees internet; also a washer/dryer. The kitchen has all of the basics including a coffeemaker, electric tea kettle, microwave and dishwasher. Linens were freshly washed and included an amply supply of soft hand and bath towels unlike limited worn out ones at the other apartment. Eirik asked us if there were other things that would improve the apartment. When we suggested reading lamps for the bedroom, he quickly produced two new ones along with a supply of wine glasses. He had just returned from a trip to Ikea with the purchases!

The location is in an excellent residential neighborhood with nearby views of the city and harbor. It is a short distance above the first Floibanen (funicular) stop near the old fire station. (See photo.) If you are planning to walk from Bryggen to the apartment, be prepare for an fairly arduous walk up the lower part of Mt. Floyen. While we enjoyed this, some might find it strenuous especially if pulling large suitcases. Groceries can be purchased from the near-by Safari or the Seven/Eleven.

Eirik provided excellent service. He was readily available by phone and text messaging both before and during our stay. He even checked in on us when we did not return as scheduled from a trip to Preikestolen to make sure that we were OK. His concern for our welfare was appreciated. We look forward to staying at Bergen apartment on our next visit.

View from central Bergen: The apartment is to the left of the fire station. Kitchen has large refrigerator-freezer.

Great place to stay in Bergen

Left on 07/04/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Before we arrived, Eirik the owner was very helpul in suggesting things we could do in and around Bergen.

When we arrived, we were delighted with the location. Walking distance to the centre of Bergen, the old harbour and the funicular station. You can also walk to the top of the Floyen viewpoint and trails if you are up for it. The apartment is in a lovely neighborhood, on a hillside overlooking the city, and set amongst streets lined with beautiful wooden cottages/homes.

Finally, the apartment was very comfortable for a couple; plenty of space, good kitchen, and importantly, great for sleep - quiet, and a good bed.
