Micasa is located in a quiet residential street not far from stores and eating places in North Berkeley. We stayed for four nights and were very satisfied. Ted made us welcome, providing water, wine and coffee. The rooms are full of antique furniture, interesting objects and pictures. We enjoyed the views from the big windows in the sitting room as well as relaxing on the little sun terrace by the back door. All-in-all we figured we had made the right choice and would happily have stayed longer. But we had a trip to Yosemite on the programme...

So, we are the parents of Luci from Germany and we can just reemphasize all she is writing in her review !
We really enjoyed the tastefully furnished and unique rooms, with comfortable bed and full kitchen. For christmas-dinner we could even do some serious cooking.
Ted and Mica are perfect hosts with a great service; we got everything we needed. And more.
This nice quiet neighborhood in North Berkeley with spacious parking outside on the street had a lot to offer in walking distance as well.
We certainly would return to Micasa and recommend it to anyone visiting Berkeley or the Bay area.

Left on 01/07/2013 for a stay in December 2012
I am an exchange student at Cal and my parents came over to Berkeley from Germany for Christmas. We had a lovely time at Micasa, as it s very comfortable and cosy to hang out there. It has a fireplace with an artifical fire, which made the house get warm very fast. Also Ted and Mica provided us with fresh juice, fruit, wine, milk, cream, sparkling water etc. when we arrived. We felt really welcomed! Also Ted came by every day to do cleaning and recycling.
It was great to be able to stay in North Berkeley, as there are nice restaurants and grocery stores close by and I can absolutely can recommend staying at Micasa! -

Long BeachMicasa -- a wonderful & peaceful apartment in N. Berkeley
Left on 11/07/2012 for a stay in November 2012
Micasa is a very comfortable 1 bedroom apartment perched on a hilltop in N. Berkeley, 5 minutes from the Gourmet Ghetto.
Furnishings are period-correct antiques, and very comfortable at that. There is an outside patio, surrounded by flowers & greenery. Full kitchen & bath.
Ted & Mica are wonderful hosts, supplying us with an ample fruit plate, milk/cream/OJ/sparkling water/wine, and coffee/tea. Ted delivered fresh pastries on our first morning, and Mica helped us with activity ideas for our young son.
We entertained friends two nights in a row, and the apartment can comfortably hold 4, maybe 6, adults.
We will definitely try to stay at Micasa the next time we visit Berkeley! -

My husband and I stayed at Micasa for 6 days while visiting our son. It is a perfect location. This rental is the upstairs of a bungalow in a quiet No. Berkeley neighborhood We enjoyed the patio and the comfortable rooms. Everything you need. Perfect host and hostess. It is not handicap accessible, however, this was not an issue for us. We live in the country so our only minor issue was sometimes parking was a challenge. Would certainly return if we make it back to Berkeley.

Micasa is a wonderful little house, set on a corner full of lush greenery and flowers; nothing better than waking up and having a coffee on the veranda. Even if it were not perfectly situated in the center of Berkeley, I would stay there just for the atmosphere of the house, which is serene, and impecably decorated with antiques and beautiful lamps, among other little treasures to look at. And, of course, you couldn't meet two nicer or attentive host and hostess; the service is flawless. I highly recommend Micasa to anyone who wants to stay in Berkeley or the surrounding area !!

Amazing location and service.
Ted & Mica are some of the nicest people you will ever meet, and make you feel welcome and at home from the minute you walk in. The B&B; is gorgeous, decorated with great artwork and antiques, giving it a lovely rustic feel. Very classy.
Located in a beautiful neighborhood, you have access to the rest of Berkeley either by foot or by the Bart. Walking distance to the gourmet ghetto.
In the morning Ted will deliver fresh pastries from a local bakery on your door.
I would recommend this place to anyone who needs a place to stay in Berkeley.

We stayed at Micasa and had a wonderful time--we were renovating our bathroom in nearby albany, Ca, and needed short-term accomodataions on very short notice. It so happened that Ted and Mica has a good stretch of availability. It made our renovation project feel more like a vacation!
The house is a classic Berkeley bungalow, in an ideal location, just blocks from Chez Panisse, the Cheeseboard Collective and the Gourmet Ghetto. Indeed, it's a treat simply to wander around the adjacent streets and admire the gardens and renovated homes. It's a very comfortable unit, with a charming kitchen and the cutest classic Wedgewood stove you'll ever see. The decor cleaves to the mission style of the house itself and is very comfortable. Open the doors and let the breeze float through on a sunny afternoon, or sit by the cozy fireplace on a foggy morning. Ted and Mica are wonderful hosts too! In a phrase: Berkeley at its best. -

Ted & Mica have a true gem in a great neighborhood in N. Berkeley. Charming garden and patio area. Much of house is 1905 original but all amenities are there and work perfectly. Would highly suggest Micasa - better way to experience Berkeley than a hotel!

Hi, I would like to review Ted and Mica's home Micasa in North Berkeley: this is an exceptional property. Let me know if you need additional information since I recommend this rental highly.
My husband, adult daughter and I stayed a wonderful weekend recently -- May 10-13, 2012 at Micasa in North Berkeley. We were there to celebrate our son's graduation with a Master's degree from U.C. Berkeley. The house is unique and charming/quiet and comfortable -- the scent of jasmine as you ascend the stairs; the antique toys and artifacts; the Tiffany style lamps; the comfortable craftsman style furniture; the extraordinary view to the west as the sun is setting; the private patio off the kitchen; the amazingly comfortable beds. Ted and Mica were impeccable hosts -- delightful and helpful. They stocked the kitchen with tasty espresso, fresh squeezed OJ and delicious fruit. They gave us great suggestions for local food -- including an amazing bakery Masse's that is close by and has as good a Pain au Chocolat as I have tasted in Paris. We walked to Chez Panisse -- what a great location close to the Gourmet Ghetto. We enjoyed the fully outfitted kitchen and wireless internet. We were close to campus and felt as if we were part of the neighborhood. We'll be back. Ted and Mica's home is a gem. Thank you.

We were delighted from the moment we opened the door.
This is such a beautiful place that I could have enjoyed my vacation
just staying in the apartment. It is lovingly appointed with lighting, painting and art work that Ted has collected over many years. The living area is huge and the windows look over the treetops of Berkeley. The kitchen was beautiful too, but also is a great benefit when you have the opportunity to make breakfast, light the fireplace and sit on the window seat looking over the garden . Ted is a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome.
It was a lovely experience to be able to stay in such a beautiful
environment.

My husband and I learned of this beautiful, craftsman bungalow from our daughter and son-in-law who live down the street. It was perfect for us, as not only was our family close, but we also could have some private time on the contemplative outdoor terrace in the morning and at the end of the day. Furthermore, the prime location gave us easy walking access to the the gourmet, fun and fashionable shopping district on Shattuck, a few short blocks away. The owners were warm and gracious and provided us with all the amenities one would expect in fine lodging. The unique fresh flowers growing outside and creatively arranged inside were an added attraction. The fresh fruit on the table, the wonderful antique toys and the comfortable and beautiful craftsman furniture contributed to the enjoyment of our stay.
We will definitely come back to Micasa! -

Staying at Micasa is always a wonderful experience. The owner, Ted, and his wife Mica are gracious, considerate, and charming hosts. Guests enjoy a large comfortable living area, beautifully appointed with enchanting art and antiques. (Ted and Mica have amazing taste!) There's a complete and fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, and laundry area. The bedroom is immaculate, with a large comfortable bed, wardrobe and television. There's a lovely patio, full of foliage and flowers--a great place to relax and take in Berkeley's unique ambiance. The house is close to the University, shops, boutiques and parks. San Francisco is just a short drive or Bart ride away. When I'm in Berkeley, I'd never stay anywhere else!
