We skied 2 years ago at Powderhorn and I noticed Bear Necessities. Glad we decided to book this place. There was plenty of room for 15 plus people, with age ranges from 3yrs old to 60yrs old. Stayed for 4 days and enjoyed every minute of it. Looking to get signed up for next year.

This is a beautiful lodge in a great location for a large group. A little pricey but it rents out quickly so it's worth it!
Excellent as always!!!

Every year you welcome us with open arms!!! You treat us as family, going out of your way to make our trip special every year!!! Bear necessarties is one of the prime places to stay on the resort. We have selected the bare necessities because it is the best location for the amenities that we seek being hillside is awesome. We can come and go as we please without making a huge production of trying to each everyone on the same page!!

We have been coming to Powderhorn for at least 25 years. We have stayed at other locations but we keep coming back to Bear. I think we have been at Bear at least 18 of the 25 times. We really like the remodel and the TV room and the opposing sitting room. Things we don't like is we come up in a 34 ft RV and we can not park it on the upper driveway. It is just too steep. We have gotten it stuck and slid into the trees and so on so plan on carrying all your gear up a lot of stairs. Shuttle service very nice. We are always there during the week and this year they had enough lifts open so we could ski the whole hill.
Great place to stay!

We have been coming to Powderhorn for 23 years and 11 of them have been at Bear Necessities. We love the ski in-ski out option. The large kitchen is wonderful for a full house of guests. Bedrooms very spacious and comfortable. Hot tub is great after a long day of skiing. Comfortable living room with a lot of seating. We, however, have grown out of the Bear Necessities and are trying out Sno Summit next year.

This is our 3rd year at Bear Necessities and each time we step foot in this beautiful condo we feel so blessed. Our group of 10 women, have stayed at many different condos over 22 yrs but once we found Bear Necessities we found our home. This condo is huge but still intimate; the 2 living rooms gives everyone plenty of space never feeling we are on top of each other. The view of the run from the warmth of the living room is fun. The kitchen is plenty big for several cooks and well stocked with every pot or pan you need. The dinning room is perfect for a sit down dinner. As you enter the condo there is a large area for boots and jackets so we never have to bring those clothes into the condo - really helps you stay organized. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms...love the hot tub and sauna. Only suggestion..would love to have a 2ed hot tub outside:)but really this is the best condo we have ever stayed in and it will be our home once a year for many years to come. Now a word about the staff...outstanding!! Everyone is friendly, welcoming and helpful. This service starts with lodging desk staff to the guys who shovel the deck and check the hot tub. We always take the little bus to the Pub and Grub one night during our stay..love that service and that once we arrive our cars don't have to move. The hill is great and always in great condition. I have found Powderhorn goes above and beyond as far as service...even this year when one of the girls forgot a pair of snowshoes...no problem...Powderhorn shipped them. Thank you Powderhorn and see you next year! Read more

We had another great stay at "The Bear". The accommodations are excellent, the staff was wonderful and very helpful, the lift operators were friendly. The kids even enjoyed a few rides down the hill on the sleds. They said it was a long walk back up the hill and wished the chair lifts were running after 4 PM.
Great place, great friends and a great time.
Great house for our group of 12.

Our group has been staying at Powderhorn for years. This is the first time we've stayed at Bear Necessities. The living area, the bedrooms, and being trailside worked well for us. The only thing this house is missing is a big dining table to seat the entire group, but the bar stools around the kitchen counter were nice for additional seating.

We have stayed in many chalets at Big Powderhorn and Bear Necessities tops them all. It's spaciousness accommodated our large family. Having two living rooms is great when you have a large group with different interests. It is clean, bright and beautifully decorated. We loved the ski-in/ski/out availability. We will definitely try to stay here again. It is difficult to reserve this chalet.

We have rented Bear Necessities for our annual Girls Ski Trip for the past 2 yrs...(we stayed at Skyward prior which is nice but Bear Necessities is much larger, better layout for us and more updates). The layout of this condo really makes it perfect for our group of 10 gals. The huge open concept kitchen with snack bar seating for 10 makes a perfect gathering place for a few or dinner for all. The layout, with the double living rooms, is great for group socializing/ movie watching/ game playing in one LR and quiet reading in the other. The bedrooms are large and comfortable. Love the hot tub (which is inside). The condo has multiple decks great for enjoying the day outside. Of course, this is a ski in/ ski out condo so the hill is just feet away-got to Love that!! The staff at Powderhorn are fantastic! From Tony who checks our hot tub each day, the front lodge staff, ticket lady, the bartenders and waitstaff at the Main Lodge, to the guys who man the lifts...all make your vacation perfect!! They are all wonderful; friendly very helpful, and down right fun! We love this place and will return each year.

Our family has been going to Big Powderhorn Mt for decades -for 4 full days of skiing and always staying at a place on the slopes. This year for the first time we stayed at Bear Necessities and it was wonderful! Great access to the runs and our favorite was getting the first of the next generation on the slope- almost 3 year old grandson Gabriel! By day 4 he was going down alpen and even ventured onto the Chairlift several times. Great place to stay, great space, everything you need- even in the kitchen, little snafu with maintenance that was quickly fixed. Had a wonderful time.

Our family has stayed at this lodge several times over the years. We love the set up, a TV watching area and on the other side of the big fireplace, an area to visit and for kids to play. The kitchen is fabulous and the long L shaped eating counter seats many, making it easy to visit while working in the kitchen. Each bedroom has a different animal theme, which is just fun. There is lots of room inside and out. The furnishings are very nice. We truly enjoy this lodge.

We had a great time staying at Bear Necessities. The property is first rate. Probably the nicest we have stayed in at Big Powderhorn. We had 4 families with plenty of romm for all. The location is outstanding. Only regret was that the alpin Inn was closed due to our Mon-Weds stay... also the Foosball table has issues. We will definately stay there again.

The Best Condo Yet!!

Our group of 10 women have taken a annual ski trip for 22 yrs! The last 10 yrs we have been at Powderhorn and have always stayed at Skyward (which is a lovely condo also). This yr we desided to try Bear Necessities and we are so glad we did. The condo is beautiful, large and right on the run. This condo is so large that we never felt cramped and there was plenty of room for us to spread out. The 2 living rooms, large kitchen and dining room with bench, nice sized "ski room" in the entry way helped us keep coats and boots out of the living space. The only drawback is the hot tub is in-doors and we really like and out-door tub. But with all the positives this condo has to offer we can give up the out-door hot tub. We are booked already for next yr.
We love the Bear!

We love staying at Bear Necessities! The only downside was that the hot tub was rather dirty - old and sort of slimy water. But, the rest of the place was clean and spacious. We had a great stay.

We are return customers at Big Powderhorn and have rented many trailside or deluxe chalets over the years. This unit is definitely among our favorites. This was the second time we've rented Bear Necessities, wished that we could have stayed longer and already are discussing when we'll be back. Everything was perfect except the water pressure. We rated 'service' average because we kept the unit clean and didn't need to contact the office for anything during our stay. Special thanks go to Char and Claire at Big Powderhorn Lodging association for everything!

Bear Necessities is an awesome rental for a large group. Beautiful home with beautiful furniture. Disapointment due to the fact that two of us have animal allergies and the dog hair present on the beds on the main floor was awful.

We have been coming to Big Powderhorn for 10 years and Bear Necessities was awesome! We had thirteen people that came to Big Powderhorn and this home was really great! I really love the kitchen area with its open atmosphere. Cooking and cleaning was not a chore because you always felt part of the action. Beds were very comfortable and there are plenty of bathrooms. Love the hot tub and sauna too!

We visited the first week of March to snowmobile and ski. Mother Nature did not allow us to sled so we got in double the amount of skiing. Fantastically located. Beautiful home. If I were to think of one drawback it would be size of the hot tub (4 person). Definite five star home.

We love staying at Powderhorn. This was our 7th year coming to the mtn and we had a blast as usual. The lodging arrangements aren't terribly cheap, but they are perfect! We have stayed at several of the houses - Gio's, Skyward, Shannon, and the Bear Necessities is definitely the king of the hill.

We stayed at this condo once before. The kitchen has been upgraded with new counter tops and flooring, both are great enhancements. Six bedrooms work extremely well especially the two that have the bath attached.
The only draw back is the gas fireplace. Not sure why, but starting the fire and making sure it stays stoked is part of our ski weekend experience.
Our group enjoyed the condo so much we "bearly" left to go skiing!

Our group consisted of 2 senior citizens, 4 adults and 7 college kids. Bear Necessaties provided something for everyone. We spent evenings playing cards, talking, alot of laughter and relaxing in the hot tub. We cooked meals each evening and the kitchen supplied us with all the necessary equipment. We look forward to another great stay in the future.

we had a great time at bear necessities and plan on staying again next year. the only concerns was the dvd player was not working, there was alot of light bulbs burned out inside and out. and would have been nice to have the decks shoveled off made it difficult to get to the hill because of the build up.but these few items did not stop our group from having our best ski weekend at powderhorn and will be back agian next year
