This is our second year at Southern Comfort and our 7th year coming to Big Powderhorn. We really enjoy Southern Comfort. The kitchen and 3 bathrooms are always clean and ready to go. We have always had prompt service and enjoy ourselves every year.
The only complaint we have are some of the beds are very hard. Not use to the xtra firm mattresses. Love coming with my Dogs and family every year. -

As a group of 15, we rented Southern Comfort I and II for a long weekend (as we have for the past five or six years). Because we share meals and spend a lot of time together, the side-by-side accommodations -- and on slope -- are exactly what we need. The units are far more than comfortable, completely equipped and cozy. Access to the hill, for those of us who ski, is a step out the door, and necessary trips to town are easy. When your biggest complaints are that not all the mattresses suit every guest's back and that the Hdtv isn't quite big enough, you know a condo is nearly perfect.

We have stayed at this location in the past. The accomodations are very nicely decorated. Plenty of room for our family. We like being right on the hill and enjoy the hot tub after a day of skiing. Will definitely stay here again.

Rented SC 1 & 2 for our annual trip. We like the option of (3) bathrooms in each unit and the many sleeping options for both couples and singles. Having (2) full kitchens was nice as well. Good trailside unit on alpen for beginners too and you can walk down the road to the always fun alpen Inn.

We had never been to the Bessmer area and were so thrilled by everything we saw. The area is beautiful and the leaves were at their peak. The hiking and falls were great.
The Bpla staff was always available and helpful.
The house was great...our only complaint was the beds, but that could be personal preference.
The house is on a ski run& would be great in the winter.
We definently plan to return. -

The location is very nice... enjoyed the ski in, ski out. We stay at Powderhorn
two weekends every year and usually rent a place off the trails.
The hot tub leaks... no question about it... even with pointing the jets down
and skipping the bubbles. I slept in the bedroom below the hot tub and the
and water was dripping off the ceiling and onto the bed.
Fridge works periodically... We had to call down for a small replacement to
keep our food from spoiling.
We received no housekeeping service during our 4-day stay. Only a small
number of towels were stocked in the bathrooms.
The kids liked the loft area with twin beds. Plenty of sleep space for a large
family. -

Our group has been going to Powderhorn since 1978. We look forward to going every year. We have stayed in all different trailside chalets. From Bear Necessities to the condos at Alpen Villa and enjoyed every one. Every chalet is unique and has everything you need to feel at home. Want some fun while on the hill, visit one of the three ski in-ski out bars. Then at night call the bus and visit the Pub & Grub for live music and dancing. The best service at PH is the shuttle bus. No driving, park the car and call the bus. I can't think of any thing I dislike about PH, other than the drive. But PH can't do anything about that.

We had a fantastic experience staying at Southern Comfort 1 and with the BPLA in general. When we first arrived in Bessemer late on a Wednesday night, we were not crazy about our first housing choice. There was nothing wrong with the property, but the spiral staircase made it difficult to carry in large bags and coolers.
We contacted the BPLA and they were extremely accomodating about letting us know what other properties were available. I wish I had the name of the guy manning the desk, he was really helpful. We moved across the street to Southern Comfort 1 and could not have been happier.
It is an excellent Ski in - Ski out location, especially for families with small kids (it is located on a very tame green slope). The house comfortably slept our two families (consisting of 4 adults and 4 kids). The property was clean, well maintained and had an ample supply of firewood.
There were two small drawbacks to the property, neither would prevent us from staying there again. First, you need to go down an external stairway to get to the slope, not a big deal, a walk out on the lower level would have been more convenient. The second is that there was only one TV. Again, not a big deal, but would have been nice to be able to catch the weather while the kids played video games.
Overall, a fantastic experience, we're already talking about booking next year. -

We stayed at Southern Comfort 1 the Weekend of January 14th 2010. Our stay couldn’t have been any more enjoyable. The chalet is literally right on the mountain and we were able to ski in and out of our back door. The place was very clean and has all of the necessary supplies. Great atmosphere with the wood burning fireplace too. I highly recommend this Southern Comfort 1.
