We were pleasantly suprised at our accomodations during our most recent ski weekend. The rental unit was clean and very inviting. The location was perfectly situated on the slopes. A great time was enjoyed by all. The only negative thing I could say is that there were no matches to light a fire. You may want to supply those just in case no one is a smoker.

Before we made a reservation for this unit, we checked what past guests wrote and found the unit as we expected it to be. Yes, the paneling was dated, but the unit was very comfortable for the four of us. Perfect for enjoying color change in the area. It was a big help to have wi-fi in the unit and a nice flat screen TV to watch the presidential debate. Also, the rental rate was a very good value. We'd like to come back and stay at this unit during ski season - a big bonus to be trailside. Only reason I didn't give five stars was it didn't have the elegance granite counter tops, etc. but we didn't need that. We didn't find a potato peeler in the kitchen, but staff was quick to get us one.

The first disappointment was finding out our trailside was no longer a trailside due to the run being closed - understand that you can't control snow fall but either some advance warning or at a minimum being made aware of this at check in and offered a lower rate or alternate unit would have been appreciated. Proactive service is always a plus and there was none.
In the unit the stove was not fully functioning as at least one burner was not working at the others were bent and twisted - cooking eggs is an adventure when they all run to one half of the pan!
The toilet clogged twice - the maintence gentlemen was very friendly but even he had a tough time getting things straightened out which led to an interesting smell in the unit for all three days. One trash bag was made available upon arrival - obviously had to call for more. Three lifts open and extremely limited runs was very dissapointing as well. A $4 discount for two day lift tickets inside of a lodge that is not even complete left a bad taste.
We've been coming for over 20 years and this was by far the most dissapointing trip. I spent a great deal of money for a very poor vacation experience.
Fresh Northern air...Beautiful Green Hills & Trees

We always stay at Powderhorn in the summer. It's our "summer vacation home," with all the amenities. Would absolutely recommend the Villas - convenient, and yet in a country setting. No hassle checkin, checkout. Treated like one of the family. We love it. Always wildlife to enjoy...deer, squirrels, birds, even bear to up-end the garbage cans at night. A truly breath of fresh air...literally. Close to Lake Superior for sightseeing, and to Bessemer, Wakefield, Ironwood, and Hurley for shopping and dining, etc. We'll be back every year, if at all possible!

The location is great for ski-in ski-out. This specific rental (unit located within a long building with adjoining units)is not well insulated for heat and is poorly insulated for noise, resulting in loud banging/crashing noises from melting snow, neighbors using the facilities etc. It was clean and the kitchen served us well as did the fireplace, with the ready stacks of wood logs outside the main floor.

the acomodations were wonderful. the lift attendants were awsome, they acomodated my 6 and 4 year old by slowing the lift and helping them on and did it with a smile and great attitude. our entire experience was great it is one of the 2 best family vacations we have ever taken it ranks on the same level with disney world as far as enjoyment, family time and value. thanks to everone at Big Powder Horn Mountain for the wonderful weekend.
