Go "off- the- grid" in a barn loft nestled at the top of a mountain pass in the Green Mountains. Lose yourself and relax as our guest in the pure beauty and remoteness of our private valley.

Newly renovated one bedroom loft with fully equipped kitchen, stone tile bath, and Vermont Castings gas stove. Sunshine pours into this beautifully crafted rustic home. Soak up the sun on your private stone patio or float dreamily on the swimming pond.

Located at the end of a dirt road, on scenic farmland,. Enjoy uninterrupted expansive views.... This home is both remote and connected -- it's way out in the middle of the woods, but just over four miles from Rochester, a village with fine dining, funky cafes, tennis courts, and art galleries.

Hikers, mountain bikers, cross-country skiers, snowshoers and snowmobilers enjoy direct access to an extensive network of trails that lead to the summit of Mt. Cushman, elevation 2,750 feet. Cross-country skiers and snowmobilers can pick up groomed trails at the doorstep. Or take a short walk from the door to nearby lookouts, moose paths and beaver ponds.

Enjoy several spots in the nearby rivers for swimming, cliff diving, tubing, or fly-fishing. We are 20 minutes from Silver Lake, a perfect spot for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. 30 minutes from Killington, Sugarbush, and the Green Mountain National Golf Course.

FAQ's

Is the electricity limited, or different?

An electrician could walk into our home and not realize it's alternately powered. Outlets and switches work just like they do in a home receiving electricity from a power company. Your electronic devices will function and charge normally in the house.

Is the solar power reliable?

The electricity is very reliable. We have a redundant system in place if the weather is cloudy or rainy.

Is there wifi or cell service?

We have good service with Verizon, and guests with ATT report good service. There is free wifi at two cafes in the town of Rochester, which is about 4 miles away.Read more

Additional Location Information

Some guests arrive at the barn loft and rarely stray off the property -- enjoying the views, hiking the 44 acres, floating on the pond or napping in the hammock. Nearby are famous day hikes along The Long Trail, the oldest section of the Appalachian Trail. You can also find canoeing, fishing, tubing, berry picking, antiquing, and swimming holes galore.
