For many years, Sunset has been a refuge for artists, musicians, writers, famous chefs and businessmen from all over the world. L’Express Magazine selected this gorgeous two-bedroom villa as one of the most beautiful vacation homes in Europe. Once you step inside, you’ll understand why. Sunset offers floor-to-ceiling views of the beach, which you can easily walk to in less than a minute.

In fact, when it comes to location, Sunset is second-to-none. Nestled along the French Basque coast in Bidart, the beach here is quiet and untouched. It boasts the biggest break in the Basque country, with waves that can be ridden up to 5 meters or... 16 feet. The villa itself overlooks the ocean, and the views are breathtaking inside and out.

Sunset exudes casual elegance. The combination of modern and traditional pieces—collected from the four corners of the world give the villa a warm and inviting feel without sacrificing the sense of luxury: most of the furniture was brought back from South Africa or Australia and the teak floor was specially imported from Japan. You’ll find everything you need to prepare gourmet meals in the modern kitchen, and the open-design living area—which has a fireplace—opens onto the private terrace.

The master suite is particularly sumptuous. Every morning, you’ll wake up to soft sunlight filtering in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the windowed lounge area is the perfect place to curl up with a good book. The oversized suite also features a king-size bed and an Italian shower in the lavish bathroom.

The guest bedroom occupies the entire second floor and has one double bed and two single beds. It overlooks the terrace and is very open and spacious, just like the rest of the villa. The second bathroom that also boasts an Italian shower and a toilet, is on the first floor.

Sunset provides an ideal base for exploring the Basque coast. Guéthary and its acclaimed restaurants are less than 10 minutes walk away, while Biarritz and San Jean de Luz are just a short ride away. Of course, with the beach right at your door, there’s a good chance you won’t want to stray far from the villa!

  We spent a week at Sunset Villa in april and had an amazing time. The villa was well-appointed and has outstanding views across the ocean as well as easy access to the beach. The villages of Bidart and Guethary are within walking distance from the villa with a large number of good restaurants. In addition, dealing with Greg at Keyweek was a pleasure. I would definitely recommend a stay.
